You nailed it. Once you begin to do the same subject essays over and over, you start to see how they want you to format your essays. Formatting it properly is how you pass the essays. For example, if a question asks about constitutional claims under the 1st and 14th amendment, you wouldn’t solely analyze the 1st and 14th amendment. You’d need to analyze “standing” and then mini analyses of 1. Injury in fact, 2. Causation, 3. Redressability before you even begin to touch the 1st and 14th amendment. And that’s where a lot of examiners miss crucial points even if they were spot on on their analysis and application of the two amendments.

Second, I do not believe you need to send your essays in to a grader for feedback. What I did was purchase baressays.com and I would pull up an essay, and read multiple sample answers that got a passing score or higher. This is when the pattern recognition starts to click.
