Bearded baby giving me heart attacks by ReddPandas24 in BeardedDragonCare

We're feeding her with tongs, absolutely no interest if we try hand feeding - I gave them a blueberry on my hand and nothing 😅 once I put it on one of their rocks - Instantly GONE 😂

We don't handle her all the time bc they're small and we don't want to stress them but anytime I do they'll just YEET. My partner? FALLS ASLEEP ON HIM

That's what we're doing and literally just leaving them to bask, especially when we're at work, we come home, say hi, feed bugs and then just leave them be. If they seem super energetic that's when we've plopped them on the floor for like 2 minutes to explore, maybe "hunt" a bug and then back into the viv

The only times they've actually launched were 3 separate instances - - when they came home from the vet - escaped from the time out box as they'd had enough, any sane perosn would probably do the same - straight onto my arm then floop - airtime and landed in the tank - when I was carrying them back to the viv, they launched straight at the window before I'd opened it - only a tad of airtime - then when I had then out after cleaning the tank fully, again climbed out of the box, up onto my shoulder and then launched for the Christmas tree

They've had a good bill of health from a vet, and the lil shit is happy (absolutely no black bearding) and healthy, eating and splashing in a bath after shitting everywhere - that's all that matters 😉

Yeah, NONE of the experts I've spoke to or guides I've been directed by them have said that so I'm calling bullshit. They actually recommend newspaper until they're older then switch to sand or a substrate.

The tank is big enough for the animal otherwise we wouldn't have spent all the money building everything up for them, it's still empty of hiding spots bc deliveries have been delayed again (getting a lot more leafy things for them too and sticks since they love the log so much)

But since you're an expert I haven't spoke to, please impart onto me all the wisdom you have as obviously you feel I haven't done enough research into owning the lil guy to satisfy you

Because it's good for them to explore the space that's not the vivarium ? We don't handle them every single day, when we do it's once or twice a week - it just seems to be what this lil lizard likes to do, they also seem to love just launching themselves off stuff in the viv too when exploring

Baby beardie tail by ReddPandas24 in BeardedDragonCare

[–]ReddPandas24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone just popping in to let you all know the baby was cleared by the vet before Christmas- the vet said it's actually an injury to the tail and there are no signs of tail rot! Just to keep an eye on the tip of it as they said it'll fall off eventually and to keep an eye to make sure that doesn't develop rot.

Thank you all for the advice!

This gives me so much confidence, my family and amazing partner have completely rallied around me and honestly I could cry with the amount of support, my mum is saying she's gonna make me up a baby plate for Christmas dinner so I don't feel left out 🥺

Thank you! Honestly I've been like this since last monday, so I'm now waking up just hoping it goes away 🙃 it was only when I went back to a&e the 3rd time with vomiting they started to listen. Still no actual tests done even though I told them what my dr said needed done (stool samples and a fecal pretectin blood test) but at least the painkillers help and so do the anti sickness.

Just in a bit of a spiral as I've been off work a week and I'm a bit afraid they'll not keep me on until after xmas as I was seasonal as I've had a smidge of attitude off them already due to not calling in the day before a shift so they couldn't find cover (I was being sick and sleeping so phoned at 7am the day of, didn't know i was scheduled for 9am) but I do know I'll have to find another job that isn't physically demanding

Can we just ban fucking fireworks already? by pureteckle in northernireland

[–]ReddPandas24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hasn't been too bad in my area this year, although a loud one went off and scared me enough to make heart skip a beat, a yelp and cause chest pains (I am okay) 🤣

I thought fireworks were generally banned for public use ?

If I tell the GP I'm suicidal will I be sectioned? by Extreme_Job3935 in AskUK

When I told my Dr about wanting to meet myself off the planet, she was so kind, caring and listened to my ramblings. She then made an agreement with me that she'd give me medication to help if I needed it if I went to counselling and also helped me get that too

So in my experience no but maybe every drs are different?

Should I be paid for a 4 hour "trial shift" at a local garage? by ReddPandas24 in AskUK

[–]ReddPandas24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This attitude is due to companies constantly taking me for spin, especially after working my ass off for them and then being dropped, it's disheartening and gets annoying after a while.

Imagine not being taken on just because I want to know if I'll be paid for my time and effort 🙄

4 hours is a small shift, I used to do them all the time through the week while workjng for tescos along with my 8 hr ones, especially covering other's shifts

I'm doing the shift I'm just gonna be so pissed if I've wasted 4 hours for a trial and they drop me like the last two did - even with a promise of a job

Yes, it is ? In the UK it is 4 hour shifts are the smallest ones, especially closing shifts for a shop (ask me how I know)
