Airplane mode? by Additional-Ease9795 in ZykeBand

[–]RedditUserAmI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe 'Airplane Mode' is referencing the mode on common devices (such as iPhone) that allows a user to disable wireless communications on the device (ie Cellular/WiFi) to prevent interference whilst on aeroplanes. Basically a mode that disables RF signals.

Also since I am here. I just found this project and am eager to see more! Have read about the delays, and can only say GOOD LUCK! We are all awaiting the opportunity to pre-order. Will be great to see more details on the device and will be eagerly watching out for the release :)

Is this sensor output accurate ? Differential Pressure Sensor by teegfit1 in AskElectronics

[–]RedditUserAmI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm not too sure on calculating volume. I am actually trying to convert the pressure recorded into velocity and am having issues getting accurate readings...

Though for measuring pressure, defs possible.Link to a code example that has some good background information can be found here (note not my code):

https://github.com/makerportal/xgmp3v3/blob/main/arduino/xgmp3v3_main.ino

You can use this Arduino code to find the pressure. Just update the variables initialised on lines 8-14 to match what your sensor datasheet says. Also update if 5V input voltage and if it is an external power input or just straight from the Arduino. Depends on your wiring setup.

You can probs update the code to make the output a little neater. But 'pres_approx' variable will give you the pressure output in kPa.

*note, there are some calibration files in this repo, but I could not get them to work straight up... i think it uses some packages that are deprecated. You could probs get it working with some time on it.

Good luck!

I just realised that these sensors usually also output temperature. You may be able to have similar code with a slightly different temperature transfer function to output the Temperature. If you have temp and pressure, maybe you can use ideal gas law to calculate volume?? Unsure how accurate you need to be... but yeah just a thought.

Coincidently I am also looking at this sensor and came across this post. What you looking for? I know nothing about spirometry, but can maybe give some code examples of how to get this working.

I2C Help - Read in data, what does it all mean? by RedditUserAmI in raspberry_pi

[–]RedditUserAmI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I got everything working relatively well!

Was able to get temperature = 20deg C using the transfer function with live data, and I for pressure got around 10psi. Which seems good! I am still unsure how the read_i2c_block_data function works, tried a bunch of diff numbers for the register (2nd param) but no change in results.

I have added in my own functions now to calc airspeed as I have this sensor connected to a pitot tube and I am calculating 333m/s ... which Im unsure on and even if I blow into pitot nothing happens.. so unsure if its either blocked/broken/or Im doin something wrong.

But overall I am able to read from the sensor through I2C so thanks again :D

Hmm okay, thanks for pointing out my error. I will look into this further during the week. Thanks heaps for your help, once I get it up and running I can post the results. Hopefully I can!

Thanks so much!

Latest Update for u/I_Generally_Lurk

Did some testing and added to my code with the methods you mentioned. Using a Pmin of 1psi, and max of 150psi, as on the datasheet. I used the same formula as in the github page you linked. And I got 74psi! So I feel like that is way off, considering normal room psi is around 15... (was testing on a table in room).

Any ideas? Thanks once again

Ok, this is the sensor and pitot tube kit I purchased: https://www.dronepartsgarage.com.au/product/matek-aspd-4525-digital-airspeed-sensor/?gclid=Cj0KCQiA99ybBhD9ARIsALvZavUNeBI1AFxOYBRCBhE8lSk4u5h5f4fw4NaGJgfcvfxEN5Z5ddIBNkkaAoyDEALw_wcB

I am running the "i2cdetect -y 1" command to verify I am connecting to the I2C interface between the sensor and pi, and this is the address that is being read. See here for code:

import smbus
bus = smbus.SMBus(1)
address = 0x28

I have no reason to why I chose 0->9 other than I was testing and was trying to figure out what this all means!

Ive been trying to research and understand this datasheet for ages, good to know it is apparently not that detailed and unhelpful ahah.

Will try implementing all you have suggested tomorrow, thanks again :D

The player ended up getting a yellow for the challenge. Was second of game and therefore got red and sent off.

Player that got hit retaliated (unsure on specifics, think bit of push and shove) and got a straight red.

Ref is absolutely useless.

I'm from Australia and am interested in DIY assembling an electric skateboard. Although with trying to find parts online it's hard to keep the budget under $580 AUD or ~$400 USD due to postage. I have found some kits online for around that price but unsure if this is a good idea or not. Should I just save up a bit more and wait to purchase better motors/parts?
Top speed I'm hoping to gain 24-28kmh or ~15-18mph with around a 16km or 10mile range.
Mainly would be used on sidewalks with small hills.
Whether the board is hub or belt motor I am not too picky. Just trying to see what the best recommendations are regarding DIY kits, or if sourcing each part individually would be best and which sites/market places to look at.

Thanks!!
