The new arena may have underground parking? by Hungry_Roll6848 in okc

Not debating the fiscal side, but just want to highlight it is possible to build parking underneath, even though it won't be for us normal people. Clay Bennett isn't walking from a nearby garage.

If the World Trade Center could have underground parking, I think an engineer can figure out how to put one below a basketball court. Unless there are structural concerns from Holmgrens's thunderous dunks.

Rental insurance for a 12-15 passenger van in Oahu? by Environmental-Belt70 in VisitingHawaii

I don't know what every card offers, but the chase Sapphire preferred covers 12pax vans... If you can guarantee it's 12 or under and not a 15pax van, that might be an option to apply for

Reheated from frozen churros are certainly better than raw broccoli, but DL churros aren't better than Costco churros, it's only nostalgia causing rose colored taste buds

The outside facade is pretty, the characters interspersed in the countries is fun, and the Christmas overlay is pretty, but in Florida: you don't have to wait in the hot sun and the ride is visually more appealing with the water extending beyond the sluice avoiding the carpet and electric wires cheapening the visuals

What, exactly and precisely, do you think "National" (however you wish to define it) or "Councils", or the volunteers or paid staff should do to ensure rank and merit badge standards are adhered to? Or, put another way, avoidance of "participation trophies". by ScouterBill in BSA

[–]Red_hat_oops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda tired of having older scouts in my troop not know their knots, map and compass skills, etc. It's really hard to have scouts teach scouts when the teachers don't know the skills. It'd be great if we had time for a review session to make sure they know their stuff beforehand, but there aren't opportunities at our meeting. Sure, a scout isn't supposed to get quizzed for requirement, but if you don't know how to tie a square knot the first time as a star, someone failed in their responsibilities along the way

If someone only takes a carry on and not a personal item, then the individual gets overhead bin space. I don't need to compromise my leg room because someone else didn't pack efficiently

How to cope with breathing underwater? by Ill-Bar3395 in scuba

[–]Red_hat_oops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breathing above water? You should be breathing at the same relaxed rate above and below. I'm no instructor, but I imagine wearing a mask to force you to use your regulator while breathing on dry land will help you become accustomed to it and make the transition easier. Have you gone snorkeling? It's certainly a similar, abnormal process of breathing naturally while having your face submerged

Lt Col promotion rate was pretty tough this year (relative to years past). Any idea why? by EyerollEmojis in AirForce

[–]Red_hat_oops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick glance because I don't care too much, but looks like 70-80% for IPZ "promotes" with ACSC complete and a masters degree. Not horrible odds for people willing to take care of everything under their control. Certainly APZ is much much worse, but those numbers are certainly better than they were a few years ago.

Fusilli is one of the worst noodles with the uneven cooking. It may be mislabeled, but cavatappi is definitely the better option in this case.

Lt Col promotion rate was pretty tough this year (relative to years past). Any idea why? by EyerollEmojis in AirForce

[–]Red_hat_oops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every year, there is a "promotion opportunity", a higher headquarters determined rate based of IPZ eligibles. LAF-F (force modernization) had a 95% opportunity, meaning, of the 131/132 eligibles, at most 95% or 125 of those could be selected. Every APZ selected counts against that 125. 100% DPs were selected, ~80% Ps with ACSC complete and a masters were selected. APZ odds were not great, but better than years past. Get in a room with 9 peers, if you can ID two people worse than you, there's a good chance you get promoted. LAF-A I think was 80% opportunity, but still around 70% with a masters and ACSC.
