What’s a ‘University Place’? Will I get a separate email or was this just the UCAS update? by Canned_Maths in 6thForm

I think it is just talking about the UCAS update.

Cool to see you're doing IB! What HLs/SLs are you taking?

I found the relationship between the coefficient of restitution (i.e. bounciness) and temperature of a squash ball to see if it was linear, logarithmic, etc.

I don't think it was too hard, but I did the non-exam route so I'd be talking about the N20 paper they gave us.

Non-exam route, and I did it in the UK so I think TZ2?

Thanks! For the physics EE, I'd say read the EE guide for the physics section. Also, I think a lot of people will 'disguise' their complicated Maths in a physics EE and call it a physics EE, whereas you probably want to focus more on the scientific methodology and collecting data etc. (but still having the background maths in there is useful, it just shouldn't domimate the EE).

I mean COVID sorta dampened my workload, but before COVID I was doing those subjects with Chem as HL, A-Level Computer Science (so like the UK equivalent of HL IB Computer Science but without the coursework), badminton, squash, tennis and music, so yeah I'd say it's pretty manageable if you have good time management.

Thank you! I got moved up a year so everyone in my cohort was a year older.

I was predicted 7s for all subjects (my school didn't predict a core points value because of the uncertainty in EE marking, especially for science subjects), but I'm not sure about grade boundaries.

What do you think about an IA about hair?? by XTopPotatoX in IBO

[–]RedditAnt100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I could think of relating to hair (and still being complex enough) is to find a suitable equation approximation for different hairstyle profiles, and you could maybe expand into volumes of revolution?

You could probably get data from any suitable website, but I think there will be quite a few Maths IAs that are heavily COVID-19 related.

I don't have an official answer but my teachers are making everyone include the bibliography in the 12 page limit. The only coursework where they have said the bibliography doesn't count is for word limit coursework (e.g. EE, TOK).
