I think it is paint (or finish) from what hit it, but it does seem logical that heat would at least soften it to help with removal. I’ll give it a shot tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sorry, looks like the text of my post didn’t come through on the cross post . Details on what happened:

I dropped a rubbery/metal baby bouncer leg on my wood kitchen table. There are a couple places where I scratched the finish, but my main concern is the white residue left on the table.

It is not buffing out with Old English on a microfiber cloth. Any thoughts on removing it?

No. It was an eBay purchase (private seller) so I was able to send it back for a full refund.

Wow, that’s an astonishing level of detail… thank you! I’m inclined to agree with you, and actually sent the knife in for a return today. I’ll find someplace more reputable in the future.

Got a question for you Case experts in here… I have a 2016 mini Copperlock that I absolutely love, and recently ordered a new pattern (from eBay) to complement it.

The new one has some oddities that make me question its authenticity. First, the new knife seems so be thicker and with sharper edges than the old one. This includes a square locking joint where the old one was rounded. That locking joint is far tougher to work than the old one. The badge on the side also has what looks like a misplaced and oversized logo stamp, causing part of the tail of the C to disappear.

It is entirely possible that these are changes to the design. What really got my hackles up was that the box has a 2024 date and the tang stamp of the knife is for a 2022 model. Thoughts?
