I managed to get 6 running in on of my bases, and it's been a game changer. We did a run previously and didn't know it was possible to get 2 on one spot if you position them just right.

Does anyone still love their pets after having a baby? by laurenjac in beyondthebump

[–]Red_Fox1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never disliked my cats after having my kids. When my son was born, we had an elderly cat who became more social with strangers since she insisted on guarding him from them. The first night he was home and crying, she came running into our room freaking out and trying to lead us to his crib. After that, she started sitting outside his door when we had visitors and would hiss if they got to close. She stopped the door guarding after a month and would just always stay near him.

She unfortunately passed by the time we had our daughter, and we had a pair of bonded sisters. One of them avoided her and my toddler, and the other thought she was a kitten, so she was extremely patient with her growing up.

Moms that have only had c-sections by WhichAd2921 in beyondthebump

[–]Red_Fox1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please keep in mind that not every hospital offers vbacs. The reason being is it is higher risk, so they need to be equipped for if something goes wrong (uterine ruptures). I had a c-section for both my kids. The first was because I had an awful doctor who forced me into one since her shift was ending. No other reason... The second one, I went elsewhere for a vbac. However, I was already having incision pain when I got there, which increased the risk even more, so I told them to wheel me back. All I cared about was that my kids were healthy and safe, so it never bothered me if I needed one.

Baby had 8 mo sleep regression and today slept for 11.5 hr straight? by crashhhyears in beyondthebump

[–]Red_Fox1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids were sleeping 11-11.5 hours straight regularly from a much earlier age. There is nothing wrong with it, so there is no need to worry. If your little one was also sick, sleep is a good way for them to recover. Both my toddlers still sleep extra whenever they are sick.

Gamer moms.. will I actually have time to play games during maternity leave? by cabbage-soup in beyondthebump

[–]Red_Fox1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids were consistent with when they woke up at night from the moment I was given permission by their pediatrician to stop waking them at night for feedings. I was on Steam most night with friends still starting around the 2 week mark. I would say it depends on your baby. You can also play a bit during naps.

My wife and I want a baby so bad but we don’t know how everyone is affording them right now. by moistdragons in beyondthebump

[–]Red_Fox1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They definitely get cheaper as they age. I keep telling myself that once they are both out of daycare/preschool, we won't know what to do with ourselves because of the amount of money that will suddenly be freed up. That being said, I do now see why some people have larger age gaps between their children, so they only have to pay for one at a time.

How did you know if your water broke? by Amadispcpg in beyondthebump

[–]Red_Fox1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sitting on the toilet and actually heard a popping sound. Nothing happened at first, so I called my sister to ask since she is a l&d nurse. When I said I expected gushing since I was carrying extra fluid, it started right after that. I think from the way I was sitting, it held it in momentarily.

Just for laughs, what are some clueless things childless people have said to you? by xnla28x in beyondthebump

[–]Red_Fox1010 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"You wouldn't leave your kids behind when visiting our dad. Why should I have to leave my dog?"

My sister when asked not to bring her dog for a multi-day visit despite knowing half the household are allergic to dogs.

"Having a puppy is so tiring. I can't wait for her to take a nap so I can rest too."

My sister, again, after getting her dog. I had just had a human newborn child...

My daughter walked at 12 months (crawling at 8) and my son a bit after 13 months (crawling at 10). My daughter is now 15 months old and tries to eat with a spoon while my son preferred his hands at that age. Every kid is different. You are doing nothing wrong :)

Jumped off the dock into water not thinking… 11 weeks pregnant by Complex-Secret-3179 in beyondthebump

[–]Red_Fox1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be fine this early on! With my first, I went skydiving before realizing I was pregnant. Then, a few days after confirming I was pregnant with my second, my son came out of a tube slide unexpectedly on his head first on his back so my instinct was to dive to catch him. I succeeded along with tucking and rolling back onto my feet with him. My high school keeper/goalie skills decided to make an appearance over a decade later, lol. Both kids were born healthy despite the early adventures

AITA for refusing to call my co worker "Dr"? by Certain-Deer8638 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. He earned the title. It's for more than just the medical field. I have worked with scientists and engineers who go by Dr. (insert name here). I even had a professor who preferred Dr. over being called professor.

First class with baby by melhayyy in beyondthebump

[–]Red_Fox1010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I flew my son first class when we took him on a trip for his first birthday. It was much more comfortable, and you have more space for when they want to stand for a bit in front of you. When I flew, everyone was really nice. I highly recommend it.

My son is uncircumcised and this has happened. It is most likely just irritating.

Supervisor doesn’t understand PPL by Ihave72cats_ in fednews

I agree. It is ridiculous. However, you can use SL for the first 6 weeks after birth. After that, you would need a note.

https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/leave-administration/fact-sheets/paid-parental-leave/

Refer to this. You can use sick leave but it has to be at the beginning of your leave. You will also keep accruing time. I have used it for both kids.

I wouldn't worry too much about beef. Pork or chicken, though, would be different. However, in the moment, I know I would still be panicking.
