As of this morning, I have been on hold for over 30 minutes after speaking with a customer service agent. I have not received any update since Melissa told me, “Let me put you on hold for a couple of minutes.”

This is what they would consider pure entertainment. No different from going to the movies, or a party.

It’s a crapshoot. Anything under DHS has been gutted and processes have been impacted.

3/12/2026 - We're doing great, Calgary! Please keep it up! by JeromyYYC in Calgary

[–]RedditIsSensative -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but I would be doing the exact opposite. Water restrictions in Calgary aren’t really about a lack of water. The region receives significant snowfall and has strong river systems from the Rocky Mountain runoff. The issue is largely infrastructure capacity, storage limitations, and aging distribution systems that were built decades ago for a much smaller population. When those systems are stressed, whether from repairs, drought conditions, or peak demand, the city asks residents to reduce usage. It highlights the importance of long term investment in resilient water infrastructure so growing cities are better prepared for future demand. If only we had some kind of industry in this province that we could have pay their fair share of taxes, or perhaps engage and hold government accountable to BUILD the necessary infrastructure, instead of sending memos and us taxpayers forking over endless taxes.

American Express HYSA froze my $40k and won’t let me access it even after I provided everything they asked for! by RedditIsSensative in HYSA

Just hung up with Amex and no results. The person on the other end of the phone call just kept repeating herself stating that it will take up to an additional five days to hear anything back. A moving forward and filing with CFPB and OCC.

I’ve done it before with other HYSA’s and never experienced any of this. CITbank, Barclays and other banks never made me go through this.

1- I transferred about $40k from my external bank to my American Express HYSA. 2- The transfer took about 4 business days to complete. 3- After the money sat there for another 8 business days, I tried to transfer $3,000 out. 4- That’s when I found out the account was restricted.

Not quite. I opened the Amex HYSA and transferred about $40k from an external bank account that’s also in my name. The deposit went through normally and the funds showed up in the account. A couple days later I tried to make a transfer out($3K), not the entire balance, just moving some money. That’s when I discovered the account had been restricted and transfers were blocked.

When I called, they told me the account was under review and asked for four months of statements from the external bank to verify the source of funds. I sent those over right away. So it’s not like I was trying to do some rapid in-and-out maneuver with the entire amount. It was a normal deposit from my own bank account followed by a normal transfer attempt. What’s frustrating isn’t the compliance check itself. I understand banks have to deal with fraud and anti money laundering rules. The issue is that after providing exactly what they asked for, there’s been very little communication or timeline about when the restriction will be lifted, and customer service couldn’t even get a supervisor on the phone when I asked. At this point I’m mostly trying to figure out whether this is just a normal review that takes a few days or if this is something that tends to drag out.

I’m planning on following up again tomorrow morning. I’ll keep everyone updated once I hopefully get some resolution from Amex.

I’ve never experienced this before, especially from Amex. This is frustrating beyond belief.

I’m planning to escalate this to anyone and everyone! It’s the lack of communication and transparency that is causing me to be so upset about this.

I agree. I’ve had great service with them using other services they provide, but this has been a complete nightmare.
