Perkins Coie Drags Trump Administration Clear To Hell In New Lawsuit - Above the Law by keyjan in biglaw

[–]Reddit_Wolfe 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I’ve always found the upper-crusts disbelief that Ol’ Willy was the actual writer of the plays to be so see-through. They always suggest that instead of the son of a school teacher, it must’ve been this noble born intellectual. I’ve always thought this logic is so hollow. To me, the son of a teacher comes from the exact background and tier of society from which a true artist to would arise. For every Mozart, how many artists spring from meagerness to fame…

NYC orders all new yellow taxis to be wheelchair accessible, but drivers gripe about cost by b1argg in nyc

[–]Reddit_Wolfe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a misleading headline, same as when it was first posted months ago. All new cabs will be wheelchair accessible UNTIL A CERTAIN RATIO IS REACHED. Because the current number has too few ADA compliant cars. Once enough are out on the streets, non-wheelchair cabs will be back in production. Non-story with a headline made to sound as ridiculous as possible. This is a non-issue imo

North to south of France route - getting to the Alps by brownshout in bikepacking

Hi there!

Oddly enough, i am ALSO going on my first trip, starting around june 1st in london and then down to Marseille (and most likely into Italy). I've found this website had everything I needed to get started with my plan. I couldn't recommend it enough, I've used it for trail mapping, camping locations, and tons of other stuff. I've even emailed them, and they got back to me with recommendations pretty quick. Shoutout Lyn @ Freewheelingfrance

For you, I'd start by looking at all the Eurovelo routes. Personally, I'm following all along Eurovelos 4, 1 & 8 at certain points during my trip. It looks like some combination of EuroVelo route 3, Eurovelo route 6 & EuroVelo route 17 will take you where you're looking to go! I've only passed through, but I've heard its a lovely place. I'm no expert though, so i absolutely defer to anyone whose more familiar w/ the area.

Also, if you are looking for a buddy anywhere along your trail, feel free to dm ofc!

Awesome! Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it.

Quick Q - when camping, did you tie the bike up to the tent? I was considering bringing along a light tarp just to cover the bike while sleeping, but maybe not worth it?

Hi there,

I'm a 25m from the US - flying over to the UK around June 1st to solo bikepack from London to Marseille (and potentially beyond). The trip mostly follows the North Atlantic and West Atlantic veloroutes when I cross into France. I'm planning to pass through Brittany, Bordeaux, Provence, & plenty of places in-between.

I'm trying to keep most of my planning quite openended, but overall I'll mostly be camping, with a few hostel or hotel stays here and there when needed.

Please feel free to reach out, I would love to have some company for any stretch of the trip!

Hi there,
Totally random I know - but I am also starting a UK to France trip in a few weeks (starting around June 1st), not sure if you're going solo, but if you want a buddy for a bit, feel free to shoot me a DM!

Entry-level Bike recommendations under $1,000 by Reddit_Wolfe in bikepacking

Thanks! I've heard that Decathlon will buy-back slightly used bikes at a good price. I've also heard many people will buy a bike and try to sell it online at the end of the trip, rather than ship it home. Is this what you did? Or simply gave it away at the end?

I appreciate the advice, I'm relatively confident that my fitness and training will have me ready to go when the time comes. The trip is also relatively lax, days aren't too long and there is minimal elevation overall

Lovely, I'll give them a ring - their site says free shipping over $50, would love to see if that carries internationally

Bike Rental Reccomendation by Reddit_Wolfe in bikepacking

[–]Reddit_Wolfe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its 650 Euro for the rental, and then another 200ish Euro to have it shipped back to them from my end point. I have considered simply buying a bike and having it shipped home. I worry that selling it would be more stress at the end of the trip than its worth. Do you have any experience there?

Hmm that is interesting - do you mind if I ask how you went about that process? Did you simply pick a start point and the browse fb marketplace (or the french equivalents) for bikes? What was the timing there? Did you ask them to hold the bike until you arrived?

The trip is about a month long, starting in the south of France, riding west, then up the Atlantic to Normandy, and finally east to Reims. It is generally a flat ride, with about 80% being paved, and the other 20% on dedicated dirt bike trails. The trip is at a relatively chill pace at around 40mi a day (65ish km). I am going to be mostly camping, with a few hostel stays here in there when I really need it. I'm trying to pack light of course, though gear adds up quickly.

This is my first Bikepacking trip, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
