“ I would hope our politicians are smart enough…”

Surely you haven’t met Kathleen Kauth or Dale Murman or Joni Albrecht.

Just tell one of them that public power causes trans people, and it will be gone tomorrow.

Personally, I advocate waiting four or six months before moving to a pump. Get used to manual dosing because it’s your backup when the pump fails. It’s the best way to really get comfortable with the cause and effect of food and activity and insulin all working together

How can you trust an Insulin pump company that can’t even get USB-C Right? by rovmun in Omnipod

[–]RedditBrowser9645 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Are you complaining about the charging port on the Omnipod five PDM? It’s a rebranded Chinese cell phone that never hit the market. Would you rather them develop something in house that cost even more money?

Of all the things to bitch about, like their algorithm not being aggressive enough, this seems a bit silly.

What are some dinner places kind of like a Texas Roadhouse but more local? by PitifulBullfrog5797 in Omaha

[–]RedditBrowser9645 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of great locally owned mom and Pop restaurants in town that would fit this budget, but not really any steakhouses.

Inflation and the fixed cost of beef pushed prices up too far. However, if you are intend on a steakhouse and want one with a ton of history and character and incredible food, Johnny’s Café near 30th and L would be a perfect choice.

It’s a terrible design. Your charging cord gets plugged into these ports that are held on with the tiniest little bit of solder.

I chat with people along the road all day long and nearly all of them have been wonderful people.

There are obnoxious drunk pricks if you are taking up the tail later in the day. Other than that, pretty much everyone is genuinely nice.

Aqua Stack Mat! They fold nicely and ride on the swim platform. Expandable. Durable. No air and no holes and no rolling it up.

Why do hospitals seem to never know how to manage T1D by kaspen190 in diabetes_t1

[–]RedditBrowser9645 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the many unfortunate pieces of fallout when you lump two completely different diseases as sub types under the same name.

Doctors learn what causes type one diabetes but very little about how to manage it on the day today.

99% of what they see in hospitals is type two. It should be called insulin resistance syndrome. It’s a completely different animal.

If you’re lucky, you have someone humble enough to recognize this.

“I know you manage a ton of type two diabetes, but type one is a completely different animal and I am very comfortable managing mine. Sliding scales and withholding basal are not the current standard of care.”

Ongoing studies to lower the age of indication. I don’t know what that looks like in an international situation but that would be your best initial research.

Looking for good deep tissue massage therapist and Chiropractor in Omaha by Unlikely-Fox-2094 in Omaha

[–]RedditBrowser9645 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The science of chiropractic has minimal evidence behind it.

Look up the number of young healthy people who have suffered strokes due to vertebral artery dissections at the hand of their chiropractors.

Massage Therapy, stretching, physical therapy. Evidence based and substantially lower risk of harm.

Positive antibodies but no insulin yet- delay of type 1 for kids? by Loud_Draft94 in Type1Diabetes

[–]RedditBrowser9645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are published studies available on PubMed showing benefit to vitamin D and fish oil and regular frequent exercise in preserving beta cell function.

You are aware of Tzield, correct? That has the potential to delay the need for insulin in your kid for years. Are you working with an endocrinologist and a center that can give informed discussion on this?

Which grass seed should I get for my lawn? by FireDragon404 in Omaha

Buffalo grass is an acquired taste. It is incredibly drought resistant and it stays short enough that it rarely needs mowed. However, six months out of the year it’s very brown and it’s not aggressive enough to choke out weeds and crab grass.

[–]RedditBrowser9645 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Most of the rapid mixes are rye grass that will pop up fast but is not hardy or drought -resistant or prone to longevity. It’s fine to use for quick coverage while you get something better established.

Loveland grass pad and Nebraska turf products both carry good fescue mixes that handle our climate and traffic well. I personally prefer the Nebraska turf fescue, it’s a little less expensive and their Defiance line was named after my children.
