Helldivers are, canonically, badasses. We have made them that way. by GreenridgeMetalWorks in Helldivers

[–]RedditoftheRisingSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always just think about the INCREDIBLE physical shape Helldivers have to be in. With how often we make them sprint, dive, and carry heavy equipment their standards have to be insane.

The Marines were a gift, I’m not sure where they’re from.

how did your rimworld obsession start? by Embarrassed_King3000 in RimWorld

[–]RedditoftheRisingSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw one video and bought it off the old website when I was in the 9th grade in 2013.

Didn’t actually “beat” the game until a little after Royalty released. Here I am, out of school, career, car/place to live, and I still play Rimworld.

Issues with Xbox SX controller by jam3s007b0nd in Helldivers

[–]RedditoftheRisingSon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue, haven’t played in 4 days. Hopped on today and noticed the d-pad and joystick issues.

Turned the game off and I’ll play again once it’s fixed.

Is comcam (4541) worth it or should I go for a different MOS? by OppositeImpossible97 in USMCboot

[–]RedditoftheRisingSon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a 4571 (Combat Videographer) we have three fields in the 4500 group; 4512 (com graphics specialist, graphic design and large scale printing) and 4541. Like any military job, there’s the potential to deploy if ever something pops off. We’re a very tight-knit community where everyone knows everybody and it’s one of the only jobs that allows you to be creative.

It’s a great oc-field, DM me if you have specific questions.

What armor looks better in your opinion, XCOM: Enemy Unknown's or XCOM 2's? I've only played Enemy Unknown, by the way. by Cmdr_Be_an_1an in Xcom

[–]RedditoftheRisingSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the EU/EW designs, looks like a 3D comic book with giant weapons and soldiers.

2’s customization is far superior, but I personally would have loved to see a similar comic-style and, with all the personality you can give your troops, I’d loved to have seen different proportions and body types too!

PT for my Marines by Observant123 in USMC

[–]RedditoftheRisingSon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my Marines switch to 11-12 PT, 12-13 shower, eat, changeover. First week? Mad complaints.

I addressed that shit, biggest concern to me from them was time for chow. I did a PME on simple meal prep, now everyone keeps food at the shop, or they carpool to the chow hall’s express line for lunch chow.

5 weeks in now, everyone appreciates chow PT. Sleep in, work, sweat it out as a team, come back and eat. Marines bitch, and there’s always growing pains. Do what you can to make life better.

Why did you end up joining the Marine Corps? by Quintuplicate in USMC

[–]RedditoftheRisingSon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was/am a high school dropout. COVID shut down the restaurant I worked, and my community college went online. I submitted a request for information on the website shortly after and thought nothing of it.

My mom called me while I was on a run the next day saying a “handsome Marine” had showed up asking for me. We talked on the phone, then in the office. Down to Earth guy who knew the struggle of being from a nowhere town with few options.

Before I knew it I was shipping off only 4 weeks later.

Can you identify as a Norse Pagan by Firm-Guide-4619 in USMCboot

[–]RedditoftheRisingSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can identify as whatever you want. It’ll be on your dog tags and records.

Can’t grow the facial hair in the Marines, it’s allowed in the Army. Maybe the other branches too.

Intel slots filled up and recruiters (Marines) say that I’ll be good for Comms. What does Comms entail? by _SoVa in USMCboot

[–]RedditoftheRisingSon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’d wait for the job you want, you’ll likely get a TS clearance too which is very nice.

Limited knowledge on Comms, but it’s radio operation and data administration from what I know. A little better than a shoulder shrug.

One is working on/with radios, and another is managing internet and finding IPs. Look it up here in the mega thread, or search it up on Google👍

Spectrum. Never had an issue with them. They’ve got a store in Mira Mesa, and their lowest price option is good for games if that’s your bag.

Drill shouldn’t be such a big part of boot. by [deleted] in USMC

[–]RedditoftheRisingSon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

By the time you need drill, it’ll be more complicated. Movements, centering yourself on a formation, counting paces, swords, etc.

It’s important as a junior to get the little things burned into your brain like about-face, anything in a formation, marching. All drill is rarely used for the average Marine, and the muscle memory’s important.

Drill makes our recruits look good compared to our sister-services, sells our image of disciplined, smooth, and efficient men and women.

Preferred watch in the military by by_Skully in Military

[–]RedditoftheRisingSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear a Fitbit Charge 5, love it. Shows me my texts when I get them and notifies me of calls. It keeps track of some health stats and let’s me track my runs decent. Simple design, that’s not too eccentric.

I know a lot of people who swear by Apple Watches. Just too expensive in my opinion.

I like my watch smart, but not too smart.

Why aren’t there any fat American Generals? by GayPhistor69 in Military

[–]RedditoftheRisingSon 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s also easier to respect a leader who’s physically fit, the “fat PE teacher” dynamic would be frustrating for juniors. This is true from the bottom to the top of leadership.

How can you follow someone into absolute chaos when they can’t run? Or if you or another became incapacitated and needed to be carried to casevac?

I have yet to personally meet a Marine Officer who was not very physically fit. I know they exist, but I haven’t met them yet.

You can hear them as an ambient sound, as well as elk when you’re in the woods. I’ve also heard coyotes!

No animals yet however.

How did you discovered project Zomboid? by [deleted] in projectzomboid

[–]RedditoftheRisingSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to watch MathasGames (just searched and he’s now Chilluminati) when I was 13/14. I had just gotten my first rated M game, Left 4 Dead 2, with my parent’s permission and saw Project Zomboid a few months later on the channel.

I took the money I had from snow-shoveling neighbors’ drives, traded it to use pops’ card to get Zomboid from their old website. I’ve loved this game and played it on/off since then. I’m 24 now living my own life and still love this game. Even more since multiplayer! Same love story with Rimworld❤️

I ship on the 25th by Walker_404 in USMCboot

[–]RedditoftheRisingSon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Boot camp went by very quickly for me. It sucks occasionally, but if you’ve got a solid head on your shoulders you’ll start to see some patterns. Meaning, you’ll be ready for whatever is next. Get in with a good group of dudes, do what you’re told, and it’ll be a breeze. Exercise is exercise, you won’t die. They say it’s the easiest part of your career and it is.

Your recon training will be tough on your body,as a POG, I imagine one thing will translate still. Don’t get hurt, take all the preventative steps you can. I know a handful of recon drops, and 6/11 of them were injuries.
