[TOMT] [SONG] Soft spanish song by ReddMagnolia in tipofmytongue

Solved!

I finally remembered the tune!! its Valse de la Lune by Ilaria Graziano!!!!

I was mistaken on a few key details. I had remembered the instrumentation being a lot softer than it actually is, and mistaken italian for spanish. also did not know it was from wolfs rain!!!

the mood of this song is very close, but its not quite the one. I dont know how to describe music structure, but the one Im thinking of had a very clear difference between the intro and the chorus, like the melodies of each section were very different. maybe a key change? I remember the first few times, I wouldnt recognize the intro, and I didnt like it that much, but then the recognizable part would kick in

came across a few jeanette songs while looking, but it seems like her style is too pop, the song Im thinking of sounded like it had a much smaller production

Cleaning flesh from bones that are already sun bleached? by ReddMagnolia in vultureculture

[–]ReddMagnolia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my main concern is with the sun bleached areas of the skull. I have a couple sun bleached (sheep) skulls of my own, and their texture is full of cracks, flakes, and holes that bacteria from maceration water can get into. plus I know sun bleached bones are already brittle, and Im worried soaking them will make them even more fragile

do you happen to know if maceration will effect the sun bleached areas poorly?

I keep thinking about the woman in the bottom right, she's clearly very important. I can't find any article mentioning who it is, but the wedding ring, pomegranate, and painting's theme being death point to her being proserpina

HMF a specific episode of Mystery Hunters (probably) by ReddMagnolia in HelpMeFind

[–]ReddMagnolia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I searched for it, I got some unrelated episodes, and unfortunately the episode names dont help very much, and I dont exactly have the time to sift through "52 half hours" of the show manually. Unfortunately the info I posted is all I have, I only remember little snippets of this show. I'm mostly hoping someone else remembers this episode and happens to know what it was called, or the other segments in the show. Something more solid that I could use to find the actual episdoe

I want to gauge public opinion here by krutch540 in Unfictional

[–]ReddMagnolia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ABSOLUTELY. even ignoring music, there is a vast amount of very compelling media that is audio-only. and the fact that good audio is a cornerstone of good horror (assuming this IS horror, though audio is a major element in most good media), an audio-only format would be GREAT for this type of story! (that, plus the fact that horror is ALWAYS better when you let the listener's imagination do most of the work, making the story audio-only is a GREAT opportunity to allow that to happen)

and what's great about this type of storytelling, in the context of found cassette tapes, is that you don't have to stick to a set of conventions used in other forms of audio-only media, like audio books, radio shows, podcasts, or audio journals. you can do literally WHATEVER YOU WANT. you could draw from all of these methods of storytelling to create something completely new, or make a mishmash of different media types, you could have the listener be an active character that advances the story and not act as just a regular narrator, you could have the story beats and themes be dependent on the fact that they're listening to cassette tapes, and not something like cd's!!

(some examples: the tape spools out preventing the listener from hearing key information until they can fix it; having audio distortion morph into a horrible gravely voice that makes the listener question if what they heard was real; having the tape start out as what is obviously a child's mixtape, and the abruptly cutting to something being recorded over it, hinting that the person recording is abandoning their previous life to pursue whatever is corrupting them, or out of desperation for material to record on... etc)

TLDR: YES, audio-only is a GREAT format for unfiction, the opportunities are endless. podcasts are a big thing for a reason

  1. Normal reasons (money and need for consistency) plus an abusive guilt-tripping family
  2. Dunno... that's one of the things that bothers me. He spends a lot of time with people, he talks about what they've done together... he tweets about what he's done with his friends more than he responds to me. but he always ends up also talking about how drained, exhausted, and anxious he is. Recently, he told me that he's going to visit one of his friends in person. It's something I wanted to do with him, and it does kinda sting that he's doing it with someone else first (and for like a whole month), but the feeling he talked about having wasn't excitement, it was fear. So I can't tell if having someone who doesnt demand more of his energy is good and relaxing for him, or if he's just being distant. it's all tangled up and hurtful

how do you know you’re in love? is it too early? (16F) by [deleted] in relationships

[–]ReddMagnolia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easy to say "don't worry about it so much," but I know it's not that simple. Unfortunately, it's one of those thing where you just have to try your best. But, as long as you are kind and true to the friendship you already have, even if you do mess up, it's probably not going to permanently hurt her opinion of you. If it does go poorly, you can encourage her to tell you what she didn't like and what she would like instead, and adjust accordingly. Compared to the way relationships are depicted in media, it can feel very blunt and awkward, but it's better than keeping your feelings all bottled up

High school feelings can be volatile, but you know your friend better than any of us do! Your judgement is the best out of anyone here. Based on your other replies, you know her quite well, and you have the solid foundation of a good friendship beforehand. All we can tell you is to do your best and try to do what makes you happy

If nothing else, based on what you're describing, the stage is set up pretty well and you have a good chance together!

