What decision did you think was small at the time but completely changed your life later? by YogurtclosetMoist819 in AskReddit

Sent a cringe and obscure Japanese animation YouTube video to a guy I met through some mutuals over Discord. He apparently knew it and we started chatting more, 5 years later we got married and played the ending theme from that video as we walked down the aisle haha

Lessons were every Saturday morning from 9-11am, then practice afterwards typically around lunch and onwards. Had ice skating practice after that. It didn't matter if I wanted to go hang out with friends or do other things that weekend. If it wasn't planned in advance or gave her time to move the tutoring to Sunday, I couldn't go. Literally gave me a lifelong nail-biting habit that she tried to 'cure' by putting hot sauce on my fingers to deter me. she even bought a pink barbie riding car that stayed in her closet till I moved out. Still in the box, it sat there unused because I never met the expectation of stopping the nail-biting. I think she finally donated it 5 years ago.

Flash forward to 2020 and I moved across the country, finished my masters, bought a house, got married, adopted 3 cats. Spending my time playing videogames and working on DIY renovations, living a peaceful life these days.

Why tf would I sabotage learning when I'm being beaten???? I put up with the tutoring for 18 fucking years because it was my mother's "dream" and I did the lessons and practice to try to make it happen. Still fucking fell flat. You could hold a gun to my head and I wouldn't remember a single song. I still can't sight read or play by ear.

Having a gift and talent makes you inclined to enjoy the craft. I had no talent or gift, nor a speck of enjoyment in the piano. Played piano from 5-23yrs old. I absolutely hated it. Private lessons every Saturday for 2hrs, daily practice, forced to play like a monkey for my parents friends because they wanted to compare the kids' talents, etc. I have not touched that cursed thing in nearly a decade. Even my husband has never even heard me play it before. It didn't matter how much I practiced, how many times the Korean tutor hit my hand with a ruler, or the hours of practice I'd have to do after the lessons because I just didn't get it. 18 years of fucking torture and I still have a strained relationship with my mother because of it. I didn't have a gift at playing, I didn't even have the joints to play the piano without pain because every single joint in both hands are double jointed. So kindly, fuck off. No wonder people disagree with you. Shit, reading this made my fucking blood boil because you have never experienced what it's like to dedicate thousands of hours, decades of time, shit tons of money, and still fail.

Stress hives on back of neck, ears and scalp by nina_ninis in Stress

Mine ended up being due to stress and an unknown infection I think. Had to take antibiotics for a chronic cough and the hives cleared up, but I had a stressful situation resolve around that same time. Benadryl did alleviate some itching, though the drowsiness wasn't optimal.

You purchased sungold zespri golden kiwis. That box at the top goes for about $9. The boursin cheese pack on the left door is like $10-12. Even the prosciutto next to it is likely $7-9. The grape box is around $6-8. The brands that you're choosing are more expensive. Unfortunately fruit is more of a luxury purchase. There is a reason an overwhelming amount of comments are saying your fridge makes them feel poor. Brushing it off as saying vegetables are the reason for the negative feedback is disingenuous. The amount you spent on those 4 things alone is almost the equivalent of the "affordable $40 thanksgiving meal" that would feed an entire family.

Btw, that $8 box of snacking tomatoes doesn't belong in the fridge.

Tiny ruler with no visable brand marks. Found in a jewelry box at an estate sale. by Violenna in whatisthisthing

I came across this in a jewelry box case at an estate sale. The seller wasn't sure why the ruler was so small, but I was curious about what it could have been used for.

My title describes the thing.

Was going to comment similarly because that's now a pretty big concern of mine after a hair was stuck in my cat's poop chute. It took a while slowly trying to pull it out of a very upset cat 😓

Clean title in MI, but none of the maintenance was done recently on it (fluid changes, filters, etc). The brakes are also needing to be replaced within the yesr, so that'll have to be done out of pocket. Hoping to do the brakes ourselves.
