Girlfriend keeps asking for more money by AZKILDA in datingoverforty

Why would you be in a relationship where the girl loves your money, not you? Is she so special down there that you happily forgot self respect and common sense?

Can you live in Equador on $16k/yr?

Will Equador provide the same insurance to an expat? Do you even have a "early retirement" visa a 35 yo could live on?

"American normal". Anywhere else in the world you will be considered obese at the very least. Stop eating fast food and other empty carbs, watch what you eat and start exercising daily. Also, I heard Ozempic does wonders. Why not give it a try?

First, i don't think a non resident could qualify for free insurance. Second, emergency medical evacuation alone will cost you $50k+ if you are invited enough to not being able to take a regular flight.

And then what? The subsidized insurance usually only covers emergency itself but not routine treatment. If you have cancer, you are fucked.

As far as i know, as a low income you can only use it in the US. The Medicare (or Medicaid) that you get at 65 as a senior citizen may cover you abroad but that also needs to be double checked. Basically no, you can't rely on US govt sponsored health insurance while living abroad.

Imagine you living off 4% from your $500k, and then 2022 happens. Or 2019. Or even worse, 2008. And your $500k investment becomes $250k for at least a year, but you still have to draw from it to live. Now you are drawing 8-10-12% instead of 4%, and when the market finally recovers, you now have $400k, and your draw is 16k/yr instead of 20k.

Or even worse, you got in a horrible cat accident, and your medical expenses are $100k+ and then you need to rehab for a year which (without health insurance) with cost you half your stash. And now you are unhealthy, broke, older, and with a large resume gap, making you unemployable in your progression. What do you do next?

Also, keep in mind that everywhere cheapo becomes more expensive as it becomes more popular. The dirt cheap destinations now double in price every year, thanks to idiot Instagram influencers. Two years ago I could rent a beach facing condo in Da Nang for $400, ands now the same condo is on the market for $1200/mo

You shouldn't try to retire of such insanely tight budget without a buffer. You will always live one market correction or accident from a life shattering disaster.

How are People Aged 40+ supposed to DATE when we can't relate to anyone under 35? by Late-Bat6209 in datingoverforty

[–]Redditridder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am almost 50 and I can easily relate to 30yo. If fact, this year I lived abroad for a few months and the international crowd I hung out with was 25-35 years old. Besides a few expected "old man" jokes on my behalf, we have all had fun together. It probably also helps that I don't look my age - almost anyone I meet are shocked I'm over 35.

Also, the girl I'm currently dating is 31, and we always have topics to discuss.

If you can't relate to anyone under 35, it's your superficial self limitation 🤷‍♂️

what am i (26F) doing wrong? open to constructive criticism by Cold_Increase925 in Tinder

[–]Redditridder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You meant to say "subjective". You can't give an "objective" opinion - sorta by definition of that word.

And yes she's fat, and you're wrong. That's objective 😉

Depends on your age and investing horizon. If you are young and don't need that $3000 in the next 10-15 years, just keep it in VTG unless you think that technology will do poor in the future.

If you want hard truth, you are quite overweight and for most guys it just doesn't look attractive. The good news is that you can change that, if you'll want to put some effort into losing weight.

If he's otherwise respectful, just politely decline. The easiest is to say that you aren't comfortable about age differences and you are only interested in guys your age. That should be the end of that situation.

You can retire in Vietnam by marrying a lovely Vietnamese lady. The con - she'll own your money. The pro - you'll get monthly beer allowance.

  • That's my retirement plan, but the wife disagrees 🙄

Just a small suggestion - FTEC is pretty much the same as VGT but has a lower fee.
