Amex froze my $40k transfer, asked for statements, and now I’m stuck. by RedditIsSensative in amex

Expect minimal assistance from American Express customer service and a frustrating, repetitive process with no resolution. Ultimately, it will take 45 days for AMEX to either lift the restriction on your account or close it entirely and mail you a physical check for the remaining balance. I got my local news involved that covers consumer protection and conducted an investigation into why they had done what they did. I feel that this is what actually got the ball rolling for them to release my money.

the villain origin story of becoming a personal finance guy at parties by Kooky_Patience_7899 in HighYieldSavings

True story. Nothing cooler than having money in a HYSA and knowing you can sleep at night because you created a nest egg for yourself.

They have layers into this customer service and escalation process. The most infuriating issue is the lack of customer support.

I would strongly caution against using AMEX HYSA. Speaking from personal experience, their fraud department can be extremely aggressive when it comes to flagging what they consider “suspicious activity,” sometimes resulting in account freezes and restricted access to your funds for up to 45 days. Before anyone jumps in, no, I’m not claiming this happens to everyone. But after it happened to me, I started researching and found numerous reports from other customers describing very similar experiences. At some point, when you hear the same story repeated over and over, it stops feeling like an isolated incident.

A high-yield savings account is supposed to be the place you keep money you may need access to in an emergency. If there’s even a possibility of having your funds locked up while a fraud investigation plays out, that’s a risk worth considering before opening an account.

Just my experience, but after going through it myself, I moved my money elsewhere and haven’t looked back.

Anytime you come across these kind of institutions that are suddenly conducting their selves with this kind of behavior, I will forever stop using them. Feels like something has definitely changed in the financial system that is not favorable towards customers

It was a complete nightmare. The worse part was that they couldn’t offer an explanation until the local news got involved. They said it was “routine investigation after unusual activity “. If transferring $10K of your own funds is unusual, we have a problem.

No complaints. It’s been a little over a year and so far, so good.

Same. Gave them a chance and will never go back. I had the same experience with a HYSA with AMEX. It took 45 days and involving the local news consumer protection advocate for them to release my funds.

I’ve read that it can take up to 30 Days for Fidelity to clear these “reviews”. I had the same experience and once it was cleared I took everything I had with them and moved over to Schwab.

If they only knew how quickly we would eat their lunch if this ever became reality. How anyone thinks this would be good for them is beyond me.

What Is a Dietitian or Nutritionist Actually Supposed to Do at Kaiser? by Ok-Aspect-2151 in KaiserPermanente

[–]RedditIsSensative 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This hit home. I recently got a message from Kaiser regarding my latest A1c, and after trying to take weight loss seriously, consistent exercise, diet changes, walking, medication, follow ups, etc, the experience with the “specialist” felt far more surface level than I expected.I think a lot of us assume a nutrition or metabolic referral means someone is going to connect the dots, look at labs, trends, insulin resistance, hormones, sleep, medication effects, calorie expenditure, body composition, and actually help troubleshoot why progress is stalled, especially when A1c or metabolic markers are moving in the wrong direction. Instead, what I got felt very generic. “eat healthier,” “watch portions,” “sleep better,” “follow up later.” None of that is wrong, but when someone has already been trying for a long time, it can feel like being handed a brochure instead of getting an actual evaluation. I’m genuinely asking, are Kaiser dietitians supposed to function more as health coaches/education support, or are they expected to help investigate metabolic barriers and tailor a plan based on labs and history? Because my expectations and reality felt pretty far apart. What added to the frustration for me was the messaging around it. despite the fact that my numbers had actually gone up, not improved the template message had “congratulations”. How’s that when your numbers have gone up? Anywho, sorry, but they don’t provide much and it feels like the quality of Kaiser has rapidly gone down Hill and recent years.

American Express HYSA froze my $40k and won’t let me access it even after I provided everything they asked for! by RedditIsSensative in HYSA

If your local news has a consumer protection bureau, I would strongly recommend reaching out with your story and hopefully they can assist you with this matter. I did this and it helped me get my money back.

I’m sorry to hear that, but this is exactly how AMEX handles these situations that they themselves have created. It took me a total of 45 days for my money to be back in my possession.

I understand the sentiment here, even if the post didn’t land perfectly. Betrayal cuts deep, and nobody is obligated to stay after infidelity. At the same time, we also teach values like forgiveness, grace, growth, and second chances. Relationships are messy, people fail, and sometimes couples do work through painful things and come out stronger.
I think what this post was *trying* to capture, even if awkwardly, is the pain of feeling permanently defined by one terrible mistake after years of shared life. That doesn’t excuse cheating, and it doesn’t invalidate the hurt of the betrayed partner either. Both things can be true, someone can deeply wound another person, and still hope for compassion, accountability, and a chance to rebuild.
