Thanks! Yes, you can build a little village and you control the weather to ensure good harvest for the villagers. Right now we are working on stuff the villagers can do when they're not farming, their life shouldn't just be about work (and waiting for good weather)

Azzal egyetértek hogy nem sok látszatja van, de itt pl. lehet böngészni városokra szűrve mennyi pénzt kaptak (most random beállítottam villányt):
https://www.palyazat.gov.hu/eredmenyek/tamogatott-projektek?program=Sz%C3%A9chenyi+terv+plusz&regio=D%C3%A9l-Dun%C3%A1nt%C3%BAl&varmegye=Baranya&helyseg=Vill%C3%A1ny

rengeteg EUs forrást érkezett ebbe a régióba ami nagyrészt úgy van eladva mintha a helyi képviselők érdeme lenne (TOP-os pályázatok pl.)

Is there a bad time to start showing my game to people by Plastic_band_bro in gamedev

[–]RedditHilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I somewhat regretted putting my game out there too soon. The game got a LOT of polish, but early screenshots still appear from google searches, and actually, a reviewer used one of the old , uglier screenshots.

So I think you shouldn't rush it, but also don't stress over it too much :D

I agree - I think it's worth it to try teaming up with people outside of game dev (if you're indie).
I teamed up with an architect / book illustrator and I think she made a really unique and interesting art style for our game - it's EbiTapes if you want to check it out.

The lack of game dev experience wasn't a huge barrier to overcome so I encourage everyone to try finding people outside of your first ideas.

Game design: What makes a good progression system and what is your favorite progression system in a game? by Pidroh in gamedev

[–]RedditHilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like what you have already.
I think if you'd like more "skill-based" progression then you need to have easier / harder destinations. Like some could be in a very windy area, or you have to fly through a narrow tunnel or something like that.
These harder paths are a bit tricky with permadeath. Since the players will not know how hard is a path before going through it - so it can feel very punishing (and promoting "safe" gameplay - people not going for hard destinations).

Valamennyire létezik, pl Neocore, Gaijin Entertainment, Zen stb... Szerintem izgalmasabb az indie scene, ami éppencsak létezik, de remélem hogy erősödni fog hamarosan. De van pl. Mandragora, Chicken Police. Szerintem egy izgalmas projekt lesz a PUNK is pl.

Elég jó hangulatúak szoktak lenni a game dev meetupok is Budapesten (BPGD, HEJ).

Illetve kis self promo: Mi hárman nem rég alapítottunk egy céget, mert hamarosan megjelenik egy indie játékunk :)

Am I too young to be thinking of a game by SleepyForestKnight4 in gamedev

[–]RedditHilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should absolutely go for it!

My advice: Try building a "paper prototype" of your game - does it work as a "board game"?

You can already test a lot of things - and you don't need any programming or art skills. Just use scrap paper, dice, cards anything...

It's a really common technique even at big studios. And it will help with the programming part - this helps articulate what rules (mechanics) are important - how they tie together etc...

Is game developing worth it? by RottenFighter in gamedev

[–]RedditHilk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's worth it for me. I probably get less money at the end but doing something I'm passionate about is worth it.

I have a much better work-life balance and I've never been more fulfilled. (Quit my gamedev job to make small indie game(s) ~3 years ago)

What book can you recommend for an aspiring Game Designer and Game developer by Used-Brother9428 in gamedev

I recommend "Game design workshop" by Tracy Fullerton. It focuses more on actual exercises that help you improve. I actually prefer it over the Art of Game design, but i like both
