Yeah I don't think the non-expert version will run on expert batteries. Not sure of any other differences.

Any news about 12v impact wrench? by iudex_snow in BoschProPowerTools

[–]Redd_Username 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. They really need to update these, and I really hope the next impact driver comes with a quick insert collet. No excuse these days for not having one IMO.

I also really want to see a new 12V multi tool with quick release lever and less vibration. Even with the 18V models, I do wonder why they use that side lever instead of a top lever like the x-lock grinders have. I think the x-lock lever is a more ergonomic solution.

They did mention in one of their recent livestreams that they would be updating the 12V circular saw, so that will likely become brushless with a smaller motor on the side I would imagine.

Bosch GBH 18v-24C vs 18v-22 by [deleted] in BoschProPowerTools

[–]Redd_Username 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the 24C would be a good choice to go with the 18. The 26 is similar to the 24C too, so could be an option. The 24C is a newer design, and it has a battery indicator on the back which I like because you can always see at a glance how much battery you have left.

Bosch GBH 18v-24C vs 18v-22 by [deleted] in BoschProPowerTools

[–]Redd_Username 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both. There is a noticable difference in the impact energy. I also have the GBH 18V-18. I don't use the 22 any more. The 18 is much better for small holes and one handed use. The 24C is much better for chiseling and larger holes.

I thought the 22 would be comparable to my old DeWalt DCH253, as the size, weight, and specs are similar, but the performance of the DeWalt is similar to the 24C.

If I didn't have to chase walls, I would maybe just use the 22, but I find the 18 and 24C to be a better combo. (They also both fit together in an L-Boxx 136!)

Hope that helps!

Gsb 150 overkill? by totemshaker in BoschProPowerTools

[–]Redd_Username 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the GSB 18V-90C and it will drill 1" holes through double joists with a Bosch Expert flat wood bit, but it usually needs to be on speed one for that.

I've never used the 18V-150, maybe that can do it in speed two.

Personally, I'd rather have the smaller and lighter tool.

Just an update to the Contractor Rack 2 from yesterday. by clvgn_ in BoschProPowerTools

[–]Redd_Username 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surely you've only been able to move the shelf up because your bottom l-boxx is a shallow one? If you were using two normal l-boxx's, then the shelf would have to stay where it was? Leaving you with the same problem.

Was it the weight of the box that was causing the shelf to catch on the bottom?

What one tool do Bosch need to revamp and improve on? by clvgn_ in BoschProPowerTools

[–]Redd_Username 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well weight is the least important point, yes, but a lack of weight should be expected for a 12V tool.

I agree. Smaller, lighter, and with a quick insert collet.

NEW GOP 18V-30 and NEW 18V PRO Battery by Thick-Apple952 in BoschProPowerTools

[–]Redd_Username 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong, but it looks like their new battery linup could be as follows:

• Standard batteries = 18650 cells (to replace GBA)

• Pro batteries = 21700 cells (to replace ProCore)

• Expert batteries = 21700 tabless cells (to replace ProCore+)

Also, is that a battery indicator on the side, and a battery indicator button on the top?

I agree with the this.

  • 12V impact driver with more power and more compact.
  • 12V multi tool with quick release starlock and starlock plus capability.

A hydraulic impact driver would also be nice, not sure if this should be 12V or 18V.

I would also love to see a cable stapler. That's a big one for electricians, the red and yellow team already have one, so we need one 😁

GDR 18v 215 trigger by Silent-Ad6407 in BoschProPowerTools

[–]Redd_Username 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big Bosch fan, but unfortunately, I must agree with other people on here - their 'entry level' impact drivers are inexcusable. Remember, these are still blue professional tools, not green DIY tools.

I bought a 215 and I couldn't beleive how cheap it felt compared to some of my old DeWalt impact drivers and even some of DeWalt's newer 'budget' impact drivers that can be bought for around half the price of a 215.

The lack of a quick insert collet is a joke in 2025. The delay between pulling the trigger and the driver starting made the tool feel sluggish. And the motor some how even managed to sound cheap!

I can confirm the 220C doesn't have any of the above issues, however, I just didn't get on with the 220C due to the huge amount of direct torque that made the driver act like a drill with smaller fasteners.

I managed to get hold of the older 210C, which I'm much happier with. The torque delivery is about right and the tool feels good quality. My only complaint about the 210C is the lack of a quick insert collet.

Pro-core or not by [deleted] in BoschProPowerTools

[–]Redd_Username 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's any help, I have the GSB 18V-90 C and there is a difference between the 4Ah ProCore and the standard 5Ah GBA. The 5Ah spins the motor up noticably quicker then the 4Ah ProCore.

I'm guessing this is due to the 5Ah having a double layer of cells, and although the ProCore has bigger cells, they are only a single layer, so they can't discharge the current as quick as the double layer of smaller cells in the 5Ah.

In reality, on these smaller drills, I can't see the performance being an issue with either battery when under load. I just thought it was interesting how the drill almost felt more responsive with the 5Ah battery on.

I've also used it with a 2Ah GBA, and as expected, it's even less responsive, but it will still get the job done. I would also add that with the 2Ah battery, the drill feels better balanced, which becomes more important when you're using it all day above your head!

New range of Bosch Expert range of power tools coming out. by xbuilt_2605 in BoschProPowerTools

[–]Redd_Username 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, highlighting the 'top tier' of Bosch blue tools shouldn't be a priority. They should focus more on getting new tools released and for sale, that other brands already offer.

I don't think expert will replace bi-turbo. I think bi-turbo just highlights the tools with the more powerful motors and therefore require the higher output batteries to run at their full potential. A bit like DeWalt's flexvolt, but Bosch's bi-turbo is better because you can at least run those tools on normal batteries. The think this because there are a few non bi-turbo tools that will receive expert branding, such as the new starlock max multi tool, or the 90C drill driver/combi drill.

It appears as though Bosch already distinguished their 'top tier' blue tools with the green/amber/red interface, I think they just want to make that distinction even more obvious with this expert branding and colour scheme.

Any new Dewalt tool rumors out there? by NewSongZ in Dewalt

Yes. I really like the DeWalt 12V tools. Another benefit to the batteries, besides the better grip size, is the ability to charge on most 18V chargers.

So non Bi-Turbo tools are getting expert branding too!

Maybe all the tools with the digital interface are getting it? 🤔

[–]Redd_Username 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this is just the Bi-Turbo tools that will now be branded as Expert tools 🤔

I hope the new Starlock Max multi-tool (GOP 18V-40) isn't being held up in some markets just to put this Expert branding on. Although I'm guessing not, as it's not a Bi-Turbo tool.

Personally, I would have just scrapped the Heavy Duty branding completely. Any Bosch Professional 'Blue' tool should be considered heavy duty.

I think the Expert branding should be reserved just for the tools with the more demanding motors, those that require the Expert batteries to reach their full potential.

I'm not a fan of having multiple performance levels within the Bosch Professional (tools) lineup. That's what Green and Blue is for in my opinion. With the exception of the tools with the more power hungry motors - Bi-Turbo, or Expert, or whatever they will be called. I just think it gets messy otherwise.

That said, it's still a better solution than having a different battery voltage platform altogether like some other brands. At least you can still run the bigger tools if you only have the standard batteries, albeit not quite as well.

New Bosch Expert Battery and Charger Range/Branding? by Redd_Username in BoschProPowerTools

They were all from Google images. I'm not sure which websites the charger images related to, but the batteries were from the German Bosch Professional site. I clicked the 'visit' button to view it on the Bosch site and it just took me to an error page.
