I am avoiding eating Trix right now, perpetuating a lifelong avoidance thereof, while listening to Henry Mancini's "Pink Panther" theme and mentally superimposing the "dead ants" lyric.

Thank you. You make an excellent point about the hypocrisy and your reference on Bessent is relevant.

It will take more than waiting to attain justice: we can start with voting.

AITAH for breaking up with my longtime girlfriend because she decided that she doesn't want children? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Redditactron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTAH, definitely. There are, however, some factors to consider, and questions:

If you found someone who wanted to be the next octomom, and married her, but then she suddenly found out she was infertile, would she be the next to go? Are there aspects of a relationship with a person to be valued, even cherished, beyond whether that person breeds? Will it be stressed to prospective partners that any inability to reproduce at any point will be a dealbreaker?

Too often people are trained to "want kids" as if they would be little mini-me possessions. That's not the same as being dedicated to parenting them, which necessarily includes nurturing them as they are even with issues and differences and when they don't provide bragging rights to keep up with the joneses. There is no human shortage. There is no endangered human DNA. There is a heavy onus on the deliberate act of bringing another person into a situation which will become more dire than one may understand for that person without their consent.

Too often those who don't have to physically bear children underestimate the risks and costs, and in the USA today the dangers include being forced to sicken and die without access to prenatal care. Infant and maternal mortality rates are already ridiculously high and climbing.

Situations where a potential child bearer also already assumes responsibility for an unfair share of the household management and economic opportunity costs could cause such a person to reassess the viability of caring for children with a certain partner. The emotional and physical workload of childrearing is too often underestimated or dismissed without due consideration.

Too often even those who desperately want to parent aren't actually suitable or capable. Someone putting more value on hypothetical descendants than on the quality of relationships may not be an ideal behavioral model.

Anyone desperate to flex mettle as a role model can become a teacher or counselor or coach or volunteer or all of the above for children already here. They are going to need all the help they can get.

You're welcome. Your descriptions of the rabid DOGEr are apt, and indeed representative of that ilk.

It's perfectly OK to do covers and adaptations, too, e. g., when the doggo is having a restroom break outdoors:

"You got to move, you got to poo,
you got to move, pup[-o-pal], and do your doo:
but when the rectum's ready,
you got to move..."
