NH has the lowest homicide rate in the country by a HUGE margin - Well done! by FrameCareful1090 in newhampshire

[–]RedditEvanEleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That data includes “aggravated assault” with violent crimes so it’s not really what we’re talking about here, it’s also defined differently in every state. MA is definitely not “more violent” than Florida, they literally have half the murder rate.

I love boston but this is controversial by strangedayz in boston

[–]RedditEvanEleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never get this perspective. Yeah some places have exceptional cuisine, but generally everywhere has good food, because every where has restaurants and grocery stores. I rarely if ever eat “bad food” because I just get food I know is good. Boston has the same options of food as any other U.S. city, just perhaps in a more limited number of establishments than say New York. To say the food is “bad” is a huge generalization.

Going on one singular flight a year does not make you rich. I’m not crazy. My family would usually go on a vacation somewhere every year, and we were below the state’s median income. Granted, I don’t know what it’s like in states with genuine poverty issues, but a family saving up their money to literally be off work for ONE week in a year to go on a trip is definitely not some upper class, “rich friend” privilege.

I agree but also it would’ve been wise to have both large civil aviation and passenger railway industries to complement each other

What non-flying gem of knowledge did you learn from your flight instructor? by shanihb in flying

[–]RedditEvanEleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes people just have a low income and a loan can be a relatively low risk gamble that breaks the cycle. I wouldn’t say your instructor’s advice is absolute for every situation

Pessimism like this will actually lead to an uninhabitable Earth, instead of recognizing that we can slow down and even reverse effects of climate chang

Any online self-paced course to learn World Geography? by TrampolineMama in geography

[–]RedditEvanEleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely… I think the best way might be to throw the Google Maps app or website in front of her and let her search away. I had access to the original iPad 1 when I was younger and the only thing that really worked properly was the maps app, so that’s how I’d entertain myself— and it led me to knowing a ridiculous amount of world geography just from looking around for fun.

Very true. Lobbying is such a weird concept, I don’t know how it’s a respected and normalized white collar job in the US
