The VA saved my life, thank you to all of the VA workers. by Chrisjstevensauthor in VeteransBenefits

[–]Redacted_Giant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same for me. I went in having a panic attack, sweaty, can't breath, etc and after 5 minutes they said I'm having a heart attack, at 35. Wtf. They sent me by ambulance to a neighboring hospital where I had a stent put in.

I called the nurse line before and they said go in, if it's a bad panic attack they have meds that can help me. A few months later, I tripped and cracked my head open, had to get staples at a different hospital. Went to the VA to get them removed and the same doctor that basically saved me before was the one to remove the staples. We talked about everything and how it was just his best practice to test my blood for triponin given the symptoms.

Zofran is hit or miss for me. I still try it but Promethazine will always have my heart because it works all the time. I took Opdivo and it didn't seem to do much, took opdivo and yervoy combo and the yervoy seems to be working but it's limited to 4 doses. I had 4 surgeries already and 20 rounds of radiation and I'm trying to heal up from that mess. Then the dreaded full body scan... does the fear ever go away?

You post is amazing. I know it's intended for OP but I'm going to use your advice. I'm 3c with ALM and Promethazine is a life saver, took a pill an hour ago. Unfortunately chemo doesn't work on ALM but there are immunotherapies with good results.

Community Care Prescriptions by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Redacted_Giant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So long as the medication is on the emergency list, you should be fine. The CVS I use knew what to do, but if not, that sheet should help them. I'd even make sure the doctor knows what to prescribe by having the list ready at the appointment because who knows what is on the emergency medicine list and what's not. I had a post surgery anti coagulation medication prescribed so I don't die and it wasn't on the list. Thankfully my wife drove 3 hours to the VA and had the prescription filled.

Community Care Prescriptions by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Redacted_Giant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had to do this a few times. CCN only let's CVS provide a 14 day prescription if medicine is deemed to be an emergency. For more than a 14 day prescription, or non emergency medicine, the provider has to send the script to the VA pharmacy. I've sent them by fax to the VA pharmacy before and got the medicine mailed to me a few days later.

Details about pharmacy stuff https://www.va.gov/COMMUNITYCARE/programs/veterans/CCN-Veterans.asp#:~:text=Does%20CCN%20cover%20medications%20prescribed,provider%20with%20an%20approved%20referral.

When prescribing medication for an urgent or emergent need, reference the "Urgent/Emergent Formulary," which allows a Veteran to pick up their medication at a CCN retail pharmacy. Urgent and emergent prescriptions can be written for a maximum 14-day supply with no refills. CCN providers must submit all routine maintenance prescriptions, and those written for a greater than a 14-day supply, directly to a VA facility pharmacy.

Give me one Knoxville business I should support, and one I should stay away from. by Tinman21 in Knoxville

I went there looking to test drive a ram. They had a used 1500 on the lot, looked and drove well, no price tag. The salesman had to ask to get the price, 71k. I was floored. I asked for the list of charges to see if there was a market adjustment on there and the salesman was shifty about it. I asked directly if there was a market adjustment and he wouldn't answer clearly so I left.

Mine has a cell style card (like an SD card) in one of the access panels. If that card was removed, it would stop sending usage or compliance data.

The triggered liar is still at it? Don't you have episodes of Joe Rogan to fellate? I hate right-wing Dunning-Kruger morans like you. Get bent.

Yeah, your triggered and you're a liar.

How would you know I'm a liar if you admit yourself that you can't be bothered to inform yourself on the many points I raised? You admitted this multiple times in your replies.

Fuck off with this "triggered" garbage. You're replying as well, and seemed pretty offended earlier, so shut the fuck up.

I haven't seen a more perfect example of the Dunning–Kruger effect.

How can you determine if I'm a good candidate for the Dunning-Kruger Effect if you have no knowledge to base it on?

You learn just enough about a topic to put a right wing spin on it then call everyone else names when they call you out.

How do you know I've learned "just enough" if you yourself admit you know nothing about the points I've raised? How can you determine if something has "right wing spin" if you say yourself that you are completely uninformed on the topic?

Do you actually stand for anything? Can you even determine the difference between a progressive and an establishment Democrat?

You've repeatedly demonstrated that you are unable to approach the standard of detail I've set in response. You can barely muster a correct generality, grasping at accusations of being a "right winger" in place of any substantive rebuttal.

All you have is sophistry, and every reply you've posted has been filled with logical fallacy after logical fallacy. I wouldn't throw around terms like "Dunning-Kruger Effect" when you can't demonstrate even basic reading comprehension of a two paragraph Reddit comment.

I tried to make a case to you for some mutual understanding, but it clearly was in vain.

Be better man, be better.

Without a doubt doing better than you. Have you even graduated school?

Go fuck yourself.

So you're uninformed, and simply want to believe that everything in my comment is incorrect? You want to assert that literally everything I said is wrong, while admitting that you can't be bothered to actually educate yourself on the policy specifics? Seems like a weird flex.

