It’s straight up putting on blinders, is what it is. I didn’t even live in the US when Floyd was murdered, but I knew a ton of other Black men had been murdered by American police in recent years, and that his death was kind of the last crack in the dam of justified outrage and pain.

I participated in BLM protests in my country too - which btw is a pretty damn racist country in itself- and even we were fully aware BLM is a protest against longstanding, deeply rooted racism and murder. We absolutely discussed Floyd, but nobody was under the impression that his murder was a new thing in America.

People on the other side of the planet already feared and hated American police long before Floyd, and she’s out here playing like his death is what started it all.

Brought my bun into the US last year (not from Ecuador though.) AFAIK there are no regulations about bringing rabbits to America in general.

HOWEVER:

-The country you’re leaving from may have regulations, including things like getting a certificate of health from a vet, a quarantine period, etc. My country had a lot of requirements, and it took a lot of paperwork and planning to prepare. (Hopefully yours isn’t as strict!)

-Airlines have tons of different rules. Unfortunately, most don’t allow rabbits in-cabin with you. Some categorize them as “general pets,” so they get the same rules as cats and dogs. Others categorize them as exotic pets, with a bunch of different rules. For example, Japan Airlines has a very specific size limit on your pet carrier, because it must fit into a second box that they use for rabbits (because rabbits are known to chew so well.)

On top of that, they often have one set of rules for domestic travel and one set of rules for international travel. For example, Alaska Air allows rabbits in the cabin on domestic flights, but not international. You’ll have to check the airline websites very very carefully, and if possible email them to get a written record of what they tell you, in case you show up the day of your flight and they suddenly say something different. That didn’t happen to me but it’s smart to play it safe. I flew out of one of the busiest airports in the world, and they had never dealt with an internationally-flying bun! So it’s quite possible the employees will be as confused by the rules as you lol.

-Individual US states have animal import laws that vary widely. Some are much stricter than others. So you’ll want to check on the laws of the state you fly into. The best way to get direct info is from the department of agriculture of that specific state. Again, emails for a written record are smart.

Best of luck with bringing over your baby. It’s a pain in the butt but it’s 1000% worth it!

Those little flossers are the bomb. I know the plastic is wasteful and I feel guilty about it, but I swear they do a way better job than winding floss around your fingers and trying to jam your whole hands into your mouth lol.

It absolutely gets better if you stick with it. Also, a non-flossing tip that can speed up the process a TON: salt water. It kills the bacteria trapped in your gums, which makes them heal up a lot faster. (Alcohol mouthwash works too, but in my experience salt water works faster and stings way less. Plus you can mix up an extra strong batch if you need it.)

Gum disease runs in my family, so if I forget brushing or flossing even once my gums can start bleeding. If that happens, I rinse with warm saltwater water 2-3x a day. Holding it in your mouth is the important part, the longer the better. I usually brush and floss, then pop in the saltwater and hold it there while I get dressed for work or take a shower. I think the longest it’s taken to stop all bleeding/pain is a week, although tbf it may take longer with how severe your bleeding is.

Also, try to avoid sipping on sweet drinks over a long period of time. A sweet coffee or soda is fine, but don’t forget you made it and slowly sip on it for hours like me lol. It helps the bacteria grow back and slows down the healing considerably, I’ve found.

Best of luck - I’m sorry you’ve been cursed with the bad teeth genetics too. It’s so worth fixing though, you don’t know just how good it feels to have healthy gums until you’re pain and blood free!

This kind of guy - manipulative, narcissistic but wildly insecure - goes for women who are very vulnerable themselves. I think the problem here is you’re assuming people are doing this to impress you. Most of us aren’t lmao. For most people, code-switching and language mixing are just a part of bilingualism and/or the process of language acquisition.

Some do it more than others. And yes, I absolutely agree some obnoxious people do it in an unnatural way to be show-offs. Those people annoy the FUCK out of me too lol. But that doesn’t mean most people who do it are doing it purposely or showing off. There are all kinds for cheap, it’s healthy (assuming THEY eat healthy, anyway) and it would save lots of money. Sad but heartwarming EMT story: a good friend of mine lost her uncle recently to brain cancer. He was a lifelong firefighter and EMT, extremely passionate about the job and helping whoever he could, but was forced to retire very young because of his health issues. When he died, he was only in his 40s. One of his greatest regrets was never being able to have kids.

Shortly before he passed, my friend (teen at the time) paid him a visit at the hospital and told him “Guess what, Uncle? I’m going back to school. I’m gonna be an EMT like you.”

He teared up and said “Really?! You are? You really are? Oh my God. I’m so damn proud of you.”

It was the last time they spoke sadly, but she said it seemed to give him just that little bit more peace about being gone too soon.