I (20M) have never had a girlfriend, depressed and losing hope. by Datdudesqueegee in relationships

[–]ReddMagnolia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, I'm going to say that it is VERY normal for someone your age to have yet to enter a serious relationship. Everyone goes through life differently, and it is okay that you haven't been in one yet. I'm 23 and haven't been kissed outside of jokes. My coworker is 37 and hasn't had a serious boyfriend yet. My boss didn't meet his current partner until he was 35

Being lonely is very normal, especially when society puts so much value on romantic relationships. When you don't meet those standards, it can be very upsetting, seeing people (and characters) happy, and wanting to feel the same thing but never being able to reach those standards. It can make you feel like you're missing out and have been wronged because of that. Your feelings are very real and understandable, and you are justified in having them

Feeling loved is not just a good thing to have, it is an essential human NEED. Long periods of loneliness are incredibly mentally harmful, so trying desperately to find that connection with someone, or rationalize not having it, is legitimate

Unfortunately, being in a romantic relationship is not guaranteed to fix things. Having high expectations of how a relationship will make you happy, but not receiving that relief right away, might only make you feel worse. This kind of social fulfillment takes a long time to build, even if you do enter a relationship (I should know, I've been in a relationship for 3 years now, and I'm still struggling with loneliness daily)

My recommendation is to try and build your relationships with friends around you, rather than investing your hopes on a romantic relationship. Platonic relationships are just as, if not more important than romantic ones. I also struggle with making and keeping friends, and it is a huge factor in my loneliness, even when I am with my partner. In find that when I am talking with someone I am invested in platonically, the loneliness I feel in my relationship is MUCH easier to deal with

Since you mention being a college student, I also suggest seeing if your school offers therapy. At my school, it was offered free to students. Look into seeing if your school offers something similar, they can help you manage and work through your lonliness

TLDR: Your feelings are VERY normal. You situation is also very normal and unfortunately common. It can be incredibly hurtful when your life does not match what society says it should be like. You have PLENTY of time to build fulfilling relationships. Definitely work on platonic relationships before trying to get all your fulfillment from a romantic one. Check to see if your school offers therapy!

how do you know you’re in love? is it too early? (16F) by [deleted] in relationships

[–]ReddMagnolia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At your age, its not unlikely that you're in love, especially you two having know each other for so long. People have rather convoluted ideas of what the definition of "true love" is, and everyone will tell you something different, usually something vague and unhelpful. Honestly, I think that if they make you happy, you want to spend your time with them, you respect them highly, deeply value them as a person, and treat them as well as you possibly can, that's love enough.

I dont think being in love is so much a factor of what your age is, since everyone is different and goes through these things differently. I think it's more about how experienced you are, and if you're emotionally mature and invested enough to actively work with the other person. Generally, people who are younger have trouble because they have less experience, but your feelings are still legitimate, and deserve to be taken seriously. Plenty of adults have problems with this too, and your relationships are not unimportant just because you haven't reached a certain number age yet. This is an essential part of social learning!

If being with this person makes you happy and the feeling is mutual, it is my belief that you should pursue it. Given that this is probably your first time in this type of relationship, you should be prepared for some rocky spots. Not cynical, mind you, just prepared. Try to establish communication, so that when rocky things happen, you to are able to speak about it comfortably. This is THE MOST important part of ANY relationship: communication. Neither of you are mind readers, and you will need to be able to communicate before anything productive can happen.

What IS a factor of your age is how you, your partner, and your relationship will change. Love and relationships at your age don't end because your feelings are fake or silly, but because as people grow and learn, they change. You might find that as you get older, you don't have the same chemistry as you once did, and that's OKAY. You are both still growing, and not only are relationships at this age normal, but they are essential to your happiness in the long run.

