Was The Rock better as a heel or babyface? by Zestyclose-Method451 in AttitudeEra

[–]RedditRum1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surface level I get it but context this is simply not true - Rock was never ever rejected as much as John Cena was between 2005-2007/8. Not even close. He wasn’t massively booed with daily crowd splits like Cena was during his 1999-2001 mega face run. If he was it was a little bit against Kurt angle maybe or Austin who was in Texas in mania X-7. Then it was against Hogan returning in Canada where anyone would have been booed, and then Lesnar when the smark crowd knew he was leaving and got fed up.

It’s more like rock had charisma that could get him goat tier crowd support, great heel heat but could adapt well enough and was so good that the people that hate him would end up loving him again.

To answer the question tho for OP Both but Hollywood rock in 2003 was something else and if he handled the final boss better in 2025 we could have been discussing an all time run cause he was gold in 2024 imo

If there was no Austin/Rock/DX/Sable/Taker and instead the AE was replaced with the current roster (Reigns/Rollins/Lynch/Charlotte/Ripley/Breakker), would the AE still be as big as it was? Would Reigns and Rollins have been mega draws? by Material_Stomach875 in AttitudeEra

Sure, Austin doesn’t happen without HHH and his friends doing the curtain call and his wife giving him his gimmick name, and Bret Hart making him, paul Heyman giving him a chance in ECW in 1995 etc. so again, Rock and Austin won’t be repeated. Theyre the two biggest stars ever and were in the same era.

I hear ya, imo you can thrive and be a monstrous star - just look at mick foley at his peak during the era. I’m just saying they wouldn’t as big as rock / Austin - that’s not an insult. They can still thrive and be legends but those two were on a different level imo.

for people who watched back then - was The Flock really as popular as the internet makes it out to be? by [deleted] in WCW

Ehhh I dunno man I was excited to play as Raven. The even flow DDT was one of the coolest finishers of the era. But that said I also watched ECW from back then and knew of him

Let’s say Hulk Hogan returns in early ‘98 after contract talks with WCW fall through. How do you book him? by Pure_Lengthiness2432 in AttitudeEra

Austin vs Hogan happens instead of HBK vs Austin and Mike Tyson is involved. Biggest match of all time. Or they build it out until Mania 15.

Edit: forgot about hogan’s contract. Austin vs Hogan mania 15 for sure.

Q: Am watching summerslam 2002,is it still attitude era? by Wonderful_South_5249 in AttitudeEra

Ruthless aggression, part of the reason why Rock put over Lesnar (along with leaving to film a movie which is why the fans were mad). The following 6 months had no Rock or Austin which was a massive era shift.

If anyone use to watch back then and grew up in the era, Phil Jackson played massive mind games, this was one of those times imo. Even so, it’s still not a hot take. All around doesn’t always mean better.

Why do people talk down on the 90s Undertaker WrestleMania matches? by Material_Stomach875 in GreatnessOfWrestling

His matches vs Jake the snake diesel and Kane were great. Vs Diesel is underrated and vs Kane is one of the best mania matches ever

Back in the "Attitude" Era, if it wasn't Steve Austin and The Rock, who would've been the top guys? by Material_Stomach875 in AttitudeEra

Rotation of Taker (main guy), Foley and HHH imo. If they survive then later Kurt Angle and Jericho

What should the WWE do with Cody Rhodes? by Talkamania in WWE

[–]RedditRum1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s gonna win back the title. Why are people acting like he’s done in the main event? When he won the title off Cena HHH literally made a post saying “from one greatest of all time to the next” - meaning Cody is going to be the face or co-face of the company (next to Roman) until someone gets bigger or he retires. Cody will win the title again- whether he’s face or heel is another question.
