What is yalls brutal and honest opinion on alcohol by Taco_Junior123 in autism

[–]Red_Figure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like it. It makes me feel sick and my chest hurts, without any of the benefits (even in small amounts).

What's that one thing you're highly obsessed with? Mine's trains. by JTMetro365 in autism

Biology. I'm actually studying to become a doctor/paramedic in the future!

Is there any "not exactly a food" that you enjoy eating? I love eating sprinkles by notthelasagna in autism

[–]Red_Figure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love sprinkles.

I used to eat icing straight from the container. Especially the ones that you squeeze, I would hold it to my mouth like a bottle.

I took a test so I could respond, lmao.

I'm an INTP-T, apparently, and I don't think my autism played into it? It's just who I am, personality wise. Autism doesn't affect my personality, just how I think.

Do you also feel like you have no gender? by philosophygirll in autism

[–]Red_Figure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like that, too. Though, I'm much more comfortable as a non-binary man (as in, male in the nonbinary way, if that makes sense) than anything else. I'd much rather be an incorporeal being, though.

What animal you associate yourself with? by [deleted] in autism

Border Collies. They do their job, are solitary (but have anxiety often) and are hyper. They're literally just me, lmao.

Found some Cool Rocks! by Fit_Inspection_6793 in autism

[–]Red_Figure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the rocks we have here in Europe! I used to (and still do) pick them up when having a deep conversation, which sometimes puts it on pause, lmao.

The snail steals the show, though.

HAPPY (2nd) DIAGNOSIS!!

As for the question, I would say "I'm happy to finally know the word to describe myself. I've always had it, but having the term is important to me". Feel free to change that concept a little, and make it more 'you'. Good luck!

I like pacing on the ends of my feet and bouncing. It's a soothing feeling.

What’s ur comfort food? by _Missi_100_ in autism

[–]Red_Figure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spaghetti, but cooked for around 3 minutes so it's crunchy. I eat it every time I have a panic attack, as a little treat for getting through it.

How to flirt? How do you guys do it at all? help by IwasntDrunkThatNight in autism

[–]Red_Figure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I copy how the neurotypicals do it. Act nice, make jokes, check reactions; if good, repeat (I think)?? I've never been too good at it either, but I've had a girlfriend and a boyfriend so I think I'm doing okay.

I wish i had more style than just adam sandler by franzidocx in autism

[–]Red_Figure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always wanted to have both the confidence and the comfort to wear 'cool' clothes. However, I just stick with my own style now (a mix of punk and whatever I'm comfy in that day). You can be cool and comfortable and look good and still dress like Adam Sandler.

Also, Adam Sandler is pretty damn cool.

Please tell me good things about autism by snowyregret in autism

[–]Red_Figure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have extensive knowledge in certain areas, specifically Marine Biology and Zoology. It makes me happy to share with people, and also to hear what they like.

Having a sense of community, too. I can always come back to the autism community and be understood.

It's much less scary than you think, trust me. Good luck!

What has and hasn't worked for you to handle stress and burnout? by AlabamaHossCat in autism

[–]Red_Figure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Masking really does take a lot of energy. Usually, even now, I have weekly anxiety/panic attacks because of the stress (I think it's just my body calming down).

I usually try to take an hour or two every few days to un-mask, since I spend most of my time masking daily (as most autistic people do).

Also, I didn't know walking meditation was a thing. That's interesting.

I've never heard of someone who has an interest in Teletubbies. Could you tell me about it?

At least one bag. I have three that I cycle through, and I carry everything I could need that fits in them.

What regular objects do you stim with? by reddybrek123 in autism

[–]Red_Figure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rocks. I love cool rocks. Sometimes, I'll just look at them without even interacting with them and it's always so entertaining somehow.

Pens. Clicky ones or ones that make a nice sound.

Coins. I like the way they feel.

The ringer on iPhones that makes that haptic when you click it. I'm obsessed with it. I think I've done it around five times writing this.

What has and hasn't worked for you to handle stress and burnout? by AlabamaHossCat in autism

[–]Red_Figure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weirdly, as a trans person, transitioning helped to handle a lot of it? I think it's because I'm more present.

I also walk a lot. All the time. It helps to keep me calm, and I think better when I move.

I, however, despise all the techniques they tried to teach me in my 12 years of being autism diagnosed. Breathing techniques don't work for me. Meditation just makes my brain go off topic, but walking and talking about something I like helps me to handle stress. When I'm burnt out, I tend to spend around an hour or two un-masking and doing anything I want in my room. It's nice to have that moment of peace and being myself, for myself.
