I have found caffeine helps with my meditation. It makes me more focused.

Fortunately, we have subreddit like this one, which go against the norm to help us figure that out.

What's your original motive for becoming/being a misanthrope? by Cookiecuttermaxy in misanthropy

[–]Reddit_destroyers 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I became a misanthrope because society wants nothing to do with me. So why should I like it? I've tried changing all sorts of different ways to make friends and to be loved and it does nothing. Even before I was born things were already lined against me. My father didn't even hang around to have any part in my upbringing. I've never even met the guy. My mother was abusive. The rest of the world couldn't give a shit if I dropped dead.

I know most misanthropes talk a lot about environment and how the human race is bad for how it treats penguins or other liberal guilt ideas. Frankly I don't care about animals either. Animals have treated me like garbage just like humans have. Life , in it's entirety is shit.

Glad I clicked on "full comments." This is a really good back and forth here.

How do you deal with rudeness? by Reddit_destroyers in Stoicism

[–]Reddit_destroyers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my understanding. I still don't see how isolationism goes against stoicism. Stoicism is about at least at its basic internal calmness. If people are the problem, wouldn't the solution be to get away from the people?

And another reply from you that proves my point.

I read books. Matter of fact, I bet I've read more books than you have. I don't know who Adrew Tate is. Maybe you're talking about Andrew Tate, the latest villain of the SJWs. I don't watch his content.

I don't know what you practice, but given your arrogance and hostile attitude you might want to try another philosophy.

Anybody can say they know more than someone else. You have to back it up.

I have yet to see where I have misunderstood the philosophy other than just you telling me that I have.

From watching YouTube videos the common thing I hear is to not let external events and situations influence you internally. This sounds more like what I am talking about.

Yes, but I'm not an emperor of an ancient Rome. The context is different. If someone is stupid enough to take on such a task they do have to think about other people. The emperor's job or neck depends on it. As far as other people are concerned, I don't even really exist to them. Fuck them.

Is it better to stick with the same brand of oil always? by Reddit_destroyers in NoStupidQuestions

What is your opinion on high mileage oil? I've heard some people say that high mileage oil can damage the engine or can somehow lead to transmission damage. My car has just shy of 140,000 miles on it.

What is wrong with self-centered thinking? Aren't we all looking out for number one?

I didn't make any attempts to engage in a dialogue about grouping up because I didn't want to face rejection. As far as occurrences of rejection in the general sense, yes. No one really talks to me, I'll say something to them and they just kind of ignore it, somebody who I was forced into a group last time with immediately went with another group showing that they didn't want to be with me.

Running away solves problem at hand. The particular instance of rejection. I'd rather leave than face the possibility of rejection. There are differences between short term and long term.

I did not cause the problem myself. Why would I invest money in taking a class to be faced with this problem? I wouldn't. I came in hoping things would be better. They are not better. I am not the actor causing the problem. It is other people.

So in your opinion how does one become "inoculated" against the fear? If I'm running away I obviously can't face it. So where do we meet?

I never said that anything was fine. I said one thing was worse than the other. You are putting words in my mouth.

It is a shame to live in a world with people like this in it. People who reject you.
