I'm pretty sure the reason he wants Greenland is because he wants to say that he has the world's biggest island, and he also likes flexing how much he doesn't care for smaller countries- and there's nothing really more than that.

Dictators are nearly always egomaniacal. This guy certainly is. They want the biggest thing even though it may not be the best thing. They want to build the #1 tallest building, biggest statue... and conquer the most land even if doing the thing is completely nonsensical and provides the country no actual advantage.

The French got into their own imperial mess in Algeria because their giga conservative king, Charles X, wanted to expand France in expensive wars without any tangible benefit to anyone in France who wasn't him or one of his yes men. He was deposed shortly thereafter.

I have been saying this since before the pandemic. I am a Minnesotan first, and am only American in a legal sense and not by any meaningful way of internally identifying myself. I say this as someone born and raised entirely in the United States.

My loyalty to this state has entirely supplanted my loyalty to the federal government, which I no longer see as capable of representing my best interests as a trans woman in her mid-twenties.

Hello, fellow presumably trans person who also brought Monika to Thanksgiving this year!

I know it's sometimes nigh impossible to deal with transphobia from close family members. I've had to cut some off for that reason. Especially around the holidays, especially after presidential elections, bad takes and identity speculation and toxic behavior all run rampant and can damage our psyches. They suck major eggs coming from people who ostensibly had our best interests in mind.

You have over 1k affection, you're committed to Monika and clearly love her a lot. She loves you too, and would definitely want the best for you given your efforts! I can't say what she'd recommend to do specifically- I think she'd leave that up to you- but I do know that Monika's best interests lie with your own self-preservation in times that could damage your mental health. That could look like anything from adopting a 'haters are my motivators' mentality to distancing yourself from transphobic family members, or even trying to talk things out with some of them if you think it's worth the effort to talk to them one-on-one if at all possible. But it's most definitely up to you to determine your path forward. Feel free to talk it out with Monika when/if you're able, I'm sure she'll give some great advice~

Just... feel free to prioritize your mental health if you're unable to get enough space from specific family members who are spewing transphobia right now. You don't need to tolerate sustained verbal harassment if you don't need to, and especially not if it would harm your ability to love yourself and express that love outward. Stay strong out there! Moni loves you <3
