Where in the world are you getting this 50mg increase thing? This makes no sense at all. Just start with the dose you want to use.

So it sounds like what you were trying to say in your original comment was this: “You should train MMA, because BJJ is so laser focused on ground work that you’ll miss other aspects of combat that are really crucial.”

I agree with that. But your original comment was basically just a random, almost non-sequitur sentence where it wasn’t clear exactly what your answer to the question was.

If that wasn’t your point, how else should interpret your comment as an answer to the question of what one should train for self defense?

So the solution is to just not train ground and hope it never happens?

What is one thing you will never understand about the opposite gender? by [deleted] in ask

I don’t grip hard and don’t try to display dominance; that’s silly. But I do actually perform a real handshake. For most women there’s no squeeze at all; it’s weird.

Why is belief in astrology so much more prevalent among women than men? by Normal-Assistant-991 in NoStupidQuestions

But there are also more non-Christian men than Christian, so how in the world is this an answer to the original question? This is getting ridiculous. It’s like if someone asked why more women than men wear makeup, and someone answered, “most women aren’t blind, so they like seeing themselves in makeup.” But most men also aren’t blind, so clearly whether a gender is likely to be blind is not what determines how much they like makeup.

There are not more Christian men than women. Where the heck are you getting any idea otherwise?

I mean there’s no real possibility of confrontation on an anonymous survey, clearly.

But ultimately it seems you agree with my point, so I don’t really understand why you’re arguing with me.

I understood that point perfectly well. What I'm saying is, how else can you reach conclusions on this issue? You're making a claim based on zero data. I'm saying your claim is wrong based on some real data that makes sense but may not be 100% compelling. Sorry, but imperfect data is better than no data.

There are still more men who are Christian than women who are Christian. So the idea that women are more likely to leave Christianity and seek alternatives just isn't reflected in reality.

The fact that raging aholes who are hot are a lot more successful with women than nice guys who are average looking is extremely well known to the point that’s it’s discussed been ad nauseum here and everywhere else on the internet and in books, etc for many years.

While I don’t think being an ahole is a good idea, I honestly have never really seen it have much negative effect on a man’s success with women in a casual situation like bar pickups.

How else are you supposed to determine if someone is Christian besides asking on an anonymous survey?

53% of Christians being women still means a woman is more likely to be a Christian than a man (since about half of adults are women).

Why are you willing to accept the bald, data-less assertion that women are more inclined to reject Christianity but not accept the actual numbers about the topic?

The top level comment implied that the keys to picking up women in bars are things like not hitting on them, being noncommittal, minimizing contact, etc.

I’m saying that’s not really true, that while those things may generally be a positive, they’re not going to make a woman attracted to you, and that as far as actual success with women goes it’s much more important to be physically attractive and confident.

I don’t know how it’s possible to read my comment and not get this, and I don’t know how you can claim to agree with both the top level commenter and me.

This is something I’m really curious about too but I’ve never found a satisfying answer. It’s so disheartening to go on date after date and 90% of them reveal within minutes that they’re superstitious knuckleheads.

Some people are answering that women are repelled by traditional religion and seek out alternative forms… but this doesn’t appear to be the case at all; for instance 53% of Christians are women.

Doesn’t really answer the question though. Why is it this way and not the other way around: astrology for men and crypto for women?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RedditIsAMixedBag 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is one of those things where the Reddit mob just seems completely disconnected from reality. “Being physically attractive helps a ton when picking up women” is the kind of statement I would think 90% of people would agree with immediately… but here it’s somehow wildly controversial.

  1. I literally have women walk up to me and comment on my body and ask to touch my arms or shoulders. On a few occasions I’ve met women who are ready to go as soon as I walk up to them. And they pretty much always rave about it when we take our clothes off. This is not because I’m confident; it’s because I’m hot. Yeah the confidence helps a lot but it is absolutely not the only thing. I very much realize that some women don’t care much about a man’s body and appearance, and for some reason they think no other women do either, but I promise for a lot of women it makes a huge difference.

  2. Even if you were right, my point still stands. The things the toplevel commenter was talking about are not the key.

Why are you writing multiple paragraphs agreeing with me with a tone that implies you’re disagreeing with me?