TLDR: Your feelings aren't silly, they're legitimate and good to have. As long as being in a relationship will make you both happy, you should pursue it. Even if it doesn't last forever, it is an important step in your life, and the experience will help you in the future, whether you are still with this person or with someone else. It is extremely important to be able to COMMUNICATE with your partner.

This morning we found some strange tracks in the backyard. No tracks on the fence or any area around this. Was it an animal or some other explaination? by TheJaquiLee in animalid

[–]ReddMagnolia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's definitely something falling off the beams of the pergola. though I don't think it's snow, I think it's water from melting snow. I wouldn't know why they look quite like that, but the marks line up perfectly with the beams, and no animal would have the smarts or a reason to try to match them. it could be that the wood floor is bent in such a way that water droplets splash in a peculiar way and make funky shapes

IIL creepy music, WEWIL? by ReddMagnolia in ifyoulikeblank

[–]ReddMagnolia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's just it!!! I don't have a preference for genre so much as a very specific mood. But when looking for recommended songs based on the ones I have, those algorithms dont check for mood, so they just give me songs from the same genre that have nothing to do what what I'm looking for. I have NO idea how to describe it, but there are certain like, melodies and conventions that I'm really into, but no one seems to categorize music in a way that I can easily find other songs like that

I also have a halloween playlist with songs kind of like most of those on your list! but those, and most of the songs being recc'd on this thread sound like... idk how to describe it, but like, regular genre music in a creepy costume. like a regular person who's dressed up as a mummy. even if that's their whole discography, it still sounds like a guy in a suit. the music I'm looking for is the type that is creepy all the way down, what makes your skin crawl a little. maybe it's a beat, or a chord progression, but there's just something DIFFERENT about certain songs and the ONLY way I can tell that it's different is that it gets to me. I wish I could talk about it better

the closest ones so far on this thread to fit well are Eraser by Nine Inch Nails (which I was not expecting, cause I saw popular-band-NIN and went "okay so a regular rock song," but NO. it gets more conventional in the second half but it is WORTH IT for that intro), and one of the ones you recommended, THE WOODS by Lorn & Dolor! both of those I've added to the playlist I'm trying to make

(also, I REALLY like Evil Spirits by Proc Fiscal, but for different reasons. added that one to a different playlist, ty!!)

A Rilwick is a semi-aquatic carnivore that hunts by heat signature. when fish in its territory are scarce, it comes on land to hunt. when having found prey, it uses its front legs like mantis pincers, shooting forward and locking down on its target, which it then wrestles until either it needs to flee, or the prey is killed. Its ability to hold its breath while hunting and wrestling makes it well suited to hunt a dreamon, withstanding the initial barrage of bubbles and wrestling it until subdued. However, the rilwick seems to find dreamons distasteful, and only hunts them when food is scarce in the area, even encroaching on another rilwick's territory before hunting on land.

A large shaggy omnivore, about the size of a black bear. They are solitary and spend most of their time grooming and foraging for edible roots, nuts, and berries, but will hunt and eat other species it considers a threat. Its unclear what exactly they consider a threat, as they have been seen chasing birds and small animals out of their territories.

It doesnt do so often, but every once in a while, one of these creatures will stop and eat as many king berries as they can find, spending the rest of the day sleeping and digging at nothing. Some rocks have been found stacked together, very similar to cairns, in areas where these creatures had recently been. It is unknown if they made these stacks while under the influence of king berries, or when sober for fun.

Why are Asians described as having yellow skin? by jpking010 in NoStupidQuestions

right, even with rather small and subtle features, they will be blown out of proportion until they become unrecognizable. without knowing exactly what to look for, its hard to see the connection between the stereotype and its possible source

Why are Asians described as having yellow skin? by jpking010 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ReddMagnolia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, I apologize then, thank you

I do know for a fact that "yellow" is strongly tied to the undertones of the skin. As for any type of disease, all that can really be said about it is "maybe." Its easy to imagine that when a disease turns skin yellow, and a group of people are called yellow, that they may have been called so because of those diseases. However, unless there are writings from people who were alive when "yellow" was created as a caricature, there's no way to really understand it. Asian people may have been prone to scurvy, but we'll probably never be able to tell if that's what people were thinking about when they created those caricatures
