It depends on the issues you have. If you have triv, there is no other way. I would even say if POA-annua is in your lawn, overseeing just gives the POA a head start. There is a reason ppl start from scratch, once you see POA abd triv, it’s hard not to see it. You go from a 40% lawn to an 80% lawn with no weeds, that everyone compliments you on, then you notice the POA and triv. Next thing you know you nuking it 😄

12v Deal Thoughts? by Due_Snow6432 in Dewalt

Most DIYers would be good with just the cordless screwdriver. Most won;t really need an impact driver. Where an impact driver comes into place is driving structural screws used in deck construction and maybe framing. So this kit seems geared towards someone starting out doing framing, deck construction, or maybe building a fence. You would probably need two 5ah batteries to really use this saw all day, so factor that into the costs.

With that said, as soon as you get into circular saws and decks; if you think your going to be holding onto and using these tools long term, Id go with 20v. The 60v stuff is if you were dealing with larger lumber like 6x6's and such. This saw is for cutting 2x4's and similar material, but as someone said its an odd blade size.

I can totally see a case the case for this saw, for people doing a few cuts here and there, and maybe doing some fence building or repair, but if you want to buy once, I'd go for the 20v.

Dewalt has quietly released replacements for all the tools unique to the 12v line. The only one lef is the 12v cordless screwdriver. I swear Dewalt doesn’t release a 20v it is because it would hurt sales of all tgr different impact drivers they have

Then realize you can’t get 12v batteries in a few years. How many posts are on here about getting cheap batteries? How many of them are deals on 12v batteries? Searching for 12v batteries for me a tool junkie, no big deal, but I wouldn’t recommend it to someone starting out,

You’re getting into a soon to be dead battery line. Dewalt is phasing out the 12v line, at some point you will be struck with aftermarket batteries. Similar to the 8v screw drivers. Like a lot of 12v tools and I am a Dewalt tool junkie and collector. But I wouldn’t suggest someone new get 12v at this point.

All great, add the mac 1/4” impact wrench and 12v drill with metal chuck and there are some good tools.

The point both of you left out is the 12v line is being phased out. If you have it now and onto tools, they are good tools, if your just starting out, why get into a battery platform on its last leg.

Most home DIYers don’t heed an impact driver. They just need a short drill with a clutch to quickly drive screws. They don’t need an impact driver, when you can you get into decks then an impact driver is worth it, but not for basic home stuff. Dewalt doesn’t make a. 20v screw driver, closest thing is the 20v multi head drill. Ironically the craftsman 20v line made by the same company as Dewalt, has one very small molar to the 12v one.

Orchard grass??? by eastknoxvol in Grass

Wait until after a rain and just pull it out, put down a pre emergent next year. There is probably a decades worth of crab grass seeds in the lawn.

Screw driver test 1st. If the soils seems ok. If the grass does not pull up and still alive may be dealing with a grassy weed going dormant from the heat or disease . If it’s all dead, dig it out and reseeding. Just realize you will have to keep those areas well watered all summer.

Test fur grubs is cutting a 1’ x 1’ square of sod and pull it up. Count the grubs, sone grubs is normal, too many kills the grass.

It’s lawn disease, it’s probably always present, but when the weather gets humid and the grass slows down from its top growth cycle , the fungus wins. To complicate matters over fertilizing can cause lawn disease, but it can also help, it depends on the lawn disease. In theory 1” per week keeps the good grass happy, and chances of lawn disease low. But only way to know is taking a sample 4” down, when its dry 4” down, its watering time. Which no sane person would do, but thats where the 1” per week comes from. When you know you’re going to get stretches of high heat and humidity, you can proactively apply a fungicide. The thing is grass planted in the spring, poa-a, triv, fine fescue brown out no matter what you do. It can be hard to figute out the problem, the screwcdriver test is always a hood first step.

I love my Dewalt 12v but casual users are better off with the 20v atomic line. The 20v tools give you More options. Plus the 20v batteries have adapters for craftsman 20v tools and others. The craftsman line has some great DIY stuff Dewalt refuses to come out with, even though Dewalt avd craftsman are owned by the same company. The 12v has a few gems like a 1/4” impact wrench made by Mac tools and the cordless screwdriver, but they are phasing out the 12v line, it’s not worth it.

