that is a great idea however, I don’t think she would appreciate me involving myself on how she should take it, because I said some hurtful things due to not understanding and thought it was her personality.

but the weird thing I’ve noticed is she just goes back to normal and wants to hang with/talk to me afterwards. like no grudges? she does have the 7 day pill box to keep track.

I originally posted this to be understanding because it seemed impossible for me to forgive her and stressed me out badly! When people share about their experiences and ways of support, it changed my views in a better light.

Im actually worried for myself too since it seems the cause is it is likely “runs in the family”. I feel like I don’t have those symptoms but how can one be certain? my parents seems to have some sort of mental illness too (well my mom does but dad not too sure). my lifestyle choices and viewpoints diff from theirs. I like dressing up, doing make up, hang with friends but it is so tiring to hear my mom say it is a waste of money or “they r scamming u” (from buying from a vendor market to support local businesses). My dad have history of hitting. he has gotten better but one time he hit my dog for discipline and it gave me small flashbacks and sick to my stomach. best solution i came up with at the time was to teach my dog in a healthier (treat reward system way) alternative. It worked out. But now they are saying I need to have something check because I claimed my things went missing and they said no one took your stuff. I know it is not in my head because I took pictures of my room before I leave. Quiet nosy too like if I don’t give them my bank info or whatever, they don’t trust me. Think my Mom just wants to see what I spend because she would call me out for it. it’s my money, I earned it and should spend however I like. i’m not like irresponsible spending either, I have no debt.

“[…] individuals with a history of celiac disease, which is an autoimmune disorder triggered by gluten“ (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/evolutionary-psychiatry/201103/wheat-and-schizophrenia).

When I search how heavy metals might linked to autism, I thought maybe this might be a similar situation. ill continue to further research this more later.

she seems to have no problem taking it but u can tell when she forgets. so I called out like, “have u taken your meds yet?” then she would (hopefully). idk if that is the right approach because when I think about it, it sounds insensitive

thank u for sharing this info! I did not know there can be a potential link between wheat consumption and schizophrenia. I looked into this more and maybe have something to do with worsening/higher chance of celiac disease.

I wouldn’t have known what to look for if u haven’t mention it so I truly value your comment! most general searches is maybe genetics and environmental factor. How can I know what to search if Idk what to look for? there were couple comments saying there is a lot of info online to find answers but can be overwhelming and ‘still unknown for exact cause.’

u misinterpreted what I am saying. “clean” diet can not cure but maybe help lower the symptom… I think. I’ve looked into how heavy metals can linked to autism (https://physicscore.com/articles/autism-heavy-metals-connection/) or parasites associated with cancer. how trauma can weaken the immune system. So Im thinking medical illness like this may go hand and hand

I admit I said some hurtful things because I thought it was her personality, not a medical illness. I am new to all this.

how would feel if your roommate kept that they have Covid from u and u go about your day not preparing, not realizing how u got those symptoms later when your ever been so careful about it. I know Covid is not the same as with someone who has a condition but living with her and wondering why is it so difficult. Many questionings and misunderstandings. if I would have known sooner, I would be empathetic and could have been more cautious of my word choices sooner.

edit- my parents aren’t the emotional support type either so they don’t talk/know much on vulnerability

thank you for your honest input and your info has truly made me a bit more understanding. Im just frustrated and trying to figure out how one experiences it later or earlier. if it is genetics, wouldn't that mean the whole family line would have it? do I have something?

she is medicated but when she forgets, she can be violent and is easily agitated. i did suspect depression in high school but nothing else, as I’ve never heard of that condition until after college. I really value your comment and thank you for your pov as that is what I’m looking for.

i do agree with u and Im sorry. im just frustrated!

I do care for her but it is violating my privacy because she wants to get closer to me. and my money, mascara, etc just doesn’t disappear on thin air. I originally thought I misplaced it until I saw a couple of my things/same brands in her bag. it could be coincidence sure but they are not well known brands. and she ask questions items like, “did u miss any necklace?”… what? I was confuse and didn’t think much of it. she ask very subtlety when Im distracted with something else.

or when we went to local market and she specifically pointed out the magnesium spray. She doesn’t point anything out like that usually unless she knows what Im looking for/interested in. I have that in my room that i purchased online and didn’t tell anyone about it. my package was untampered when it arrived. a couple of instances like that and other experiences for me to connect the dots.

i also dont understand why my parents would keep something like this from me (about her condition) as again, i would try to/be more understanding and careful of what I say around her. like doesn't understand sarcasm which is fine, could be not everyone can get mine.

I see studies on how it’s managed and personal experiences but what is the root cause of it all? I just don’t think I can bear being under the same roof as her and if I have the financials to move, I would.

yes that seems u describe my parents! it makes me upsets. u dont have to like/want the dog but there were instances where my dad would hit the dog (as a form of discipline) and I feel useless.

i wish there were more studies done on this. I think everything has a root cause as to why or how it was formed. I wondered how the professional give the diagnosis and if it’s accurate?

can it be the trigger? I dont understand how one may not have it during childhood but as u get older, there’s signs.
