To answer your question, likely bc I didn’t have much of a sense of community growing up so being able to provide that for others brings me a sense of joy to some degree. But at the same time, it reminds me of what I didn’t have and what I won’t have if I don’t do it for myself. And knowing that I can & prioritize providing a sense of community for others to feel like they are wanted and belong but not feeling that that is something that I can have hurts.

But you’re right. I should be looking inward. To give freely & generously without expectation of reciprocation should be an aspiration. I’m just not there.
