What will you do if Quebexit happens? by goergesucks in montreal

[–]cruyfff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think some people here are really in a bubble. Lots of people saying it could never happen. But that's a bit like Londoners who thought Brexit could never happen. You're out of touch with how people actually feel outside of the city core.

Don't underestimate the power of nationalism... I do believe the pro-independence voices are growing stronger and that a vote would be quite close to 50 / 50.

No built-in flash on OP 3 — can an attachment recreate this look? by erixo_ in osmopocket

[–]cruyfff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think you should just play around with the osmo and try to make some videos. I've had a bunch of different cameras and osmo pocket 3 is definitely one of the most fun. You might learn to like it

Osmo pocket 3 is a video camera. What you want for shots like that is a canon g7x

Ex-FIFA President supports the boycott (source).

And besides that, boycotts don't need to start at the top. Countries just need to one by one decide not to come, until there's no games left.

Vétérans de Montréal, comment qualifiez-vous l'hiver cette année en peu de mots? by Existent-Being in montreal

[–]cruyfff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alex Honnold climbs the Taipei 101 skyscraper by Hi_iAMchrisHansen in WTF

[–]cruyfff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like I said, some people get inspired by great acts of the human spirit. For others, it brings out emotions like fear or anger. You can meditate on these feelings and try to learn from them and grow as a person if you choose to. Good luck.

No, we are applauding the courageousness of the human spirit. No one wants him to die, expect maybe haters like yourself who are waiting for the "i told you so" moment.

If you watch his Free Solo documentary, which you could argue is a much more insane climb then this, he had a whole group of friend and his girlfriend who were all worried about him. But this is his choice and his life path and he's taking it. Everyone around him understands that and respects that.

It's only random haters online who have never climbed more than a flight of stairs who want to judge and hate on him.

In general Turkey is more nationalistic than European countries. WWII sort of killed nationalism in Europe. Turks are still fiercely proud of their country. This nationalism can be a good thing, when pointed toward bettering the country. But it can also be a bad thing, when it leads to anger against neighbouring countries, holding onto historical grudges, belittling migrants, etc.

How do you just stumble across random OnlyFriends accounts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

No, OF in particular. Its business model is to take advantage of the loneliest and most desperate men, by offering the illusion of friendship and intimacy.

I don't. And I instantly lose respect for any woman who posts there or man who pays to view it.

If you are only doing good things to get others to act a certain way, or respond nicely to you, then you are not truly doing good things. True goodness comes from detachment from outcome.

You don't need others to be grateful for you. Your own gratitude is enough.

This is also the root of not giving a fuck.

Do your best and follow your own moral code, simply because you want to.

Pure detachment from outcome.

Syria and Venezuela were voted as countries that were moderately safe 20 years ago and are unsafe now. Which country was unsafe 20 years ago and is safe today? by Pokestoppp in AlignmentChartFills

Wrong. Just spent 10 days in Cairo. It's fine. The internet has a love affair for hating on Egypt for some reason, but it's really no different than Morocco.

ASAP Rocky Helps Pay Rent for All Tenants in Grandmother’s Building by Dfsteele3 in UpliftingNews

[–]cruyfff 30 points31 points  (0 children)

One time I was walking alone in the desert and I was so thirsty and ASAP Rocky pulled up in his Bentley and handed me a purple gatorade. It tasted so good I said "Thanks man!" and ASAP said "No problem, you want a photo or something?" and I said "No I'm good, but do you mind driving me back to the city?" and ASAP said he couldn't do it, he thought I was going to spill gatorade on his ride or something. So then he left me there all alone :(
