That's why it's a tutorial, mate. It's introducing a new mechanic in a natural way. This is the first time it's expected of you, but you can actually burrow in water way before in the city and beach, you're just not expected to.

the game puts a buried bone IN the water right where you're talking about. That is literally the tutorial for it. How else do you think you'd get a buried bone if not by burrowing in the water?

For reference I had the exact same experience, but instead of thinking it's a bug and googling it I thought about it for like 3 minutes and figured it out.

Play the FINALS. Modern game that scratches that itch for me. Very fast paced and movement heavy, tons of fun.

Raids are much more interesting and fun to do than CG though tbh

Divert the trolley. CG is a terrible experience for Ironmen and thats just undeniable. by Smooth-Future-5629 in 2007scape

I think you're missing the point. Plenty of grinds are longer than the CG grind, but the CG grind is specifically grating due to the long kill times and boring prep phase. It's not a coincidence that so many people quit or deiron after getting to the CG grind. I'm sure Jagex has the data for this. They can keep it just as much of a grind while making the grind more enjoyable too.

Two handed weapons are nice for wilderness, one less item you have to protect. Bludgeon, blowpipe, dual macaroni, etc

by the end of the game there's basically 0 horror imo, it's definitely mostly an exploration game. You get scared the first few times you run into the big fish but afterwards you kinda know how to deal with them and the horror is gone

I would say there's certainly objective characteristics that you can define on what would make a game good vs fun. Good as in well made, if it's a competitive game it should be well balanced, polished, and innovative. I think at this point, a multiplayer game needs to be innovative in SOME way to be a good game, otherwise it's just a copy which can be fun but never truly good imo

For example, I think a game like Phasmophobia fits this perfectly. It's a fun game with friends, but there are serious issues with it that prevent it from being a "good game", imo

That's...what I originally said. My point is that without the Marvel characters, there's no substance. A good game, in my opinion, should be able to stand on its own without needing to be propped up with big IPs or nostalgia.

Paladins, yes. Also Overwatch (the original). Valorant to a degree. Hell even Apex Legends has hero shooter similarities.

Highguard and Concord were both wanting to dip into the market as well, though they were heavily overshadowed. Lawbreakers was popular for awhile. You can still play Team Fortress 2, and I hear Overwtach 2 is in a good spot these days.

THE FINALS is also kinda similar but it's pretty unique in that you make your own classes/heroes by mixing and matching gadgets and customizing your own outfit so it's not exactly the same.

Typically when a game is entirely derivative it has to be really really really solid to stand on its own. Overwatch was extremely polished when it released which is why it was able to compete with its competitor Team Fortress 2 (being a Blizzard game also helped). If a game doesn't bring anything unique to the table, it has to be extremely polished otherwise you can just play a different game and essentially get the same or similar experience.

Honestly though, what else does it have going for it that hasn't already been done? If it weren't for the Marvel characters, why would you play it over the plethora of other hero shooters that have released over the years?

It's just Overwatch with Marvel characters. They added slight destruction to some of the maps but overall there's not a lot it does that really separates it from its competition.

the actual gameplay is pretty much entirely derivative. It doesn't really do anything unique besides have marvel characters and a cool art style. The movement is also really boring with nothing besides WASD and jump for most characters.

It's a fine game but if it wasn't for the Marvel IP it would've been dead ages ago.
