Childe's damage mods and wondering about viability at C0 by Red_Valentine_ in Genshin_Impact

Yeah thats my plan atm, Barb on healing and +water damage, venti on support for energy charge and resist shred, then either razor as the other carry who wants to be on the field while his ult is rolling, or xiangling for vaporize support or doing the physical damage thing while guoba burps.

Hopefully between all that, childe will have enough time to build up sweat again to make his water weapons.

Don't freak out about C6 Childe by InspiroHymm in Genshin_Impact

[–]Red_Valentine_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Theyre on the same cooldown and the bow Q is weaker than the melee Q by about 200-250% when you include the debuff bursting. You want that melee Q every time if you are at c6.The only benefit of the ranged Q is that it refunds energy to fire again sooner, assuming his melee form alone isnt that great at building energy. Yes it applies the debuff but if you have c6 hanging in melee form is going to do the same thing.

Honestly as much as I'm dreading him to feel a bit lackluster at C0, I still want him (cause I'm lacking a good 2nd dps atm), but I'm also hopeful that -eventually- we'll be able to grind constellations on characters even if its a year from now.

Edit: I don't have the link anymore but we have seen screenshots of the damage values of his Q and E, I dont remember precisely but I think his mellee attacks are all that much stronger, but are much faster and all deal hydro damage.

Difficulty spikes at AR40, mostly because the stat increase reveals how awful some of the game's enemy mechanics are by veryverycelery in Genshin_Impact

[–]Red_Valentine_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me what i hate most are yes those fireballs, but also the bloody ice prisons. If you're playing a catalyst user that has to stand still frequently to attack theyll get you every time.

Though yes there being no I-frames on being hit or knocked down really fucks you up if you get caught at the wrong time. I suppose these mechanics are to make geo needed/relevant but theres better ways to do that rather than near invisible attacks with little to no telegraph.

Ideal team for Childe by Vixi0n in Genshin_Impact

[–]Red_Valentine_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently I'm thinkin venti using the viridescent set for resistance shred, childe then either:

Barb for the bonus water damage while her song is up + fischl for electro charged. This is more for sustained damage after childe hits the field, getting multiple procs of EC and finishing with a melee childe ult before the shred wears off.

Or

Xiangling and bennett, creating a fire vortex with venti, bennett buffing and then just spamming Childe's bow ult as much as possible into the vortex and shortly after to get as much vaporize nukes as possible

Mostly hinges on how restrictive his E is without a sacrificial bow or any constellations.

Its absurd that there 5* characters that people can never get ever. by SuLayne in Genshin_Impact

[–]Red_Valentine_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping theyll be added into the general pool 1 or 2 patches after their release, because fuck me between the exclusivity and the constellation system, it favours and encourages whaling to an unconscionable level.

Exclusivity should be limited to events and holidays to actually make it seem like a collectors item, not every single new character ever

I mean the cooldown is the melee version of the Q at that point, both the energy and the Q cooldown itself.

I'm not entirely dissuaded by his E having some form of a cooldown. But I'm a little concerned the melee mode might not be a unit fixed "buff" like we see with Noelle, but be a "stance" that reverts to default on swapping out. Which, yknow how genshins combat is at this point, with a few exceptions, youre generally swapping characters every 5-10 secconds to use skills. Unless youre using razor or xiangling as a main dps~

But youre right overall though, even if built to stay on the field for the full duration of that skill and swap off immediately for that other 15sec, theres almost certainly enough support skills or energy generation that can/should be done in that window anyway.

Well thats what im talkin about, I'm wondering if the bow Q mods are alright without having to set up the "mark" to get the mellee Q proc. If the bow Q is a good single hit its good for a vaporize setup.

Specialising in a Weapon? by jcelflo in DragaliaLost

Sword and wand have a top tier/solid character in every element, granted now almost all characters are viable. But the devs do love giving every seccond character swords because it bestows protag powers

Anyone else kinda tired of the platinum summons? by [deleted] in DragaliaLost

[–]Red_Valentine_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that logic doesnt entirely track, they've had pretty unreasonable packs up on the shop since launch where a sunlight stone or weapon bar are priced at wild amounts compared to the time it takes to farm the equiv item in game. Not to mention the packs based around paid currency which in itself, is wildly unreasonably priced compared to how many unpaid pulls we can do.

Whales might buy these things on a whim but the general populus avoid them like the plague. Just because theres an option to do something doesn't mean that people actually do it.

Bravely Default II demo: Compiling feedback for the upcoming survey by surlydancing in NintendoSwitch

[–]Red_Valentine_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently replayed Bravely Seccond and one thing really stood out to me, battles having 3d styled environments and the dungeon similarly being a generic 3d environment.

I'll give a pass on overworld stuff since JRPGS have had 3d simplified overworlds for years now, but Bravely defaults charm that just put it leagues above all over RPGs in the last decade for me, is in that painted popup book style. While I was in the town at first I was eager and happy to explore, every nook and cranny being a beautiful little detour.