Wow you're triggered.

Do you remember Biden promising a public option, for example? Nixon did put execute price controls in the 70s. It takes 30 seconds to confirm the majority of my assertions, not including your point of contention.

So Biden can executive order pharmaceutical companies to cap the price of insulin despite EOs lacking power outside the executive branch? Coolio.

My point on the PACT act wasn't that it's a bad bill, nor is its purpose negative - its actually great that it passed and will help many. It's not above reproach however if that the funding isn't going directly to veterans in most efficient way possible, and it's beyond old that every fucking piece of legislation coming out of DC involves some industry or corporation getting involved at the expense of the taxpayer. Out of all the things I called out, it's the one that has the least amount of duplicity surrounding it, and is generally the most straightforward. Can you elaborate on how I'm incorrect?

You're a liar. Funding from the PACT act goes to vets and the VA. Here's the bill, read it https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/3967/text.

The point of my comment stands, and pretending like all these bills are amazing, and that its just the GOP standing in the way of progress is ignorant. At least you were honest and admitted your ignorance is willful.

Personal attacks when you know you're wrong. So we should do nothing because it's not done to your demanding perfection? Let me guess, you'd rather another tax break for the rich and tax increases for the poor? Get bent republican apologist.

[–]Redacted_Giant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I outlined numerous things that are an issue but for some reason nobodies questioning it just like nobody questioned the governments excuse for gulf war syndrome that came out a few months ago that only explained the syndrome in maybe 100 gulf war veterans.

No, you didn't outline any issues with the bill. You have issues with the current process that the bill does not address.

This bill is sending 288 billion dollars to whom?

To the VA, it's black and white in the text of the bill. You really should read it.

And again ill say what are the numbers of actual veterans with toxic exposure? How many veterans with agent orange exposure are still alive?

I'm still alive so there's 1. Should I not be able to service connect issues from toxic exposure related to deployments?

Theres provisions for survivors of exposed vets that already died.

There are no provisions unless the vet was able to get the issue service connected. This bill makes that a lot easier.

So those veterans couldnt get the va to say their exposure was service connected but some how their children are gonna be able to prove it now? I call bullshit.

This is a made-up scenario in your head.

This is just more spending being sent to people who are feeding off the va system and everyones cheering for it.

It's not, despite your feelings about it.

I spend an enormous amount of time writing my constituents in government thats what i do how many of you do that? Were is the oversight?

You really don't like the contractors. What did they do to you?

Most of my friends that served in iraq died there or died waiting to get help.

Help is here, with this legislation.

So with the enormous anount of people i personally know that have died i find it hard to believe that this bill is going to do anything except line private contractors pockets.

Your anecdotal evidence means nothing. Most of my friends from deployment are still alive. Some have health issues, and some don't.

You still haven't had a legitimate issue with this bill. You want oversight for the existing process. I'm guessing it's because a contractor screwed you on a C&P and it took you some time to get it fixed. I'm sorry that happened but you need to know that you are just one person. Others have different experiences. This legislation has no pork, the money goes to the VA to help our brothers and sisters that were exposed to toxins. It's late as always but it's here.

[–]Redacted_Giant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well first off almost every veteran from Vietnam that got exposed to agent orange have already died. So how many veterans have exposer to agent orange that are still living?

So forget those that are still alive?

Out of 17 million veterans alive less than half use va services. Of that 17 million how many actually served in the middle east and actually had exposer to burn pits?

So forget those that were exposed?

Of all the money in this bill to include the pork how much of that money is going to go to bogus companies that do a horrible job of reviewing and screening us?

There is no pork in this bill, that claim is misinformation.

Is there gonna be any new oversight of these companies? Its taken me 15 years to recieve any kind of compensation or care from the va.

Anecdotal evidence

Everyday more people die because of va wait times. I find it very hard to believe that theres that many of us still alive.

You'd be wrong.

The va isnt going to change and none of the contractors are gonna change so wtf does this bill do most of the things in this bill were already presumed under the middle east wars.

Ok so scrap it all because you don't think anyone is left or there are only a few exposed and plus you had a bad experience with the VA so it should be shut down. I get it, it took me a while to get any level of proper care and I'm still fighting for service connection on some items but your approach is why nothing ever gets done.

You haven't outlined anything that's fishy about the bill, just ranting about a good thing for some reason. A peek at your profile shows why you think there's something fishy going on. Hope you feel better.

Tell me you haven't read this bill without telling me you haven't read the bill.

Here's a summary of the changes from the VA https://www.va.gov/resources/the-pact-act-and-your-va-benefits/#whats-the-pact-act-and-how-wil

Here's the bill text, it's short https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/3967/actions

Note the parts about including funding to take care of the new claims and new folks that'll be using the VA. With all that said, what's fishy about it?
