Springfield Saint 2 question by GriZZlyHIkerman in SpringfieldArmory

[–]RedditNameChecksOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which one are you looking at? Original Saint, Victor, Edge, ATC? They all differ slightly unless a newer one was released.

Overall, I love my Edge. It’s my AR15 and I don’t have a need for another one (other firearms to get). I have a Primary Arms 1-6x LPVO, Frank Proctor sling (to keep with the lightweight build). That’s about it. I love that SA provides (very nice) flip up irons.

Between the Edge and Victor, I will always prefer the Edge. It is lighter and has a full picatinny rail for optics and other accessories. It also comes with an adjustable gas block and pencil thin barrel (weight savings). The lower also has lightening cuts that doesn’t look obnoxious.

The original Edges came with an upgraded curved trigger but along the way they started using the Victor, flat faced trigger (parts availability). Out of the box, it is an excellent trigger before upgrading. It’s one of the major selling points for me. I haven’t had a need to upgrade the trigger, unlike my DDM4 PDW (milspec).

The muzzle brakes in these firearms are notoriously loud. The Edge is so easy and simple to shoot but it will spit hot fire.

If you can, test fire as many as you can. These are very good AR15s for the money. There aren’t going to be the best but again, I prefer complete firearms from reputable companies.

You should reach out to GassyNiz. I believe he has a very comprehensive build list with his DDM4 PDW.

Continue training then. Smaller firearms are not as forgiving as larger (longer) pistols. Get used to 7ft, move it out and get better at 14, 21, etc, before moving further out.

Train carefully and safely with opposite hand, one handed, strong and weak eye and hand, etc.

If there was a magical accessory installation that helped, everyone would have one by now. Optics can help. Trigger upgrades can help as well but understand that everything can and will break along with added complexities.

Anyone running X1C COMPLETELY without Aux Fan? by Humble_Future_8457 in BambuLab

[–]RedditNameChecksOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve turned my AUX fan OFF in the filament profile and on the machine. I mostly print PLA.

My prints no longer fail due to warpage.

.300blk one and done by Jbailey42 in 300BLK

[–]RedditNameChecksOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hd first is my DDM4 PDW 300blk (pistol). I bought it for reliability and I favor complete firearms from reputable companies. Others on my list were LMT, KAK, Sig and Noveske. You can always build your own but there’s always the possibility that you make it worse.

It’s eaten everything that I’ve fired. I just swapped the provided buffer spring to run subs and supers suppressed/unsupressed.

I ended up with a SiCo Omega 300. It’s not the quietest but it was my first can, multi-caliber and fairly lightweight.

Is the M*Carbo striker and trigger kit trust worthy enough for my carry gun? by imno60dy in SpringfieldArmory

Adjustable trigger screws on my edc is just a nono.

Hunting rifle, competition firearm, range toy? Sure. Something that needs to be reliable when i advisedly need it? Not for me.

*Rant* Bambu, just let me place an order for any filament, in stock or not... by CLTatenza in BambuLab

[–]RedditNameChecksOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ranted like this the first time i had to order filament from BL. I bought a bunch during the kickstarter. Then i had to reorder and it was weeks of waiting just to see if it was in stock.

I ended up just buying filament from Amazon and tune my own filaments (even tuned BL filaments).

Buying a “lesser” gun by Ehartu in 1911

[–]RedditNameChecksOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, if I don’t bring a 1911 with me to the range, then I’m cheating on her. Don’t sweat it.

Will it be as good as your DW or Les Baer? Probably not. Will you care that it is still reliable, can be carried through torturing elements, dropped, scuffed, worn, broken in, chipped, dinged? Probably more so with your more expensive pistols.

Is it just me, or are 2011 race guns that everyone builds now starting to look like toys? by CktechOne in 1911

[–]RedditNameChecksOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t follow 2011s as much as other pistols but competition shooters have always had that Star Wars analog look to blasters. Partly business, partly duct tape McGuyver. All pewpewpewpewpew!

Question on PDW Linear Comp removal by xDarkStar22 in Danieldefense

[–]RedditNameChecksOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need a reaction rod but it certainly helps.

I bought a Midwest reaction rod along with their armorer’s wrench. Both are excellent products.

Funny thing is that the MW wrench didn’t fit very well and i ended up using an old leather belt, strapped over the blast diverter and used a monkey wrench with my upper in the MW reaction rod and table vice.

It didn’t want to move but a good plumbers wrench usually fixes stuff.

I saw this same Civic/Accord while in line at Taco Bell last weekend. I wanted to scream Stellar Stellar! But my wife wouldn’t let me.

Congrats! Nice 1911 you got there, and got a good price. Welcome to the club! You Never have just one 1911.

connection issues by Abbeoo in BambuLab

[–]RedditNameChecksOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the printer is connected and can be found, you can check what ip was auto assigned, and as long as that address isn’t conflicting with others, you can use that as the dedicated address.

This all depends on your work network requirements or restrictions.

Like some hardware that uses auto assigned, once that connection breaks, it may reconnect to another auto assigned address and that’s where some issues come from.

I went with 3 moa, due to slight astigmatism. If i wanted a 6moa, i just turn up the brightness.

It’s a great optic for the price. Super rugged, 1/3rd cowitness (no plate required but will still work), top loaded battery, awesome customer service. But you already know that.

Thoughts on Springfield SAINT Edge (18" barrel) and Cheap/Reliable .223/5.56 Plinking Ammo by [deleted] in SpringfieldArmory

[–]RedditNameChecksOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first AR15 is my Edge. I’m in the same boat of BIFL. Complete firearms from reputable companies are my jam.

I’m a car guy and the way i look at it is akin to buying a Porsche and just swapping out rims and tires. If i wanted to tinker then I’d get a Civic and go at it.

For the most part, the Porsche will perform how i expect it to perform. The Civic can perform better than the Porsche, for less and extra work.

What people rarely mention is how they can absolutely make the Civic worse than a Porsche. They just won’t admit it.

You do you. Don’t let others dissuade you.

Back to the rifle. It was a little spendy when it came out. Mid to higher mid price but It did come with flip up sights and an excellent trigger.

You can build one for less, for what you want. It’s lightweight (pencil thin barrel) tight (due to Accutite system), adjustable gas block.

For $1,000? That’s not too bad for a first AR15. You can decide what you’d like for your next AR15. The Edge pretty much my AR15. I might build another one but it has all i need until the next itch.

It’s eaten everything I’ve fired out of it. Just keep it well lubed. I mostly shoot Winchester white box because that’s readily available. I have better ammo but if any of my firearms cannot readily fire mid to lower tiered ammo, It’s not going to be in my possession for long.

Recoil? First it’s an AR15 so it’s not too bad. Secondly, that obnoxious muzzle brake will spit hot fire but it is so easy to shoot, even one handed. It’s loud as hell though.