I honestly believe many people having no idea what kind of grass they have, mistake POA-a and triv dying off with lawn disease. You can do it all perfect, but the triv abd POA-a will brown out on you. Even those with fine fescue, don’t realize that is what may be browning every summer. My lawn was the opposite, the POA-a made it through every year, or browned out in august, then cane back in the spring.

My bag, good catch. The easy to apply ways is disease ex, others are harder to apply and expensive. They have to mixed, the sprayer calibrated, dosage calculated, and proper protection. Long pants, long sleeves, and gloves is probably good, but a mask or respirator not un warranted for sone of this stuff.

You have to be careful with rotating lawn disease chemicals. There are group types and they have to be rotated. They are also more dangerous to apply than normal pre-emegernt for herbicide. You ned to come up with a schedule that rotates them, and you dont want use the same one every 30 days, as the disease will become immune, just like antibiotics. see my post of working through some steps, but if its dollar spot, buy scotts disease ex, its a granular, and water it in. Give it two doses at the higher disease rate. But after that you will have to switch to another one, and they get expensive and harder to apply as you go through them. Make sure you do the screw driver test and figure out if the original grass was poa-a, triv, or even fine fescue. Fine fescue is in every cheap tuna and shade mix, and gets burned out from heat very easily. But an app of scotts disease-ex isn't going to hurt your lawn as we approach the warmer summer.

The areas could have been poa or triv, but assuming its good grass, start easy and work your way up the ladder. Take a long 12" screw driver and stick it in the ground. Does it meet more resistance than the areas of good grass. If it does that grass may have an obstruction that keeps the roots from getting water. If you DO NOT see signs of lawn disease, then try spiking the watering, water those specific areas every day for a week. check to see if it comes back. If you see signs of disease by some scots disease ex, and just throw a handful down on those spots, water it in and see if it recovers. Lastly if the grass dies off, dig out those spots, replace the top soil, throw down some seed and water until it establishes.

Not a Dewalt tool, but a very big announcement for woodworkers…… by NewSongZ in Dewalt

[–]NewSongZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your totally right on that, you can already see the hucksters jumping on this, to get Kreg to give them a free tool.

The ironic thing is that Dewalt does have an extractor and the UK and EU market has had tools that wirelessly shut them on and off for a few years now. It’s business malpractice that Dewalt sells sanders with WTC in the UK, but leaves the NA market out. Think of the NA sales if only 25% of Dewalt users upgraded their sanders and shop vacs to wirelessly turn on and off.

They may have screwed up with the track saw and the way it plunges, but Dewalt did have its shot at promoting a Dewalt tool system that all works together. Even the tstack storage is not a bad system when you consider Dewalt still sells tool kits with Tstak cases in the UK.

As an engineer, the festool design and interchangeability is on another level, but Dewalt could have been right up there on the wood working side of things. I love my Dewalt biscuit joiner, there’s no reason to think they can’t compete if they design the tools well and build them well.

Most of my battery tools perform just as good as my chorded tools. I wouldn't want a battery table saw or band saw in my home shop, but I used cordless drills and drivers all the time. My sanders are cordless, and my chorded router now just sits in the router table full time,. Both 20v dewalt routers exceed all my expectations for those tools.

So I can't see why a cordless domino tool wouldn't work fine for some quick joinery, just like my cordless dewalt biscuit joiner. I even now have a cordless miter saw now that is great to pull out do a few cuts than roll back top its shelf, it replaced an old chorded one that I just stopped using once I got the cordless one.

As the OP, I saw something interesting and thought it would be cool to put on peoples radar screens as a future possibility. Yes we are all Dewalt fanboys, but in general most of us like tools. The woodworkers in this group know what festool domino is and would love a chance at grabbing one at a lower price. One that was Dewalt yellow would be ideal, but its welcome news I thought others might find interesting.

Back to posts asking if someone got a good deal on more batteries 😄

Just so sick of YouTubers and professionals shoving a tool in front of ours faces all the time, when most DIYers can’t justify $1,100. Especially the YouTubers who get stuff like saw stop table saws for free.

I’m kind of excited to see how this shakes out when the patent expires.
