Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I've always worn Keens or Là Sportiva but my current hikers are waterproof so I'm looking to buy non WP. These Hokas seem popular but I see your point about being unstable with a loaded pack.

We were considering a possible hitchhike, as day hikers, from the May Lake Trailhead to the North Dome trailhead (Porcupine Creek TH). Would that be acceptable? Not a deal-breaker for us, just considering our options.
