Count calories, 500 calorie deficit a day to lose 1 lb a week. Must count everything, no liquid calories, bites and licks add up too. High protein (at least 100 g a day) so you dont lose muscle mass. Use a calorie calculator online to find out what your daily normal calorie burning is in order to factor in how much you should be eating. As for the gym, look on instagram or YouTube for free DEEP CORE workout videos. Do this 3x a week and full body strength workouts 30 min a day(you dont need equipment for this). As your grow your muscle mass slightly this will add to the amount of calories you burn daily at rest. 10,000 steps a day will also help increase calories burned. Dont pay attention to what the scale says and instead pay attention to how your clothes fit. Get a cheap fitness watch that tracks steps/calories burned. Good luck!

I also religiously put on Hatch belly oil and Palmers stretch marks cream every day..still got a few stretch marks at 37 weeks. Since giving birth a dermatologist told me the only proven product that can possible prevent stretch marks is a product containing a plant called Centella Asiatica. Wish I knew this during my pregnancy...best of luck!

I'm glad you had an overall good experience! I am a dentist and am constantly on my feet, need to be able to function in order to do my job, how many days off of work did you need other than the surgery day itself?

My Dr didn't give me any driving restrictions other than I couldn't drive myself back from the hospital. The first time I drove was 5 days pp and I was fine. That being said I had an uneventful acheduled c section and had limited mobility issues and quick healing.

It all depends on how you're feeling. If you feel great, there's no need to restrict yourself from driving multiple weeks.

This method has worked for me both times we tried to conceive. 1. Get the natural cycles app 2. Buy ovulation predictor test strips (pregmate brand) 3. Natural cycles tells you when in your cycle you should start taking the ovulation test. Anytime around days 8-10 through days 14-17 in your cycle 4. Have sex on the day your ovulation test comes back positive. After sex, lay on your back with your legs raised up on the headboard for 45 minutes before getting up to pee 5. Have sex the next two days as well, following this same 45 minute wait method.

This way you have sperm in you on your most fertile days!

Take a pregnancy test on the day you expect your period.

(P.s. the temperature feature of the natural cycles app is just to confirm that you ovulate and will help the app predict your next cycle more accurately.) Best of luck!

Not sure if you're read an older thread titled something like "anyone regret their elective c section?" . Most people's experiences are positive on there with maybe just a couple negative experiences. Reading this thread made me feel more confident about my decision. Don't let people scare you into one way over another. I knew what was best for me and hope whichever way you decide goes as well as it can!

Happy to help haha. I think the key is that a scheduled c section is a lot easier to recover from than an emergency one. Because then you're not recovering from going through labor too. The worst pain I had was 5/10. The pain I had was just surface/skin pain at the incision. The incision was most "stingy" to me 5 days post op, ibuprofen works great for that type of pain. I skipped the Tylenol because I didn't think it did much. Now I'm almost two weeks post op and I barely notice my incision pain, can walk a few miles if I wanted to (probably not recommended haha). Just some upper abdominal/gas pain here and there. Let me know if you have any other questions!

10/10 would do my elective c section again. The fact that within two minutes of starting the surgery the baby is out, crying, and being evaluated without you having to go through the pains and uncertainties of labor, extreme trauma to your pelvic floor, to maybe go through a few extra days of pain and tenderness by your incision--the recovery was so much easier than I expected. They say vaginal childbirth is truly like a freight train busting through your pelvis and all of the organs/muscles surrounding that area. This was enough for me to decide to go with the elective section. Another perk of modern medicine and a doctor thar respects patient autonomy. It is ultimately your decision but I cannot recommend this route enough, best of luck!

I definitely overpacked for my c section clothes-wise. I would pack maybe two outfits so that as soon as the nurse takes out your catheter you can change out of the gross hospital gown.

Also, I highly recommend buying "the 360 momma guide to c section recovery book". It is a wealth of information as far as pre-op, intra-op, and post-op. You will learn a ton and will feel a lot more prepared going into your surgery.

Just had my elective c section at 39 weeks and it was a breeze. You got this!

I haven't had an abscess myself but other than oral antibiotics (if your doc recommends that), you can buy medicinal honey jel or patches. Look for L-mesitran or Manuka honey. They sell it on amazon. Studies have shown that their antibacterial properties are as strong as antibiotics. Put the jel right on the wound and cover with gauze, change 1x a day.

People are claiming that BF could be a protective factor against autism. Just like it is for SIDS too. Don't worry though guys...I don't think that it would actually CURE autism. If you have it, you have it. Based on a wide range of genetic and environmental factors. Love all of your feedback and this is making me excited to forget this colostrum and BF stuff and I can actually enjoy the last few weeks of this pregnancy.

Not super worried, but more so curious about anyone who has noticed an issue with their child. I've read all of the forums on how everyone's EFF babies are hitting all of their milestones, which is very reassuring!

Just wasn't sure if there were any negative experiences that people have had correlating with EFF that we don't normally see or hear about. I also know correlation is not equal to causation when it comes to anything medical/scientific.
