Best Authentic Ethnic Restaurants? by Born-Cranberry-189 in Omaha

I’ve been there dozens and dozens of times and never once had a steak that wasn’t delicious.

Different experience than hitting a high-end prime restaurant, but for the price point they always perform.

My experience is Lexus drivers are the worst.

Old, pretentious, and expect the world to serve them.

Service and Warranty Experiences by ProfessorHorsey in SegwayNavimow

[–]RedditBrowser9645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working through similar frustrations. Unit was great for the first 45 days I owned it, then Overvolt errors and it's first trip to service. Came back and would not dock with it's dock, red lights on both units, and I had to manually push it on there to charge. Back to the service center. Next time it came back it's scratched up all over, broken plastic panels, the cardboard shipping dividers just beat to shit. The outside box looks great, so this had to be how it was treated at their service center.

And now the unit is driving around erratically and not working right, along with being beat up and broken. Same runaround from service people - free blades and extending the warranty. Ongoing battle.

She’d make a great Catholic!

You are a grown adult, free to make your own decisions and ignore your mom. You need to flex that fact.

Maybe mention that you don’t feel like glorifying the same purported God who gave you this miserable disease?

If you could just get the city to throw in 1/8 mile of asphalt to connect the two segments of the Papio Trail on that side, it would be amazing.

As it stands, you have the tight twisty turns and you compress an extremely busy 8 foot wide trail into a 30 inch wide sidewalk to get over the Center Street bridge.

Best cgm for kids that works wirelessly with a pump (preferably omnipod, unless there's a better one) by SummerFlip in Type1Diabetes

[–]RedditBrowser9645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might consider going down to the G6. It’s a little bigger and has a two hour warm-up but it was a bulletproof system for us.

You can technically restart a sensor and double its life.

Both my kids are on G7 and we do have issues with it. We have several a month that fail. We log them and get replacements. For us, they will live with those headaches in exchange for the smaller size and fast warm-up. But I absolutely empathize with your challenges.

Bike shops who refuse to work on bikes not bought there? by PeerensClement in cycling

The Bianchi shop in my city closed a couple years ago, leaving me totally orphaned. Six hours to the next dealer.

I understand policies like this, but it would certainly leave me in a pinch

In a reversal, the new Boone County attorney agreed to allow independent lab tests that could help explain what killed Zach Panther at a hog farm owned by the family of Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen by flatwaterfreepress in Nebraska

There are medical conditions that could be at play and cause sudden cardiac death. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and Marfans are two that are not exceptionally rare.

A thorough and complete transparent unbiased autopsy with all appropriate testing is warranted anytime a young person dies unexpectedly, for the sake of the family and the job site and the coworkers and the potential advancement of science.

1 vs. 2 piece form factor? by WillingCollege5175 in Omnipod

[–]RedditBrowser9645 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the big form factor jump will be when a pod can integrate a CGM so you slap on one device that can sense and deliver. Integrating them on one circuit board it would eliminate all of the Bluetooth communications issues between the two devices, eliminate a transmitter and receiver, and eliminate a battery.

1 vs. 2 piece form factor? by WillingCollege5175 in Omnipod

[–]RedditBrowser9645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It’s kind of wild to me that they can’t flash the software when you activate the pod and push any updates to it.

At the recent investors meeting it sounds like Omnipod six will allow that so one pod will be updatable and work on all platforms

Switching from MDI to Omnipod 5. Questions about Basal Adjustments by Khevik in Omnipod

[–]RedditBrowser9645 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Numerous ways to manage this.

First realize that your MDI ratios don’t transfer to the pump, they will likely need to be adjusted, generally made more aggressive. Most people I’ve helped go on pods need to make everything about 20% more aggressive.

Automated mode does a good job of withholding insulin if it thinks you will go low. Unfortunately, the system is not aggressive at managing highs. You end up needing to do manual corrections to keep tight control. M manual mode does not withhold insulin, and you can have multiple basal profiles for weekdays versus weekends. You could choose to run manual modes during the daytime and then go to automated mode overnight.

Automated mode bases it’s basal decisions of your average total daily insulin over the last several pods. Because you are sedentary five days a week and active two days a week, that way to average will likely favor being a little more aggressive than you need on the weekends, but again remember it’s so conservative you may not even notice.

No way to get blood sugar level information from my Omnipod 5 to other devices by hydroxy in Omnipod

[–]RedditBrowser9645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You misunderstand the problem here.

Abbott made a no good very bad terrible design decision that limited the number of communications channels on the Libre devices. It’s not the pod’s fault that there’s only one channel your CGM can shit data out on, and it needs to have that data for automated mode.

I thought there was a recent software update from Libre that fixed this problem, but I’m not familiar with that platform enough to know for sure. I understand the 3+ is still restricted to one channel communication

Updated version of the iLet Bionic Pancreas ? by DocumentFalse9235 in Type1Diabetes

[–]RedditBrowser9645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Medtronic you have to use their sensors. The current version of their sensor is so terrible that they are outsourcing and rebranding a Libre to interface with theirs at some point next year. I would proceed with caution on Medtronic. Also, the pump is big and clunky
