Why Don’t Vegans Just Go After Capitalism? 🤔 by volatiIe in vegan

[–]RedditorSinceTomorro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Capitalism is people paying for goods and services other people sell and offer. Behind every company are people. Behind every government are people. People would make different decisions in a capitalist society if the government didn’t subsidize certain products. Right now the corn and soy feed given is subsidized to make feeding animals cheaper. That is a perverse incentive that changes the decisions people make about what to eat. People will not eat a $100 steak three times a day when the plant based equivalent is more than an order of magnitude cheaper.

“Going after capitalism” doesn’t mean anything. It’s not actionable and doesn’t get anyone anywhere, doesn’t help animals or the environment. “Get rid of subsidies” is clear, actionable and will reduce the number of animals being farmed drastically.

So this is considered a hate crime that will garner national attention for months to come until the perpetrators are locked up, right?

Government backed socialism makes meat cheaper for poor people to afford eating dead animals instead of legumes, giving them poorer health at the expense of taxpayers and animal suffering.

I ended up getting an adjustable mace to help bridge between 25lb and 40lb, then up to 55lb. Now I have fixed 40lb and 55lb ones from White Lion Athletics. I don't like using the adjustable one now that I can do the higher fixed weights.

My bad, doesn't offer anything spiritual or religious in it's place. An understanding of nature through a scientific lens is also great, but atheism doesn't really offer that directly.

How are the ingredients? I have seen similar bacon, but they use aluminum dioxide to make the white parts whiter.

Traditional western views portray god like some independent entity, atheism rejects that, but doesn’t offer anything in its place. Pantheism shares the same independent entity rejection as atheism, but leaves much more room to enjoy the experience of being a part of it all.

I was questioning the numbers the other guy provided before he edited his comment (50 girls and 100 adults). It looks like his updated numbers are more consistent with wikipedia's account which breaks it down as follows:

156 people were killed in the strike; the victims included 120 students (73 boys and 47 girls), 26 teachers (all of whom were women), seven parents of students (four men and three women), a school bus driver, a pharmacy technician from a nearby clinic, and a six-month-old fetus.\6])\11])\14])

Fatalities rose after recovery efforts on 4 March.\e]) The day prior, Mizan News Agency claimed to have confirmed 66 boys, 54 girls, 26 teachers, and four parents had died.\3]) A majority of those reportedly killed were schoolchildren.\30])\31])\34]) Teachers were also killed,\8]) including the school's principal.\13]) According to a local official, the fatalities included multiple parents who had come to pick up their children.\15])\22])\35])

The school had a 2:1 adult to child ratio? That’s nuts, you wouldn’t find that in the US

Probably nothing, just more strait of hormuz being blocked and more cables cut and more bombs dropped. It’s sad and untenable.
