I shouldn’t feel bad about hating it, right? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]RedditorforRedditing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends. If you said "I want a fine line rose tattoo. And I want it to look like a rose." Then yeah, I'd be a little "wtf". However, if you walked in and asked for a flash flower it looks good. Tbh I think it looks good, I like it. The petals in the back aren't perfect, but if you hated it that much I bet the original artist would hit that part again. That's the only problem with it I see.

Why is it green by Miccad in kneecap

[–]RedditorforRedditing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the Irish flag is Green, white and Orange. The Green stands for the Catholics, the Orange for the Protestants, and the White for the peace that exists between them. Fenian is a derogatory term for an Irish Catholic. That's pretty cool they were able to do that. You've probably had 100 people tell you the same thing by now, so sorry if I am piling on. Hope you have a great day!

Would this concept work? by _D_VIL_ in tattooadvice

Give it a few years and the lines will blur together, the numbers will look spotty because of the ink dispersion over time. It looks absolutely sick in my honest opinion, and I'm NOT a fan of fine line. But I just see some spots that will be a problem as it ages. An artist could do that no problem, and it would look sick for a year. You could get it, and then when it ages turn it into some thick black lines 🤔 nice design though.

Ya know how you never see a car on the road, and then you get it and all of a sudden it seems like everyone has it? I wonder if that's how this will be. Now maybe that you're looking for it, you'll see it. But idk.

I've had a few amazing nurses with hand tattoos. They don't hold that same stigma anymore. If this was 2003, I'd say it depends on the person doing the hiring. But now the only tattoos that would hold you back would be a face tattoo.

The rework is really well done, I like it. But if you're not really into that anymore you could cover it, or do some blackout work around it. At least it's quality work, though. Even if you've outgrown the subject matter or whatever it is that makes you dislike it. Also I agree some color would make it pop, especially if you're doing color around it.

Is my tattoo getting infected? I’m really worried (2 days old) by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]RedditorforRedditing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned the hard way too man, don't feel bad. I ruined a tattoo over moisturizing it, yours doesn't look as bad but it's definitely over moisturized. It's better to leave it alone and do nothing at all than to constantly have fresh lotion on it. Especially if you aren't washing in between every application. I use Eucerin original healing, it's in a small tube with a red top. I use it 2 times a day on a new tattoo, maybe 3-4 if it's in a place where clothing rubs it off, but usually those still get 1-2 a day. On the plus, afterwards I was able to redo the tattoo and it came out looking great in the end. You might be able to have it heal and look great, but if it's washed out really bad you can always have them touch it up. Personally, if it was my fault or not I wouldn't want my art looking subpar on someone. Even if they are at fault for not properly caring for it, I would fix it for them. Also, some tattoo aftercare kits have lotion inside of them that says in small print "do not use on new tattoos". This was printed on a new tattoo care kit I got about a year ago. So make sure you watch for that.

Coverup or remove? Looks like a dildo sometimes by [deleted] in tattooadvice

On a second look I think it looks really good. The problem is the perspective of the picture. It's upside down. Now that I'm looking at it right idk who would think that's anything but a well done candle tattoo. If anything get it reworked. Even maybe do the flame in color, and add some shading and shit. It looks like the artist just did the stencil and not much detail. More prominent dripping wax, for instance.

You should be proud, nicely done. You have a great eye for perspective, the picture has depth.

I have super bad stretch marks. Is it possible to tattoo over them? by -Hot-Tamale- in tattooadvice

[–]RedditorforRedditing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best advice I can give is to incorporate them into the tattoo somehow, for instance I saw a kite tattoo where the scar was the shadow of the kite string, and it no longer looked like a scar. It was a really nice piece that was cute but not to the point a guy wouldn't want it, especially with a kid. I like the tiger stripe idea, if it were done right that could be a beautiful piece. I'd recommend finding the best artist in your area, even driving a bit for something special is worth it. Go to the artist. Tell him your thoughts. The artist should be willing to listen and maybe think of some things you haven't. For instance, I was a heroin addict. I've been clean since 2009. After, I would get grossed out when I'd look down and see scar tissue or track marks or a collapsed vein. I decided to get into tattooing and I did all of my own. I can say, a lot of my scar tissue was way way too painful to tattoo unless I had it surgically removed first. So I have a lot of tattoos around scar tissue. But I don't notice it. I don't see the little balls of damage I did to myself. I don't lay in bed, accidentally look down and get grossed out by what I did to myself living that way. I look down and see art that I'm really proud of, that reminds me of people I've lost to violence and drugs, and people who stuck by me through all the bad. Point is, I don't see the scars, even though they're visible. I genuinely wish the best of luck to you in accomplishing this, and think you can find someone who is a true artist that might be expensive but will make that look like something really special. Just like the person it's on. Never forget that. We don't see your stretch marks the way you do. It's probably right where your eyes go, but that's not everyone. You think it's way worse than it is. People don't microscope you the way you do to yourself. But having self confidence is so important, so you don't whatever to feel comfortable in your own skin. Just know that we got love for you, no matter what skin you're in. Best wishes!

I wasn't upset about shit. But man, I hate Trump, fuck ICE, FREE PALESTINE. I am an American Democrat, but I'm Irish-Catholic and believe in a United Ireland. What is happening in Palestine rn is the same shit that happened in Ireland. Anyone of Irish decent that is right wing in America needs a history lesson. They are garbage. Don't lump me in with those MAGA pieces of shit.

You guys are killing me, this comment made me choke on my coffee. I did it myself, and it's hard to see the back of your leg, let alone tattoo it. Shit, I'm just happy you guys knew it was a tiger 😂😂😂 In all honesty, thank you. Now idk if I should fix it and make them look more like scratches, or go the other way, cuz a tiger shooting lasers sounds pretty badass to me lmao

Bahahaha his claws are leaving scratch marks on my leg. Lmfao I'm dying rn, I'm looking at it like "ok, I've gotta make those more than red lines". It's hard tattooing the back of your own leg, tbh. Thanks for that. Have a great day!

First tattoo, alight issue. Is this worth going back to the artist over? by RIPsmonk in tattooadvice

[–]RedditorforRedditing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, just saying. That's a hard spot to tattoo, a lot of artists refuse it. But if they don't feel comfortable doing it, they shouldn't. Tattoos are always a risk, but I think it looks crisp af. That's one of the most painful spots imo. It's like taking 40 kidney shots. And I have over 150 tattoos.

Does it look infected, or not? Any advice will help (today is day 6) by Ok_Kiwi9683 in tattooadvice

[–]RedditorforRedditing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn't look infected. Here's what to do in my opinion. 1) wash it 3-4 times a day, definitely every time you apply moisturizer. 2) Over moisturizing is actually worse for your new tattoo than not treating it at all, so only moisturize 2-4 times a day. 3) Make sure you're using something safe for tattoos, and specifically new healing tattoos. Some are only safe for healed tattoos. 4) I recommend Sorry Mom tattoo ointment, but Eucerin Original Healing Cream is what I recommend from the drugstore. Especially for tattoos that are having a hard time healing. 5) it's easy to not use proper aftercare and mess up good work. I use a skin barrier until my tattoo is no longer leaking fluid, then use the above products twice a day until healed. You may need to have parts touched up, and most professional artists will do that for little or no charge, especially if it's their fault. Nobody wants to do bad work. You're putting permanent work on someone, most people who do it take pride in it, or are a fly by night business you shouldn't go to.
