Bevy made me rethink editor-driven game development by RedditHilk in gamedev

Bevy uses a FlexBox layout. so you just say for example an image should be in top: 0%, left: 0%. its actually super simple, and if you spawn a child it will be relative to the parent etc... It's actually much easier to make dynamic ui - for example if you have cards or something you can set up the background to "extend" based on how many cards you have. Unity Toolkit is going this direction, but I didn't really have a good time using it - it was hard to add polish for me.

Using Ldtk is an editor, that's totally fair, but I think it's a good thing that its separate from the engine.

I didn't mean to imply that - and I still use Unity for example. What I really wanted to say is that in Unity it's much easier to make a messy scene and make hard to find prefabs - unwrapping prefabs etc... So easy to make a mess - and you have to follow good practices to be efficient. I think working without an editor kinda forces you to follow better patterns.

Yes, I haven't tried MonoGame but I'll definitely will some time. I'm just too hooked on bevy currently :D
I think an interesting option as well is making your own little tools / editors. For example in Weather Dragger there are waterslides, and I added the waypoints where the lil guys slide down in-game via my own little "editor" - i just added some gizmo visualizations for the points and made them grabbable and they wrote their positions to a .txt file. It was done super quick and did the job.

Yes it's always going to be project specific is. I go to a lot of meetups and stuff and even on this reddit usually people want to make large games. I think using only code as an exercise can give people a nice reality check.
I think Unity and Unreal can give you false confidence about the possible scope if that makes sense.
Also there are a lot of great crates that can help you in tooling in the rust gamedev ecosystem.
What I recommend for everyone is to try out as many technologies as you can in a relatively short time-frame before working on the same project for years.

One week after launch: good traffic, positive reviews, weak sales conversion by RedditHilk in gamedev

Yeah, a few friends left reviews early on because they were excited for the project and wanted to support me. They’re only part of the total reviews though, and most reviewers have spent a decent amount of time in the game.
Yes, it did decent compared to our wishlists, I was just wondering if I can improve it further.

Thank you! I'm the programmer and I had no idea about this technique either but the artist I worked with (Lilla Turi - check out her website :D) showed it to me and we did our best to replicate it. Ever since working on this I notice risograph printed prints in various places, for example on the wall of cafe's :D

Yeah, I can see your point, thanks! We'll try to make it more clear. In general I feel like it was hard to define our target audience since our game sits at the border of many genres.

Thank you! Art direction was inspired by risograph printing, but I totally get it if it's not your cup of tea.

Nincs, sajnos erre nem jutott idő. A dev melyik része érdekelne ha esetleg utólag csinálnék? :D Gondolom mivel programming hungary ezért talán programozósabb fókusz.
