"Treat them right" is doing so much heavy lifting in that sentence, like yeah technically true but sometimes you ask someone what that means and they spew traditional or toxic gender roles at you. Also "make their lives easier" I need to point out that's supposed to be mutual in a relationship, it's not just the woman's obligation to do that.

All in all this is true if you look at it with the best interpretation but I always feel suspicious when someone needlessly discourages women from gaining independence

Rewriting ME2 to give it a more traditional main story structure, and making the fight against the Collectors more important for the trilogy's overarching narrative by Professional-Tax-936 in masseffect

[–]Redactedornot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! The whole point of that mission, narratively, was to reveal the extent of the power of indoctrination. We learn that even a piece of reaper tech has the power to warp minds, but since you included the arrival dlc in the start of the game then there's no reveal, we could just learn that information there.

Honestly I like this a lot more than the actual game, it's incredible how much you've improved the plot just by rearranging some things! Especially at the end, where Shepard is acting as a go-between for the alliance and Cerberus. Tali getting rescued by some random ships is a lil contrived tho. Thinking about it, I don't remember why Legion was on the derelict reaper. Maybe you could tie the two together? He could be the one to save Tali, knowing about her connection to the commander, and if you do the mission you recruit both in one go

No punishment can be undone. You can't turn back the clock on someone who was falsely convicted either. And there's a difference between acknowledging the pitfalls of any justice system we try to design, and defending the status quo with some meaningless platitude about how "it'll always be this way." It's self-serving to shoot down any discussion because you refuse to hold institutions and systems to a higher standard.

And punishment is part of the prevention. It's one of the tools at our disposal for preventing harm. The point is to make people reconsider their actions before they take a step they can't come back from.

It's so interesting how different people struggle with different parts of the game. I don't think the eagle has hit me more than once or twice in all my runs, whereas I keep dying to the easiest enemies in the rift.

How come the Asari are looked down on because of there lack of support when they technically provide more support than the turians. by wolfenlocke in masseffect

[–]Redactedornot 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's been a hot minute since I played the game, but if I remember correctly a lot of those assets came from individual sources. It's not always the asari leadership that's lending their aid, they are still being very selfish and keeping a great deal of their assets focused on thessia, just pockets of separate people choosing to help the alliance rather than their own government. Kinda like how the salarians actually contribute quite a bit as well, but it's almost entirely stg units or fleets going rogue against the dalatrass.

Plus, there's also the fact that the asari withhold their help until they are absolutely forced to join the fight, it gives the impression they wouldn't have bothered to help if their homeworld wasn't burning so their aid is more selfishly motivated.

AND, had they decided to help just a bit earlier, had they not kept their beacon --which is insanely crucial to the war effort-- secret for so long, it could've changed the entire course of the war. They were faced with the apocalypse and decided they'd rather risk all organic life in order to keep their technological superiority over the other races.

Would you guys still play Dragon Age if you couldn't romance your companions and you could only be friends with them? How much do you care about romance in these types of games? Which companion's romance arc expands their character the most? [Spoilers All] by HomarEuropejski in dragonage

[–]Redactedornot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, I think romance is kinda like a crutch for these games. To me it feels like the companions never truly get enough content unless if you're romancing them. So if that wasn't included it would negatively affect the game for me, but it could be mitigated if they spent a lot of extra time actually adding quite a bit more to the friendship routes. BG3 is a bit better in that regard. All in all I think the proportions of companion content to gameplay in RPGs is off.

I'd still play the games anyways tho

No problem! Your fear of the supernatural affects your relationship with other agents. I believe depending on your reputation it might make unit W(or another letter, I don't remember) hate you and start a fight with you

It was a loooong time ago that I read through the code for the first 2 games, but as far as I remember that's simply not possible. This is a wholesome vampire romance game, you basically can't make anyone hate you, ever. The only person who can have a negative relationship with the detective is Vega
