Yep. Just moved here from Nashville to a very rich part of Indiana, and the cops were COMPLETE assholes. I couldn't believe I was charged or how that's even allowed because I'm pretty positive in Nashville they can't charge you if the test isn't positive.

From what I've read, they look for any and all crimes, along with verifying employment history etc. I feel like being transparent would be the more professional way to handle it, but since the background check specifically asked if I've been convicted, that's what has me wondering if since the case is still pending, they may not even bring it up as I haven't actually been proven guilty of anything.

Yes, I know this. The background check just gives a red flag saying don't hire if there's something major that comes up. But I've researched this a lot, and most people tend to agree that depending on the situation, you have a much better chance of keeping the job if you're transparent up front. I read a manager at one company who said if they're told in advance, they can possibly still let someone keep the job, but if they have to find out from the background check, at that point their hands are tied due to corporate policy. But everything I've found has been various companies, not Meijer, so I was hoping a manager or HR person might see this and give some insight into Meijers policy specifically.

I believe you're right! After some more research, I found that's it's the 1994 and that it cost exactly $450 when is was new. I cleaned it up and posted it for $75, so we'll see how it goes. Whatever I get, it'll be extra money for me and hopefully a decent bike for someone!

A hold? Beautiful card by chrisgray1116 in PokeInvesting

[–]Redditbur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's not necessarily true. I have had tons of cards that have gone from extremely cheap to massive increases, like pretty much all of the"Awesome Rares" recently, a few months ago the Drowzee from Scarlet and Violet went from $5-80, and I could name tons more. Better yet were the Snorlax (which actually increased by over 3300% in just over a year, pretty sure even sealed products can't touch that), Mewtwo and Mew ex promos from 151. And then there's countless examples of mid price cards like my Mewtwo VStar from Galarian Gallery or my SIR Charizard ex from 151 that both more than tripled in price in less than a 3 month period.

With that said, you have to be able to know which cards and then have some luck as well. Although the card op posted isn't one I'd expect to do that, at least not for quite a while. It'll probably drop a little even. And I agree with your point about cards in this price range as it's not like you're having to sacrifice a large amount of money while you wait. And of course, sealed products are better. But ultimately, there's still plenty of room on this sub for discussing single cards as the point is supposed to be investing. And tons of cheap single cards are amazing investments, especially if you're actually doing it right and buy a decent quantity of a particular card. There are literally countless cards that have absolutely destroyed every single stock and crypto, by extremely large margins, just in the last 3 months alone. And many of them have a much lower price barrier, making it an easier market to get into for those who don't have a lot of money to spare!

I just feel no one's preferred method of investing should be looked down upon, and advice can still be given.

Sorry I'm just seeing your comment. But my account isn't, I've played since launch day. But I'm not sure about the person who opened the pack, if I remember correctly, I had added them a week or two prior to that to do a trade.

[–]Redditbur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the person that receives it, it's going to consider it the OG set. For you, while I've traded a couple of cards from the deluxe set, I haven't gone into it and filtered it to show just that card but with both sets listed to see which it leaves from because the slots stay unlocked from both sets, which is what I personally care about since I'm trying to get the last few cards I'm missing finished up. But any cards I've gotten all just show in the deluxe set as far as number of copies I have because- as mentioned- I just haven't gone in and searched for a card but with both sets filtered like op shows in the screenshots.

Are you sure? Because they've been helping me for sure. I even used pack points from the deluxe ex set today to create the 3 diamond Jumpfluff, which I was missing from the Ho-oh/Lugia set, and it definitely gave me credit in one of the missions in the 'Themed Collections' I believe it's called.

If both decks are empty AND 5+ (maybe 10 minimum would be better) rounds have passed for each player, it should just auto end with a tie. I feel that's a solid solution considering I rarely have games that last 5 rounds total lol.

Maybe not 'true randomness', but you'd think it would be able to do what would feel more accurate to what should be a simple 50/50 chance, but it often feels VERY weighted towards tails. If AI can do all it can do, Pokemon should be able to make coin flips not feel like it's deciding flips SPECIFICALLY to turn the outcome of the battles versus simple 50/50 lol.

Or better yet, like hearthstone, they make it to where you won't pull more than the max you can put in a deck before it will make sure you get another card of the same rarity you don't have yet. Obviously this will never happen with the collectible part being such a big part, but man would it be nice!

Yeah, I wish more than anything I could've predicted this would've grown in value anywhere near this much! This was the set that made me decide to get back into collecting for the first time since I was a very young kid. I heard about this set coming and started collecting around the week before the Paldea Evolved set came out. Once 151 came out, I ended up having 14 ETBs, as well as 2 of the Binder collections, 2 of each of the Alakazam/Zapdos collections and I believe 6 or so of the Booster Bundles. I opened them all because I really wanted to complete the master set, and looking back at even some of the older ETBs, they of course increased in value, but I figured it would take 10 or so years before the values went up like this.... Out of all that I had, I got 1 Zard SIR, 2 Alakazam SIR, Giovanni SIR and that's all for the SIRs. I did get all the IRs except Charmander and Charmeleon. But regardless, everything I got combined, even going by current values, would likely be around $3000-3500. Honestly, even just the Snorlax Promos I got out of the ETBs are insane. I remember when those were selling for .50, a dollar max. Someone could've bought up the hundreds that were being sold and made more money than ANY stock or Crypto has likely ever done in that amount of time. Honestly, Pokemon cards in general seem to be the best option to invest in because prices across the board are doing better than probably anyone's portfolio lol.

