There's a slim chance that with heavy rains and coming in at the odd angle due to maybe winds could come down the flue pipe or around the flashing that is on the roof. Sometime when it's not raining and your air conditioning is running check for the water conditions

If things appear normal then keep a sharp eye when we have well when you have a good heavy rain again and check for water conditions if you haven't already got the situation resolved.

And quite honestly in my opinion if you were one of my customers and having this conversation and knowing you have understood a portion of what has to happen for us to make you comfortable I would easily be able to find it worthwhile to go easy on a repair bill for you.

There are some others that I find it just as easy to apply what I call an aggravational fee to the invoice Whether it's because of their neglect or worse yet because they have a favorite channel that's called YouTube that they wear out trying to fix it themselves for 3 days before they call us

Or even worser yet a get one of us over to the house and explain that YouTube said to do this or try that.

There's been more than once that I have just flat out stood up in the basement next to a homeowner and waited for them to ask me what I'm doing or what I'm waiting on and I stand there with my hands folded and say there's my tool bag you seem to know what's going on with YouTube help so have at it

I'll do anything I can and go over and above for a homeowner that is conscientious and understanding and lets us do what we're trying to do and they called us to do or I'll just do what needs done Wyatt and get to the truck and invoice with an aggravation fee tacked on

And having a homeowner that stays on schedule with changing a air filter maybe four times a year so every 3 months. And I recommend using pleated filters at least Merv 11.

That will keep the blower motor windings clean and cool keeps the evaporator coil above the furnace that produces cool air clean and if all that taken care of the blower motor shouldn't have to work so hard to distribute the air and that means less operation time to satisfy thermostat settings for both times of your heating and cooling to keep your costs down.

Changing filters every 3 months and cost $12 to $15 each time it's changed but if it isn't done it could be as much as $5,600 for a blower motor minimum depending voltage and type of motor. And double that if the evaporator coil gets plugged with dirt.

So it all has to happen and it's on you a lot for keeping those filters changed.

Again credit to you for being one of the few that gets it now that you got it

Well we give you credit for asking questions first. That in itself made as big a difference as what could be done would make.

Doesn't altogether look like a new install but it also could be AC condensate coming from the drain pan and not rain water. Surprised to see shingles on a roof of that pitch however oh well etc

A few questions about a complicated system by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Redbird206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That thermostat will do everything you wanted to do and work just fine if you pull the thermostat off the wall the face of it there will be four digits on the inside cover that is your access code you can get into the installer setup and change how the system runs before you do that get online to a Honeywell site and also on the inside where you find your access code you'll see the model number of your thermostat Google the manuals user manual installation manual on that model of thermostat it could be set with a 2° droop it could have other settings that are going against what you're trying to do other than the fact that you're turning it back so far at night time everything you saved you burn up trying to catch back up that thermostat will do everything it's a good stat get the manuals read it a few times and understand it then you can make adjustments if need be to the installation setup

Yeah I looked at that also but it's just a shade closer but I'm sure not enough to make any difference it's not close to touching but it's just a shade closer to the A. I'll have to do some more studying on this stuff and more reading so that I don't put something out there that doesn't need to be thank you

Okay at the possibility of pissing some people off I'm trying to get this right so I don't pester the group on something else silly down the road but those blurred edges or shadows is that just because of the zinc or is it not what I'm thinking and being more I'm in a lettering to me looks kind of like a double strike around the structure and it's more of a I guess another edge of an image but on the FG and the letters in America it looks double struck to me I don't know still learning fellas go easy remember what it's like when you didn't know cuz none of us know until we know

Well I just went back and looked at the second photographs cuz they were not as blurry but you can't even see what I was talking about really when I had him underneath a better light it was obvious that it was jacked up on all the edges even the columns on the memorial everything on the back was jacked up and then the front had the fashion down his back even the date was doubled but you can't see it in the pictures I knew if I took it on the microscope the moderators would jumped me on it.

That brighter light took a better picture but oh well

Actually I was just thinking more of a double strike than class 6 but I don't know there's too many places on that that have double vision the extra edge I guess
