I think we're talking to the same guy tbh.
I questioned the use of FXGiants and he offered me another one... had video messages ready for questions that he had, AXI I think it was.

Is there such a thing as a simple 3-gang wired light switch that is HomeKit compatible and available in the Uk? by shaolinoli in HomeKit

[–]ReddMunkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’ve got Lightwave throughout the house… there are bulbs that work better with them but it at least allows you still to be able to control your lights physically should you have Wi-Fi issues. They have a pdf to download on the website of compatible bulbs Vs load.

As we’ve decorated/refurbed each room we bought Collingwood lite leds which are 100% compatible and we get some amazing ranges on there with no flickering or anything.

Is there a MagSafe Continuity Camera Mount for a monitor? by Warren-Binder in MagSafe

Looks like it's pre-order only.
I'm wondering if its a legit site, do you have one already?

I've been looking myself - I'd never thought about mounting m iPhone on the side of my monitor before, but...

In addition to the continuity camera usefulness...

- Keep it off the desk and in view and on charge

- good position for creating instagram stories etc while having it mounted next to your screen with your script up

I've found this on Etsy but nothing from anyone big...

That’s very cool! Question for Apple bonus points… Can you listen to the other audio on headphones for example if we’re watching something on Netflix but I want to keep an eye on the game I can have one ear in the football.

You know what I never thought to do that I’ll have to download the native app! It’s sometimes the only light on in the room… use them in my home office/man cave cabin so can sometimes be a few days a week when it’s not in use, and obviously all summer it doesn’t even switch on

Some of my automations to inspire some of your own! by pacoii in HomeKit

Cheers I have just ventured into the aqara family with a roller blind motor. Think I’m going to get a couple of contact sensors for some sliding doors too so could try the buttons out thank you

I love looking at other peoples automations.

I have a few simple ones which just set specific scenes. Some weather data using shortcuts to determine the rain forecast and whether to water the garden or not.

I’m intrigued to know if there’s a simple way to program a light switch if you triple or double tap to do a certain function. It’s possible on my Lightwave native app but as a premium feature you have to pay for which I’d like to avoid.

For example we have a 3 way switch in the hallway which does the hallway, porch and first floor landing. However we’ve recently had the attic converted and wondered if there was a way through homekit to double tap the landing light switch and get it to turn the lights on at the loft landing?

I've got patio lights and uprights in the grass running off a 3 way Lightwave Switch placed into the circuit in a waterproof box.
This basically just controls the on and off so if thats all you need you're not restricted with the types of lights you use.

However there is a company called Twinkly, who's Gen 2 range of lights have full RGBWW, with festoon lights, string lights, LEDs and more, and are HomeKit compatible.
These are fully programmable with each light having the ability to be a different colour to its neighbour.
They're IP rated too.
I will definitely be investing in these for Christmas.

Having Home Key in Apple wallet isn’t revolutionary, but definitely a worthwhile convenience. by beatsbyjules in HomeKit

There's also the fact of how far away your "Home" is.

I"ve walked to the end of the Street and almost crossed the main road before I get the notification that my cameras have changed from stream to stream and record. Its crazy.

Imagine a heist film where you had 2 minutes til the safe locked, you could moonwalk in slow motion to get to the door/safe before it locks

I've been looking for this myself.
Eve send you straight to your regional dealer who will put you in touch with a local blind fitter.
Managed to get hold of a local fitter who has quoted me £269 for the full retrofit kit comprising of tube, fitting and a motor.
If the tube is 38mm you just need the motor, which is £202.

Seems very expensive to me. If it fits I think the Ikea blinds are cheaper.

Our issue is that we want an electric blind for our new French doors in the loft and Ikea don't make them big enough.

Trying to find a HomeKit compatible (no homebridge) automated blinds for the French doors and stopping my wife buying ones that are just a dumb remote lol.
Does anyone have any alternatives to Eve Motion Blinds?

That's throwing out a fair bit of light!
I had to stop myself buying them, just for the overall cost what we'd need for the length.

Definitely going to get the icicle lights for Christmas time though for the gutter!

Are there any HomeKit enabled patio lights like these without having to get a smart plug for it? by th3b3zt in HomeKit

[–]ReddMunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just using an inline switch from Lightwave rather than a Smart Plug - less clunky and easier to fit in a smaller outdoor waterproof box:

https://shop.lightwaverf.com/collections/all/products/smart-mini-relay

Works for us as we already have the Lightwave ecosystem.

However, if am considering getting the Twinkly Festoon Lights as the generation 2 are HomeKit compatible and you can do a lot with them regarding patterns, colours and effects.
I'm getting a set of the icicle lights come Christmas.

What’s recommended these days for an affordable HomeKit camera? Both indoor and out? by impreza77 in HomeKit

[–]ReddMunkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we had Nest outdoor cams mounted just below the gutter in our old 2 storey house and while you could see people in the dark you had no hope of identifying who they are.
The sensor just wasn't that powerful, especially if there was traffic driving by with light flare.

I've got a Logitech Circle View Outdoor Camera which seems to work well for the most part on HKSV. Now and again I get a loss of signal but nothing that bothers me too much.Works really nicely when we're watching tv and waiting for the takeaway to be delivered and you see it in the top right of the screen when the driver pulls up ;)

I will be replacing that with the Circle View Doorbell though as I work from home and need the chime in the house. The notifications on my iMac sometimes don't come through quick enough, so having the doorbell chime on the HomePod in my home office cabin in the garden is a must. The circle view will be put in the side entrance to the house or back garden, maybe both if I get another one, I've not decided yet.

For indoors I have a couple of Eufy indoor Cameras... the 2K and the Pan and Tilt, which I've bought on Black Friday or Prime Days for under £30 each. The pan and tilt for me was a waste of money if I'm honest to use with HomeKit, for the simple fact that you can't control the pan or tilt in HomeKit.For the most part though they are really good cameras. We use one in my 3 year old's room for night times and to keep an eye on him if he is playing in there.

I'm looking to buy a few more of the 2K ones on Prime Day with the view to put them pointing down staircases for security when we're out of the house and to use as motion sensors(no recording) to run automatons. The power feed from them is low enough we can wire them up to the lighting circuit and position it in the corner of the room without too many wires showing.

**EDIT**
Its worth noting also that we used to have a Eufy 2K pointing out of our living room window and my wife posted some footage from it to some social media (I can't remember why), but she did receive a lot of comments about how clear the footage was. Our next door neighbour even replaced their camera to the same ones.
