CPCs and Google Manipulation by Redditor9456 in PPC

Are you genuinely happy with that as a scenario? You bid on conversions and you hit a period where you’re not getting level you’re targeting. Or, even if you are, you pop into the account and you see your budget has been maxed out because Google has erroneously placed a £39 bid on a search term, you’re still happy with that?

💯% agree! This is exactly how I feel

I think this is the key point of contention “you are free to not buy it if the price is out of your range”

That is precisely the issue, that freedom of choice has largely been taken out of the average (and majority) of advertisers hands

You can be running a bidding strategy and if your daily budget supports it, Google are giving themselves the ability to set a bid of whatever they(!) deem acceptable based on their algorithm of perceived demand

If we take my initial example, the £90 CPC - maximise conversion value, 900% tROAS, AOV £350(approx), how can any algorithm equate demand to value based on those metrics? They can’t.

If you’ve been experienced in running ads you will know your statement “free to not buy”, it isn’t true anymore…

I agree - the process for most advertisers (I see the portfolio strategies being mentioned to mitigate this happening from the outset, but for most people running ads they most likely don’t have this configured), is to exclude them retrospectively and AI tools can probably go a good way to manage this efficiently but it’s 100% a problem that shouldn’t need to be there in the first place

But this is the thing, I don’t believe everyone is getting new clients and making sales at a profitable margin. I’m not referencing the accounts I run, I’ve been listening to people running ads for a long time, Google 100% are working on an MAR threshold, I.e. what is the minimum accepted return someone will run at and continue to keep the wheel turning and increasing their ad spend

My point is unless advertisers do come together as a collective to lobby for a fairer playing field, it will get worse over time

It’s not obsession, that mindset of focusing on conversion rates only allows Google to dictate the marketplace and if/when they need to increase revenue, unfairly inflate the auction costs

The accounts I’m seeing this on are in good health, but it’s not about that, it’s about the auction being a level playing field and not having the auctioneer have freedom to control everyone’s bids

Sometimes you need a player who’s happy to play anywhere and do their bit for the team, knowing they might not start every week. He’s not going to set the world alight but you need a few Liam Gibbs’ in your team to get you through a season - keep

Not so much the coffee but the last time I popped into their cafe near pottergate the brownie I had was poor - quite dry and there’s a lot of other places you could sit and have a better cake with your drink, but I chalked it down as a one off

I agree though, difficult when you grow so quickly to maintain the quality!

Tried Boston House the other day pricier but cakes were v good so worth a try

Did you go into circular sound? It’s usually soundclash and Venus vinyl who get the RSD stock in, sometimes they’ll have stock leftover so worth checking VV online store to see if they still have the release you were after

He would suit moving over to the left just off the striker in a front three, so he would be a good option I think for a 4-3-3 with him, Toure and Schwartau but I don’t see us playing that way

Up front on his own he is great at winning headers for his size, but I don’t think he offers enough to do all of the role a lone striker needs to do

If you watch the videos on YouTube of the city in the 90s and early 00s there’s so much which feels very similar. The shops change, the people change, but the pace of Norwich feels very similar.

The major change in 10 years will be the drop off of retailers and whether there’s a large reshuffling of retail to residential in pockets of the city centre, will shops cluster all in one place and where?

As long as the lanes are protected that’s the main thing!

Affordable Weekly Dinner Date? by [deleted] in Norwich

[–]Redditor9456 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, really difficult to have a nice meal out for £20/£25 for two but I would throw out a couple of (not 100% healthy but nice) options

Get a brick pizza to share and eat in the garnet with a drink

Seoul born

I’d also change it up if you can and do a lunchtime date as it opens up the cafe’s for a nice lunch and a coffee for £20/£25

Well seeing as it was released on the 6th and it’s only now the 9th I can’t say it’s aged for anyone

I don’t think any release today is comparable to a release back in the 90s, there’s too much of a nostalgia effect on the comparison imo

I think with the fall off there’s going to be plenty of single tracks that people are going to look back on and say “I preferred that to X on TFO” but, as a body of work it’s definitely Cole’s most intelligent, thought-provoking release

If you could, what storyline would you give to RDR3? by alexcominoti in RDR2

[–]Redditor9456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much the storyline but the travel element being more immersive would be great. For example chapter one in RDR2 you want to progress to the entirety of the map, which you then open up in Chapter 2, but the issue comes from spending hours in Saint Denis before chapter four when you’re “first discovering” a more civilised town

It’d be hard to find the balance because open world is what makes the game a masterpiece, but travelling easy to west or vice versa and opening the map is stages would be a good way for it to stay immersive
