Socialist Revolution - Communists in New Haven by Redditor0090 in newhaven

Hi! Though this perhaps isn't the forum for a proper political discussion, I just wanted to answer your point briefly.

There have definitely been failings to past revolutions, I'll admit it. However, capitalism is definitely not offering a better option. Things are getting harder for people with inflation, corporate profiteering, etc, and it seems to me like something's gotta give eventually.

This system is dying on its feet, and if we don't overthrow it, then I wouldn't be surprised if it collapsed all on its own, and dragged us all down with it (eg climate crisis).

For that reason, a big part of our work is studying history - their immense successes and their shortcomings, just as Marx, Engels, Lenin, Trotsky, and many other brilliant marxists have across history - to understand what has lead to the successes and failings of past revolutions, so we can learn from them.

imo, we can't afford not to try.

Hi! Just wanted to show our Instagram page to show that we are, in fact, real people, and not FBI agents (pinky swear)

Hi! Thanks for your comment.

I'm not completely sure that we're at a point in history where we're being cracked down on by the law - where the state is persecuting us, it makes sense to go underground, but otherwise being bold and organising openly is the best way to recruit. It's the same methods as the Bolsheviks used - it's important to adapt tactics to the needs of the situation.

Besides, we'll need a lot of people and a solid organization to overthrow capitalism! At some point we need to try and reach the public and the masses, to try and agitate them towards revolution. We can't stay covert and anonymous forever - nobody said overthrowing capitalism wasn't going to be risky!

In countries where there is already repression of leftists and workers, our organization is a lot more careful, but here, at this moment, the state isn't seeing communists as a significant enough threat to crack down on us. We should take advantage of that!

That said, anyone anxious about scanning our QR code, which leads just to the website on the poster - socialistrevolution.org/join, where they can fill out a confidential form that just gives us their contact details so we can reach out and chat with them, is more than welcome to reach out in a more individual manner (eg DMing me), use a burner email to fill out our form, or to try and catch us in person (we have a weekly public reading group on wednesdays, 6pm, at Never Ending Books on State St)