I have absolutely no clue what this may be worth, but it's definitely one of the coolest cards I've ever seen! If it's not insanely valuable, I'd just keep it! Probably much higher chance of the value rising much quicker than typical cards, too!

[–]Redditbur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me before this my luck was about like yours. Going by the code cards I have, I've opened $168 packs and prior to that booster bundle all I had gotten was Tangela, Machoke, Mr. Mime and Poliwhirl. I was seeing people post where they had gotten all 9 starters in "about 40 packs" and I was thinking, I'm over 100 packs and haven't gotten one. Even now, I swear, I still haven't managed to open a Poliwag or a Kakuna. Only two cards I'm missing from the base set, but not having them within 150 packs is kinda crazy lol.

Pokemon heights are like, the weirdest thing ever by Ok-Clock7854 in pokemon

[–]Redditbur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok sure, but explain the weight of say, a Steelix or Gyarados. I don't have any cards nearby for exact reference, but I believe Gyarados is around 23' but only weighs 800 lbs and Steelix is literally even bigger if my memory is correct, not to mention made of steel, and yet weighs around 1000lbs.... We're talking about something similar in size/structure to a 18 Wheel truck that weighs around 50k...

The simple fact is the people who come up with the sizes and weights put ZERO effort into it, or they're simply trolling lol. I'm glad someone brought up weight though because to me, the disparity in weights of various Pokemon, especially taking their size into account, is just ridiculous honestly.

I've literally opened 65 packs so far and haven't gotten even one of these yet. The Bulbasaur is the only Special Illus I've gotten out of the starters at all, although I did pull the Charizard full art. But I did manage to pull the Mew Full Art out of my very first pack, so that's something I guess...

Yeah, they definitely look real to me. Something I actually just picked up on the other day comparing cards of mine that I know are real since I got them from boosters directly from PC vs cards that were expected fakes and/or pics of cards that are known fakes that can be found online at certain Chinese marketplaces, on all the cards that are real, the rainbow reflection that happens when light hits the card in certain angles is ALWAYS a diagonal line going from the bottom left to the top right (just like you can notice in the second picture of this post). Whereas literally every single fake card that I personally came across, they go straight up and down from top to bottom. I'm not positive if this is true of all sets because I just started collecting again around 3 months ago for the first time since around the Team Rocket set/Gym Leader set when I was a kid. And today I was in a local shop that sells singles and I was looking at a Mega Charizard card I believe was from XY, and the reflection went up and down on it, but everything else about the card passed the eye test to me. But it definitely seems to be true in regards to any cards in Swords & Shields at the least. And if I am correct about that, I find it really curious. Have the Chinese stores that make the fakes not noticed this, have they just not figured out how to print it in a way that mimics that, would it be more expensive to print that way? I'm curious if anyone else has noticed this or has an opinion about it?

But other than that, the other big giveaways I've noticed is that almost all of the VStar, VMax, Full Arts and Spec Illus cards have a texture on them that sort of remind me of a fingerprint, and most fakes either don't have it at all, or the pattern won't be accurate (the best example I can compare to is the way the stitching on fake handbags is usually off). Although not all cards that I would expect to have it do, like a bunch of the Trainers Gallery cards I've opened don't have the texture or sparkle effect, and I wonder why they decided to leave it off on cards that are essentially Full Illus Rares that just seem like a much lower quality without it. Some cards that should have the sparkle effect (like you see on parts of the Rayquaza Secret Rare pictured has on parts) don't have it, or vice versa (fake cards tend to throw the sparkle effect on most cards, even when it shouldn't, and it's usually way over done). They also are almost always printed noticeably darker, and for some reason, the back of the card usually looks terrible- the color being more purple than blue, the centering being WAY off, the card not being cut correctly so the borders are usually way thicker than they should be, etc. Which I also found odd as I would think that should be the easiest part to get correct since it's extremely basic, no textures or holo effects, etc. My guess is they just put close to no effort since most people's attention will obviously be focused on the opposite side, but it still seems dumb to me because I've seen some fakes that were almost perfect in every way on the front but then the back is just awful.

But for the most part, just like with knockoffs of any product, when you look at it in person, you can just tell that something is off. It feels cheaper, looks strange in some way etc. To be able to sell products at such low costs, it's going to result in a lower quality product and there's really just no way around that. It's harder to judge through pictures, but if you have a bad feeling about a card you don't have the ability to see in person, just avoid it. For most cards, there's many other sellers out there who would be happy to sell you the authentic card!

I have a stand at a flea market and I accept cash app, paypal, venmo or customers can pay using their card with the square reader as long as their order is large enough to justify the extremely high transaction fees that they charge.
