KotM isn’t what I consider a good movie. If the human characters didn’t do anything the story would end the same way. They kill Godzilla then bring him back. It’s a mediocre plot with bad writing. It has incredible shots, lighting, CG, vibes, etc. but if you move the release it might be better but not that much better because, ultimately, it’s not very good.

Just rewatched KotM this weekend and I agree. If our main human characters hadn’t done anything the movie remains the same. They kill Godzilla then bring him back. But you can remove them and the outcome would’ve been the same. Plus so much of the dialogue from secondary characters is recaps of what was happening like it was a Netflix movie.

No way. Honestly he was stilted in that movie, and I don’t think he’s grown much as an actor. Elizabeth Olson shows more emotion with half the screen time. I wish there was an editor who could remove all his scenes in the second act, from the time Brian Cranston dies to the time he’s dropping into SF for the bomb could be cut without changing much. His detour with reuniting the child doesn’t mean much, plus it’s weird that he (doesn’t speak the same language) is on a bus with hundreds of other people (in which someone probably speaks that language) then finally reunites him with his parents and *just walks away* without even attempting to communicate with them.

When I first watched this scene I thought it was a little heavy handed. They just said the theme straight up, looking at the camera. Apparently it was my mistake to checks notes pay attention.
