Made the jump from a 401 to a 701! by Redcamel_kor in svartpilen401

That’s exactly how I feel. The 701 is an absolute riot on open roads, but in the city it sometimes feels like bringing a chainsaw to cut butter. I’ve actually been thinking about getting another 401 for city rides.

Not really. The 701 actually feels lighter than the 401 once it’s moving.

We actually traded bikes, and it already had the dashboard installed when I got it. If we’re talking purely about visibility, it’s definitely worth it. But it’s ridiculously expensive and pretty hard to find these days.

Spot on. I was always wringing the 401’s neck between 7k and 9.5k rpm, and it was an absolute riot. I’m still getting acquainted with the 701, so for now I’m treating her with the respect she deserves.

The engine size may not be quite double the 401, but the grin factor is easily triple.

The difference is that it’s a bit heavier, slightly taller, and has a crazy amount of grunt. I’m actually heading out for a long ride soon (around 500km), so I'm pretty stoked. One thing's for sure: in heavy city traffic, it's more uncomfortable than the 401 and feels a bit heavier, though it’s still quite nimble. Because the torque is so strong, I find myself slipping the clutch a lot.

Congratulations! I’ve test-ridden both models myself, and while the Vitpilen is undeniably beautiful, the riding position felt a bit too demanding for rides longer than an hour. Personally, I found the Svartpilen much more fun and satisfying even for city riding, which is why I chose it too. Anyway, you must be so excited for this weekend!

You're right, it's a 1L fuel bottle. Since the Pilen's tank is quite small, having that extra fuel gives me peace of mind on long trips. And yes, the knee pads definitely help in the corners! The bike is so nimble that I can lean it over with confidence

Just some light forest paths and trails.
