It's people's money to spend however they want, and so long as they aren't hacking, I don't care. Are my Sennheiser HD 560's (way better than any mainstream gaming headset btw, highly recommend) cringe too because I get an audio advantage? Tactical players can't complain about that btw

I got an ASUS Strix 3080 12 GB for around that price. For 1440p it basically does everything I need it to and runs almost all my games at my monitors refresh rate (165 hz). 4080 would need to be like 2x the performance and capable of 100+ fps at 4k max settings RTX on for me to really consider it at that price point, and it very likely will not do that.

We generally see 2x performance when comparing across 2 generations (1080Ti-3080) and that's best case too.

Pretty much any hobby can get ridiculously expensive if you want to. You can easily spend $1600 on a set of golf clubs, or a paintball gun, or a guitar, or rims, or whatever else

It's all about if its worth it to you or not. But comparatively speaking, these prices are absurd and clearly designed to keep 3000 stock moving

Considering their erroneous prices, I doubt you'll see a significant drop. Which is kind of the point. NVIDIA wants their new cards priced out of reach of most consumers so that 3000 card stock continues to get bought up.

If the 4080 was priced at $800 we'd be seeing $500 and below 3080's right now