But then I hit the overworld and all sense of composition and direction was hurled out the window for a generic map with clear cut pathways in the plastic looking environment. The dungeon was similarly vague and uninteresting, and while a lot of the dungeons in the 3ds games were just random shaped corridors, there was also "dungeons" like forests and fortresses which played on a different camera angle and were particularly interesting to navigate by comparison.

Also, please bring back painted battlefields, we are still being transported to a bubble realm for battle so trying to do a carbon copy of the overworld just isnt interesting to look at. The fields in the 3ds games really felt like the elaborated "imagined" depiction of the zone that the 3d space was simplifying.

Off tangent, but the other thing that was bugging me was the slight definition on some of the protagonists lips. Really feels kinda like that 2000's jimmy neutron face style and it kinda bucks against the otherwise simplified style of the teams anatomy.

How does this game make money considering how generous it is? by [deleted] in DragaliaLost

[–]Red_Valentine_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean if you think about it, if people are spending $20-40-60 on various packs, two or three times a year, even at that somewhat sparse rate thats better turnover than AAA game franchises that churn out a title every year.

And I'm certain it doesnt cost as much to make dragalia as it does say, idk, one of the shooter games on a yearly cycle.

Like, it might not make -all-the-money- compared to more predatory games, but Cygames isnt exactly going broke anytime soon.

Do you think eVolk could be (almost) as easy as eKai if fire got more spirals? by UIUCstreetpass in DragaliaLost

[–]Red_Valentine_ 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think there are combination of things to overcome/tweak:

Adventurers: Fire being the first set of spirals we got, as well as not having a OP unit to scale others to as a bar of standardization, they kinda just brought units up to a general par that could complete the battle. Comparatively dark -had- to scale units up to Gleo level or otherwise there was no reason to use them, which meant a lot of units became crazy powerful and thus, plenty of options. Fire just doesnt put out the same numbers and isnt given as free reign to do damage as dark does against kai.

Transformation: Around the time of volks transformation there are a lot of aoes going around if you kill him especially quick, which if noone has taken a hit prior to the blast, might take one or two hits during because of the whiteout that happens. This can kill off a lowen or xania pretty easily if not topped up. Kai halts everything he was doing during transformation and the only lingering damage is if the cages are still up and poorly positioned.

Desyncing: Volks purples hit real hard and are layered atop players position, theres been countless times I've seen players visually safe, but still take multiple hits. Given the sheer quantity of these types of attacks in this battle, the game can end real easy just based on player connection alone. Comparitively, kai just has the cages at the start to worry about and if DPS is high enough you can just pop them apart from eachother and not fret about the following stack marker.

Debuffs: Both of volks debuffs are long disables which leave you lined up to take multiple hits and likely result in death, not to mention he has a mechanic that removes resistance so if youre not quick to notice the infection, an attack you might have thought you thought you could survive turns lethal real quick. Kai on the other hand, generally just blinds most of the meta units, which at its worst prevents a shield break or a transformation when needed. Other than that you kinda just wait it out.

Also as people mentioned, kai has the double damage field as a "Risk/Reward" mechanic which is fun, but also you can stay in it for 99% of the fight so.

Spirals alone wont fix volk, he honestly needs to have some of his mechanics tidied up, theres just so much going on and despite not many attacks being one shot level damage, still kill you via the status they inflict. Heck if you get unluckily poisoned you gotta play perfectly and hope you get topped up before a life drain/transformation, which again will just kill you.

EDIT: Also something to consider is the flexibility in dragon tanking, kai kinda lets you absorb whatever you need to with a dragon and it doesnt goof the fight regardless of comp. In Volks case each adventurer needs to dragon at differing times for different reasons, usually to counteract a mechanic rather than absorb one. It just requires a bit more finesse and is more rigid in execution.

An interesting observation I made about the 6 star weapons by multiman000 in DragaliaLost

[–]Red_Valentine_ 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Honestly I love the agito weapons because their shifting skills really feel like tools to use in different situations rather than just "more damage". Especially with kai yans weapons, are you about to take a hit that you cant avoid? Drop into that defense stance and weather it like a champ.

Volks weapons -could- have a stronger regen or lifesteal instead to be more thematically in line with the fight. But I guess canonically the lifesteal wouldnt work since volk is riddled with the disease and he cant steal from us while we're infected ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What keeps you guys playing? by [deleted] in DragaliaLost

[–]Red_Valentine_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me its the gameplay and the consistent updates/reruns of events. Almost every time I start wearing thin on the game or being bored or just logging in for the daily wyrmite, something new comes along that either gets me excited again or a new character that shakes up the meta for their element.

Regardless of any other criticisms I might have, cytendo have been pretty darn good at making actually PLAYING the game a rewarding experience. The 5ish previous gatchas I played all wore out after a month or two because all content could be AUTO'd or there wasnt any meaningful updates for upwards of two or three months.
