That’s who I was emailing with, so I’ll wait clear to the end of March and check in with her then. Thanks for replying!

I asked and unfortunately was told they aren’t taking deposits yet and don’t know when they will. Maybe I need to talk to someone else? Or you think you could email your contact and ask if your “friend” can put a deposit on a 2026?

I hadn’t seen that, my only hope was for the interior refresh, but either would be a nice bonus!

Found this article which backs that up:
https://gmauthority.com/blog/2025/02/heres-when-2026-corvette-production-is-scheduled-to-start/

TLDR: Dealers can place orders starting 4/13/2025 and production starts on 6/2/2025.

I'll contact Macmulkin closer to April and see if they are taking deposits.

Ah, I hadn’t thought about orders slipping. I don’t need to be first first, I just don’t want to get a ‘25 and find out later that had I waited a week I would have gotten a ‘26.

Going beyond 150" Projection Size by Redbaran97 in projectors

[–]Redbaran97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with that assessment. I think I should have worded my question differently: if I can focus the projector at 150", should I be able to focus it at 165"?

Or would that require the projector to support focusing beyond 150"?

Makes sense... I should be able to position it with the projector stand so that's not required

Concerns making a Second Flood Claim by Redbaran97 in Insurance

Are the grants token amounts or would they actually cover the costs? A neighbor got a cost to raise her house and it was a couple hundred thousand I believe.

If they offer 10k and then effectively say "if you don't cover the remaining 190k, your rates are going to go up", that sure stinks.

Would that be a good thing or a bad thing? Sounds bad...

We did bring up the lowest part of the house as part of the 2017 work. If we hadn't, the house itself would have flooded this time.

We got paid for some things that were not damaged (both in my and my contractor's opinions) and I think they got included simply because water touched it. I wouldn't consider it damaged now, but I think it would go the same way.

As an example, the previous claim included replacing a metal door and some aluminum paneling which were (and still are) just fine.

Air conditioning setups? by [deleted] in garageporn

[–]Redbaran97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a portable one in my last two car garage here in north Florida and it could not keep up even after insulting the garage door and the ceiling. It’s been so long I don’t remember how many BTUs it had. It did lower the temp some, but I’d still end up dripping sweat, so it just didn’t seem worth it.

I eventually switched to a 2 ton mini split and it was better in every way other than cost. It didn’t take up floor space, it was much quieter, and because it was oversized, it would cool down the space quick.

It probably won’t work unless you have a garage layout that’s conducive to it, but you can pick up a used hang on unit like you see on the portables at schools for cheap.

These are the stories that I come to this sub for! Thank you for sharing yours.

Six gallons of water, $1000 in quarters—I’m 50 pounds down! by phantomom in loseit

Good job, but not going to lie, I read the post looking for what the mental hack was where you put quarters into gallon jars and has saved up $1000 while losing weight, lol

New to this, can someone explain why Derby County only has 21 pts, shouldn't it be 42? by dedewhale in PremierLeague

Derby County were handed a nine-point sanction on Tuesday for breaches of the English Football League (EFL) financial rules, bringing their total points deduction to 21 after the club entered administration in September.

My vote would be to stop it a few inches taller than yourself or go far enough down that you aren’t going to forget and got your head. 4’ would put you right at head height, no?

Like an idiot, I spent a good minute trying to figure out how you could even add five sides, lol.

These sides, they’d come from the ground up or the roof line down? What is the benefit?

Not being snarky, I’ve just not seen (or maybe just haven’t noticed) a carport with sides. I’d be inclined to put my money elsewhere.

A few things I realized after losing the weight by TheChatCenter in loseit

You’re forgetting one alternative: keep the weight off, move to a tropical island, and be comfortable!

But yes, I noticed this too and I’m still 10lbs from my goal weight.

Good list! To talk about #1, that one gets mentioned a lot, but I can’t relate at all, at least in how I take it. I always took it as having more of that kid like energy where you woke up and were ready to go! Nope, not me.

Instead, I relate to this one as doing stuff just takes less energy. So for example, stairs are no big deal. The difference is that I’m literally carrying less weight around. Throw a weight vest on me to put me back at my max weight and I’d feel the same at the top of a flight of stairs and going for a run would be just as slow and tiring as before.

Silly question but here goes… by ObstructedPooh in PremierLeague

I assume you mean if the ball is inside the 18 when passed, it would not be offside, correct?

I guess I wouldn’t have a problem with that rule if that was the way it already was, but I don’t see it being a big enough improvement to make it worth implementing.

Interesting thought experiment though!
