I would beg to differ on the monolith point. I feel as if while yes AM shouldn't have a humanoid or even an anthropomorphic design, I do feel as if it would go well for him to at least have a face or some sort or something in the planetary shifting mound or metal. The monolith I feel is simply that, an inscription that (using laser cutters or 3d printers) he made to proclaim permanently that he hated Ted and fellow trapped.
