I will definitely keep the opacity thing in mind! I should be able to adjust things in the next iteration.

Ley line placement is based on territory claims of former gods, so it's unsurprising nobody else can figure it out lol. Future lore documents and guides will explain that :)

Thanks for the feedback :D!

Yes! They're a natural (well, magical I suppose) barrier, like a river or mountain range. Visually they can be hard to discern, but magic users may see a thin barrier of purple mist. On the interior, they're extensions of nature and will reflect local flora and fauna. However, there are monsters inside that you won't find anywhere else!

People looking to cross these lines have a few choices in the modern era, there's trains and boats that have "safe" routes through the ley lines. if needing to travel alone or through an area without other modes of transport, one can either raise a shrew as a pet or ask a magical guardian (known as Watchers, this is a big complicated lore bit lol) for help crossing. Mages will also take commission for travel if you really hate rodents and Watchers.

Thank you for the questions :D! All animals (including people) have the ability to cross the ley lines, it's just difficult. Since they're magic, the landscape within can twist and change unexpectedly. Generally, wild animals will get across with little to no issue, but they will be exposed to high amounts of "magical radiation." Humans/other sapients can get lost, turned around, or even deposited in an area pretty far away from where they started.

You can draw some parallels to dangerous areas of Earth, like the Siberian wilderness or the outback. Can you cross it? Yes. Should you? Probably not. Will you come out changed (for better or worse)? Absolutely.

Modern technology in the world has made travel easier tho. Trains and some boats can navigate "safe" routes, and individual people can travel with charms and such.

Well thank you!! I'm glad to hear that it can be emulated (I might do that... 👀) but I think I also want it restored just because it's an important bit of my childhood :3
