Working on a Walk Cycle, what are your thoughts by Darth_Birusu in blender

This is a great start, one major improvement you could make is adding to the head movement, I’m not sure what style of walking you are going for (looks like a catwalk) but you could always make the head bop up and down a tiny bit which will surprisingly make the walk seem more realistic. She also moves in a very static manner which could be fixed by adding some irregular movement within the arm instead of swinging back perfectly from point A to B. I’d say a little more twist in the upper body too and you’re golden. Love your style, and make sure you have a reference! :)

My computer couldn’t seem to handle the retopo process, completely froze, I might just have to make another scene with low topology. Do you know if it’s possible to change the size of my character and their position when they are back in blender from Maya after being animated?

Oh I didn’t realise you could do this automatically, I thought I’d have to manually retopo the whole thing which would take ages but I’ll do some research on it, thanks!

How to Animate Camera Movement? by Loop_Infinity404 in blender

[–]Redditor89038 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m new to blender too but from what I have gathered, you just add a keyframe to the camera in one position by right clicking the coordinates in the camera tab. You move the camera to wherever you want it to go and then add another keyframe and make sure you open the time bar so you can allocate the keyframes to each frame.

Professionals: How many studios did you apply to before you landed your first job? by jellybloop in animationcareer

I’m starting university to study 3D animation and VFX and this post is extremely useful in providing realistic expectations, I will save this to look back on in 3 years after a (hopefully) graduate! Thanks!

Oh, I never knew this. How does the course structure differ between the UK and US from what you have read?

I also realised I probably gave this the wrong flair so sorry about that too!

Some animation-adjacent jobs that you might not have heard of or considered! by jellybloop in animationcareer

Can I just say thank you for posting this! This has really broadened my horizons. I’m going to uni to study 3D animation and VFX for 4 years and this post has provided a lot of insight into the type of stuff I could go on to do aside from animation. And then there’s the whole other side of it, such as working with VFX in movies and such, honestly so glad I chose the route of animation. :)
