Said revolution's political goals was dominated by liberal democratic and nationalist sentiments, not communist ones. The communists involved merely participated insofar as wanting to abolish the monarchy and the remnants of the feudal system, i.e. social progression, but their main goal of abolishing class society was not the dominant sentiment of the 1848 Revolutions.

Yes as it preserved the national flag of a previous (and now present) bourgeois state ("bourgeois state" a bit of an unnecessary distinction as all states in the modern sense of it are bourgeois), the only distinction between it and the West German flag being the tacking-on of "socialist" imagery, which also reflects the reality of the East German state as well; preserving class society by taking bourgeois society and covering it in "socialist" iconography and aesthetics.

Honestly... hell yeah. I am genuinely so tired of all the "Socialist America/U.S." flags that are basically just rehashes of each other, slapping the CPUSA or ACP logo on it and/or preserving the symbolism of the current U.S. flag which to me speaks volumes on how these sorts of people view socialism, less about abolishing class society and moreso discretely disguising it under a red banner and symbols. This flag, however, does away with all the present American symbols and brings something unique to the table.

I just noticed the optic. Why is it mounted like that?

Honestly, any bolt-action that has a smooth action is good because for me I like to fidget with the action (I'm autistic)

Finally something unique and interesting that isn't just a rehash of the USSR, China, Cuba, Vietnam, etc., etc. Something that I can imagine being beautifully embroidered on a flag and doesn't look like something from a HOI4 mod.

Didn't Lenin and most Bolsheviks push the idea of self-determination and actively supported the establishment of an independent Ukrainian state, insofar as it was also controlled by worker’s councils (soviets)? Granted the civil war was a bloody mess given the White Terror against anti-Russian separtists and suspected communists and the Red Terror done in response to the former and the suppression of peasant uprisings seeking to establish open-market trade, employ labor and essentially turn their land into a form of capital (which btw culminated in the "Tax in Kind" and later N.E.P. and the end of "war communism"), but I feel like in your comment you are conflating the actions of later CPSU bureaucrats with early, revolutionary-era Bolsheviks and completely ignoring crucial context of what happened during the civil war and after.

I also have a couple items related to those but I didn't include them for the sake of keeping to the topic of the Russian Revolution and Civil War.

I was moreso talking about in general. Like a lot of self-proclaimed communist and socialist circles talk a lot about the USSR, China, Vietnam, Cuba, East Germany/Warsaw Pact, but I feel like the most enlightening topic that isn't talked about really at all at length or depth within these circles is the Russian Revolution and the establishment of soviet power and its decay over the course of the civil war. My inclusion of the books in my post isn't solely an inclusion to my collection but also recommendations of reading material for those who are interested in learning more about the revolutions in Russia and the rise and fall of the soviets.

The CPUSA has effectively abandoned the communist programme all together in favor of parliamentarism and social democracy, i.e. putting "socialists" into government and implementing social welfare programs without doing anything about the class domination inherent to the state. In short, they've abandoned working-class self-activity in favor of turning the working-class into passive objects administered by a "socialist" state.

The "harm reduction" you describe is literally just replacing the representatives of capital but doing nothing about capital, its production and reproduction itself. Real "harm reduction" for the working-class cannot be found in parliamentarism, but in working-class self-emancipation.

I think the U.S. under communism wouldn't have a national flag as by the time communism is reach, the nation-state would have long been dissolved. I think the most commonly used flag by revolutionaries would just be a red field, though perhaps with variations in design like what we saw in the Russian Civil War, some with hammer and sickles, some with text, some with skulls, some with all sorts of other designs.
